Clue Ending Scene #1

- The first of three alternate endings to the 1985 movie Clue. This is the Miss Scarlett ending. Leslie Ann Warren plays the crimson gunman with the revolver in the hall. "One plus two plus one is two..." starts at the 1:45 mark.
I love that in all 3 endings the one consistency is that communism is always a red heiring
And that Mr. Green is always innocent, whether as a gay State Department employee or a straight FBI agent.
Sorry, but it is spelt “herring”, not “heiring”.
@@carlbirtles4518There also wasn’t anybody who gave Mr. Boddy any information on Mr. Green.
@@oldscoolgaming6700 I just realized that.
"Frankly Scarlet, I don't give a damn"
Well damn Tim Curry!

A reference coming from the 1990's Pennywise, no less! Wa hah! Wa hah! Wa hah!
They stole that from Gone With The Wind.
0:04 I die every time Mrs. White does that little scream. So hilarious
Did she just want Mr. Green away from her since she believed he was gay (well actually in this ending he is gay)?
SheppyDog927 I wonder why she screamed too, but I guess that was just the uniqueness of the late Madeline Kahn.
@@spaceace4387 wait
Mr. Green was GAY?!
Cool!
@@bradmiller6938 in the movie mr. Green said he was gay but spoiler in the third ending he says I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife so he was just pretending to be gay but if you choose the other two endings he might actually be gay it's whichever ending you prefer the most
@@bradmiller6938 (SPOILERS)
In the opening scenes, the story says it takes place in 1954. Back in the fifties, you could lose your job if it came out that you were homosexual.
The reason Mr. Green is being blackmailed by Mr. Boddy is because he's a homosexual who works in the state department. He could lose his job if it came out that he was homosexual.
In the first two endings, this is true for him. But in the third ending, he's actually a undercover FBI agent. This means that either the whole story was false in order for him to trick Mr. Boddy and infiltrate this blackmailing thing or he's going in place of the real Mr. Green.
"There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study, two for the chandelier, two for the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram."
"That's not six."
"1 + 2 + 2 + 1."
"Uh-uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier, that's 1 + 2 + 1 + 1."
"Even if you are right, that will be 1 + 1 + 2 + 1, not 1 + 2 + 1 + 1."
"Okay, fine- 1 + 2 + 1- SHUT UP!"

If i were Wadsworth i would've said you know Ms Sarclet your math really needs some work badly.
I always adored Miss Scarlet's face when Wadsworth fired the gun proving her right
"You don't know what kind of people they have in the UN - I might go up in their estimation!". That line always cracks me up, almost like something out of yes, prime minister
That comedic line was funny in this movie. Later "political correctness" made that kind of ironic statement unusable.
@@charlemaeger787 No it wouldn't. It is a totally tame, inoffensive joke. Go outside.
Makes sense then considering that this was directed by Johnathan Lynn... one of the two creators of Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.

Indeed. I saw a snippet of this scene today on tv and wondered who she was. The bosom and cleavage made me think, "Susan Sarandon," but then I looked closer and saw that it was Ms. Warren.

