CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn) describes the intense hatred that drove her to murder Yvette (Colleen Camp).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this spoof of McCarthy-era paranoia and 1950s wholesomeness, the characters and plot are drawn from the popular Parker Brothers board game of the same name. On a dark and stormy night in 1954, six individuals with ties to Washington are assembled for a dinner party at the swanky mansion of one Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). Boddy's butler, Wadsworth (Tim Curry), assigns each guest a colorful name: Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). Two additional servants, the Cook (Kellye Nakahara) and Yvette, the maid (Colleen Camp), assist Wadsworth as he informs the guests that they have been gathered to meet the man who has been blackmailing them: Mr. Boddy. When Boddy turns up dead, however, the guests must try to figure out who killed him so they can protect their own reputations and keep the body count from growing. Three separate endings were filmed for Clue and shown in different theaters; all three are collected for the video edition. Although the film is set in the 1950s, the original Clue game was actually devised by Anthony Pratt, a clerk in Leeds, England, to pass the time during World War II air-raid drills. First released in 1946 under the name Cluedo by British manufacturer Waddington's, Clue was renamed and released in the U.S. in 1949. Today, Clue/Cluedo is marketed in 70 countries around the world and has been adapted into a British game show and an off-Broadway musical.

I love how Tim just casually drops Madeleine on the stairs 😂
Also the extra loud thump as she falls 😹
And how he just interrupts her while she’s on her “flames, heaving breaths” tangent
Haha just another undercover laugh of this gem of a film
And he left her there just like a "thing" while he keeps going with the same energy 😂
Who refers to her as Madeleine? 😂
Tim Curry is just a joy to watch in this movie. He's so full of energy!
He is a joy to watch/hear everywhere! Brilliant and hilarious actor.
Tim Curray always scared me when I was little; his face, his smile and evil voice.
Here he is just purely hilarious 😂
Ricky Castle I get it and when I found out he played it, I knew why
@@medalgear654 you were probably watching "IT" my friend.
He’s one spicy Curry; he’s on 🔥
God, I just love Madeline Kahn! She was so talented and funny! I also love the little run into the dining room and the drop on the stairs!
The drop down the stairs dropped me to the floor with laughter. I've got to steal that if I ever do another short film.
i lost it when she just flopped onto the stairs
Never try running upstairs in heels!
"I hated her SO...MUCH that it-it, flame-flames...FLAMES on the side of my face..." XD
heaving breaths
breasts?
And that’s what Angrish sounds like.
omg. it just makes me laugh so much. Maddy was a legend, RIP.
I had Sanders sides flashbacks 😂
I love how it seems like she's going to do the big Poirot "murderer speech" and then she just comes out with the most idiotic justification for the murder you've ever heard. Brilliant film.
Not idiotic completely Psychotic anger 😭 she can’t describe how angry she was which is likely why she didn’t hesitate to act on it
Madeline Khan in this film was the best. This one scene always gets me going. And if you look at the faces of everyone else they are trying so hard not to lose it.
Madeline Kahn improvised the "flames" part!! It wasn't in the script! So funny XD
She was truly brilliant! She was her best and her funniest when sounding so serious!
Well I’m glad she did it.
It’s awesome.
You can really tell Curry’s reaction was genuine
Wish they could've kept the shot on her face for the whole scene ♥
it truly is one of my favorite parts of this movie. always has been. Now I'm delighted to know that it was improvised and it was all her... in the moment.
Casts deserve some kind of special Oscar for being able to keep it together during brilliant improv monologues like Madeline Kahn’s truly classic one here.
Apparently, according to Tim Curry nobody kept it together for this scene at all. Everyone was practically on the floor which is why the editing gets a little... Choppy for lack of a better word as she keeps going. ;)
True story, this was the only improv in the whole movie.
So, does that explain the missing candlestick?
and they pulled it off with out cracking up. well played
@@beatrixthegreat1138 You could kinda tell they wanted to, I don't balme them😂
Taylor Cox you ever see the old Carrol Burnett? Particularly when they did a dentist skit? They had the hardest time trying to keep a straight face.
@@beatrixthegreat1138 No I haven't seen it, I'll have to check that out asap. I love it when actors have a hard time staying in there characters idk why.
NOTHING ever embarrassed Madeline Kahn, or threw her off.
What a badass
IKR, she’s my favorite💗
“Yes, yes I did it. I killed Yvette. I hated her SO much, it-it flamed- flames, FLAMES on the side of my face. Breathing- breathle- heating breaths, heating breathles-“ -Mrs. White
Well, now she’s Ms. White.
A perfect performance by Madeline Kahn nevertheless.. How they managed to make a movie this good about a board game is beyond me...(and it's one of my favourite comedies).
😆
best part is tim cury trying not to laugh lol
*heaving breaths
Tim currys face when Mrs white is saying the flames thing is so funny 🤣
The face of a man trying not to break so hard.
I don't think women are funny in general. But they are inherent to the process of comedy.
This is a great example.
@@The2ndFirstWHAT?
@@The2ndFirst Sir, I believe there may be some confusion. This is a Wendy's, and you seem to think you're in a Biscuitville.
@@RabidDogma That's about as funny as a woman.
I love how Wadsworth doesn't even stop when Miss White trips on the stairs! Hilarious!
Love this movie! My only regret is that Wadsworth didn't allow Mrs. White to tell us even more about the flames on her face. She's wound so tight! FLAMES! Burning white flames scorching and melting and FLAMES all over...
I actually love that they all just ignore her and keep moving. Like they all know she’s faking it just keep going.
Loved her in this film. She knew how to accentuate a scene without overpowering it or underdelivering.Incredibly talented and underrated actress.
I want Mrs. White's speech as my new ringtone.
This movie is such a gem with so many great performances but that one scene with Madeline Khan never fails to get a chuckle out of me.
R.I.P. Madeline. You were taken from us too soon.
Lol Ms.White fallin runnin up the stairs XD
This had me rolling, me and my mom watched this the other day and I was like "This was NOT scripted, I can tell by how they're looking at her😂" it was so funny
I love the flames part, but I also love how she just kinda... drops when he’s pulling her up the stairs
I have always loved