Well this movie happens in the 50s and Gone With the Wind came out in the 40 so
I really like the ending where Mr. Green ends up being the FBI. We were watching this movie in my Forensic Science class and our goal was to figure out who did it. I said that they all did it but Wadsworth was an FBI agent but i was really surprised when Green ended up being FBI and Wadsworth was the actual Mr. Boddy. So i was partially right 😂
"I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife!"
you watched this for Forensic Science? That's a real "the teacher is hungover today and doesn't feel like doing work" move.
Technically in two of the three endings, Wadsworth was FBI lol
I had the same guess as you while watching it.
John Field Show fuck off this movie rocks
Mrs. Peacock's face at 4:37 always get me! She's just like, "WTF?" after having literally slammed the door in his face earlier lmao
Jared Collier Eileen Brennan was just wonderful in anything.
I never noticed that before. Yes, that's very funny lmao
I loved this one, probably the ending that made the most sense.
Yeah, of them all Mrs Scarlet already seemed the most villanous (Wadsworth was quite likeable, strangely perhaps). Plus I prefer Mr Green as an actual ditz with Wadsworth still as the guy in charge of that place and the "game" instead of the former.
Someone did a video about the endings. The official ending, the third, actually made the most sense, this one was the second most logical, and the second ending with Ms. Peacock as the killer made the least sense.
This is honestly my favorite ending for the chandelier crash behind colonel mustard. His reaction looks genuine and the sound is OD loud. Immediately followed by a fun song.
It's a brilliant callback to the first chandelier. XD I love the 3rd ending, but this is my second favorite for sure.
Everyone talking about the maid, Mrs. White's scream, and the "One plus one plus..." I'm talking about Professor Plum's line, "You don't know what kind of people they have at the UN. I may go up in their estimation." I didn't get the joke until now. So funny!! XD
This movie is confusing and yet funny lol 😂😂 and i love Tim curry when he sais he's shouting and the candle stick hits him it's so funny xD
How did it fall from the door the first place?
@@Wesly124X it was on top of the door frame and then when Tim Curry started yelling I'm shouting he was stomping his feet which caused the Candlestick to fall and hit his head
@@dawnbetancourt146I didn't see ANY stomping.
@@Wesly124X I just re-watched the scene and you're right he was just yelling I'm shouting I'm shouting and then it just fell for no reason so my bad
This is the true ending. Mrs Peacock couldn’t kill the cop or the singing telegram because there’s a scene where she was in the basement when the killer switched off the electricity and Mrs.White couldn’t kill the maiden because she was upstairs screaming.
What about the stranger who was killed in the lounge? I feel like she couldn’t have killed him since she was with Col Mustard when that happened?
@@jonarnall7651 @AStoryGood No, you’re both wrong the comments talking about Mrs. Peacock. Ms. Scarlet was with Col. Mustard.
AGREED! Based on continuity this is the ONLY ending that makes absolute PERFECT sense.
@@jonarnall7651 mustard and scarlet split while on the ground floor (remember scarlet searched the ballroom alone while mustard went into the kitchen) this scenario works for both ending a & c
Yet another good movie RUclips should let us see for free once in a while.
Agreed!
It was free for a couple months. Now it's not anymore☹
The only ending that ever made sense!
btp248 nope the third ending makes sense if you pay attention to the entire movie. You can see where each of them were missing to commit their murder
I also recall the third saying that Professor Plum was missing from the kitchen when they found the cook's body. When he actually was.
Doesn't fix the Mrs. White killing Yvette plot hole. Tim Curry was upstairs when the girl was shot. So he was supposed to kill her then run back upstairs into the shower to save Mrs. White after she ran back upstairs from killing Yvette? Then back down again to turn the lights on? Doesn't make much sense or if it does it's too goofy
MRS. WHITE was screaming upstairs when Yvette goes downstairs and is still upstairs when the jack in the box goes off. You're saying her going downstairs to turn the lights off, back upstairs to scream in the room, back down to kill Yvette, then back up again to scream again in the room makes sense? Maybe if she has teleporting abilities.
There was one piece of information that stated that one of the 'couple's during the house search had to have split up at some point during the course of the film. Then I remembered than when Col. Mustard and Scarlett were together Mustard said he was going to go check the kitchen again and left Scarlett on her own.
Rest in peace, Miss White :'(
Clue has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, but the ending stands out the most.
This movie Is an ULTIMATE CLASSSSIC of pure comedy from MS. Peacock, Col. Mustard & Mr. Green will have you In stitches everytime 😜😂😭😅
If you put subtitles on for the movie when Mrs White screams at the beginning it says “mock screams” This is part of why this movie is by far the best comedy of the 80s
Wandsworth was the secret cop, yet can't add to six
I think he just did that to distract Miss Scarlet so the cops could arrive and apprehend her.
burmiester1 he did, but he really thought there were no bullets in the gun
@@PrehistoricLEGO True
I think it's a fusion of him accidentally miss counting because of all the excitement and him trying to confuse Miss Scarlet for as long as he can till backup arrived and make her think the gun was empty because seriously when you were watching the 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 scene tell me you weren't confused
😂
Fine. 1 plus 2 plus 1-.. SHUT UP!

My personal favorite ending of this movie
This was such a wonderfully hilarious movie, and Tim Curry has always been underrated as an actor. :)
Totally underrated as a actor indeed
What's good about ending A is that five of the six kills were directly shown and displayed - unlike ending B in which none of the kills by Mrs. Peacock were shown.
Yeah. I wonder what was up with that?
when I was younger, no one in my family would watch this with me, I kept quoting along with the movie

To me, this is THE ending of the movie. :)
Me too. It makes the most sense.
Me too 👍. I refuse to watch the one version of the movie that claims the third ending is the real one, and will only watch the dvd with it set to a random ending (😂and hope it chooses this one)
Maybe it's just me but out of all three endings I liked this one the best. It just seemed to make sense to me a bit more than the other two endings did. Just my 2 cents though.
I agree completely.
"Hate when he does that!"

Tim Curry has a beautiful face for a villain he sure is an amazing actor so sad the stroke effected him

I was always so impressed with Lesley Ann Warren's work in this ending.
"I'm only a guest!"
I wonder what he said originally...
Thats a good movie
+Katie Fisher agreed one of the best
The motives makes my head spin. It's a good movie but too short in my opinion- even with all the different endings, which start at before the 70 minute mark, it's only an hour and a half. These characters are feisty and interesting, particularly the chemistry between Professor Plum and Miss Scarlett, and I'd have liked to have had more of a fun introduction to them before any murder took place. Did they even use a ballroom scene? That's have added a bit more fun. Plus surely this movie called for a bit more of in-joke humour, for instance, Wadsworth could have made some quip that hiding all of the weapons in the cupboard couldn't possibly leave anything else in the house that could be used as a weapon, you know like a telephone over the head. It was nice to see Tim Curry running around an old manor house again- very Rocky Horror.
I thought it was really cool with the release how theaters would show the movie but each showing showed one of the three different endings. Which is really really cool.
I LOVE this movie SO MUCH.
This ending made the most sense!
The only ending that makes some sense
The guy that plays Col Mustard is in Roseanne. He's a regular that comes into her café. :)

I’m with you, mate. I loved this ending. The second one made less sense but at least my favourite character wadsworth was still a good guy. The third ending made no sense whatsoever and made him the bad guy, and I hated it.
That's the best cast call at the end EVER.!!!
Imagine a modern reboot...
They’re actually making one now. With Ryan Reynolds!!!!
This is actually a really good mystery and each story lines up really well the directors/writers/actors should’ve got Oscars for this
Edit: I mixed up the Oscar’s for the grammys
Do you mean Oscars? (scratching my head)
@@NLBTUBE yes sorry I’m not completely familiar with award shows
I’m in middle school and last year the high school did a play of this, and I have to say I totally thought Green was the murderer because he was acting all standoffish which was sus af The actress who played him was excellent and I think she’s cool
There’s two things about this movie I still don’t get:
1) Why weren’t we able to any of Mrs. Peacock’s or Professor Plum’s killing? We saw everyone else kill their victims in the endings.
2) How - If they were both upstairs - did Ms. White or Wadsworth (Boddy) kill Yvette or the singing telegram girl?
Yet more reasons why ending 1 is by far the best ending.
It’s the one that makes the most sense. But still, Professor Plum should’ve known Mr. Boddy wasn’t dead the first time, anyone of them would’ve been able to know.

Dawn Betancourt that’s why they casted him in the role.
It's funny (mainly because it's Madeline and she's pretty much funny by default in this movie), but why does Mrs. White... squeak/scream when Mr. Green approaches her at the beginning of the clip?
Right before this scene, Wadsworth (Tim Curry) cuts the power and everyone screams. I'm guessing Mrs White just had a leftover scream to get out
I hate it when he does that. AHAHAHAHHHh |:¬)
It was a mock scream.
It's hilarious to boot. No reason, it's just there lololol
Because every time the lights when out some one got killed. When Wadsworth did that, it scared the shit out of her.
How a movie can have mutiple endings,a movie isn't multi-branching as a game,is lineal.How?
When they released the movie in theaters, there were three different version, hence three endings. When released to video, the studio put all the endings into it with transitions in between. The screen went to black after this one then the words "or maybe this happened" appeared for the second one. After that, the screen went black and words that said "but this is what really happened" appeared then the third ending played.
+Thaddeus Cornell Ah,now I understand.Thanks!
I thoroughly enjoyed this thread ...hilarious
Higurashi managed it, of course that was stuck in a time loop where each reset kind of exists in its own seperate universe. (Think Groundhog Day meets Silent Hill.) I think it's explained later on, but it's pretty jarring when the second arc starts in the anime adaptation if you don't know it's coming (like me.)
Honestly this one is more the true ending then the 33rd one with the scene of yvettas death
This was the best ending.
The most correct line I’ve read for some time 👍.
This one made the most sense.

***** well i'll be darned. thanks for the correction!
marls4life Susan Sarandon did share the stage with Tim Curry in the Rocky Horror Picture Show though. But here it's Lesley Ann Warren who plays Miss Scarlet.
I made the same mistake.
Nowhere in the opening credits is Susan's name confused with Leslie's.....j/s ;)
Wait, there's still one thing I don't understand.
ONE thing?
One is there to not understand? 1 plus 2 plus 1
Or was it 2 plus 1 plus 2
Ok fine. 1 plus 2 plus 1....SHUT UP!!
I really like this murder mystery movie because it shows us what happened so we don't have to imagine it and it's just like the real game!
There's only one problem with making Miss Scarlett the killer. When Colonel Mustard leaves her to inspect the kitchen, she's left to check the curtain all by herself to see if someone is behind it. I guess even though she's the killer in this version, she was worried there might really be someone else in the house. So I guess this ending really work then.
Also, this is the only ending in which Mrs. Peacock doesn't point out Mrs. Peacock's mentioning at dinner that they were eating one of her favorite recipes indicating that the cook used to be her cook.
Love this movie
This really should have been the only ending. It's the one that makes the most sense and I think it's such a cop-out when movies do like Clue did with the third ending, "They were all guilty!" Yawn.
It IS the only ending if you set the DVD to choose one ending at random and it chooses this one. I don’t know whether all the DVD’s are the same, but with mine if you insert the disc and play the movie multiple times, the order in which it selects the ending is always the same: 1,2,3,1,3,1.
I've got this movie and quite frankly I can't believe I haven't..
This is my favorite ending
Wadsworth: As I was trying to say, there are no bullets left in this gun. You see.
***BANG!!!!!***
Wadsworth One plus two plus one…
Mustard: Plus two plus one is…
***SMASH!!!!!!!***
R.I.P. Madeline Kahn (1942-1999) (Mrs. White), Eileen Brennan (1932-2013) (Mrs. Peacock), Howard Hesseman (1940-2022) (The Chief) and Martin Mull (1943-2024) (Colonel Mustard).
2:25 god those hip movements.
PLOTHOLE: It doesn’t make sense that Yvette killed Mr. body and the cook. It’s explained that she screamed after she killed the cook. But if we look back, the reason that she screamed is because she was scared, she was poisoned by the cognac. She’d have had to had heard that on the recording in the billiard room, but at that moment, when Mrs. Peacock was screaming about the brandy, Yvette was supposedly killing the cook.
This movie is so good, lol.
This ending to me is the most plausible.
new version -Joey Graceffa's Escape the Night
At least we see how it would look in the theater with just one ending.
This was my fave ending because it made the most sense
This is the only ending that makes sense, in my opinion. Given what the movie shows before it shows the endings, Miss Scarlet's is the only one with no loopholes or contradictions. For example, Mrs. White still being in the attic when we see Yvette sneaking downstairs when the power is out. Or, like how Professor Plum was present in the kitchen when they found the Cook dead.
great movie
1:02 Professor Plum: Who?!
Mrs. Peacock: Who?!
Mrs. Scarlet: Who?!

It was Miss Scarlet, in the Hall, with the Revolver.
Actually I think she didn't kill in the hall hehe she killed in the billar room, the library (or study room?) and the front door :) or the last one is included in the hall? Honest question here xD
I prefer This and the second ending
Miss Scarlett. I knew it was the maid at first, but Miss Scarlett. Why?
Miss Scarlett dragged the maid into this whole thing and plus she was getting taken advantage of the whole time by Miss Scarlett and i know how it feels to be taken advantage of quite frankly the maid is the only one I felt bad for.
@@rogetprice920 used, objectified, humiliated, and gets the worst death of the night with the slow strangulation in her skimpy maid uniform. Poor Yvette.

There's so many levels of "that's THAT actor???" in this movie from a modern perspective. That's Gene Parmesan from Arrested Development? That's Chuck from Better Call Saul, I thought that was Rick Moranis? Miss Scarlet ISN'T Sigourney Weaver? Christopher Lloyd's obvious, but I thought he always looked... older? Like he's always looked old?
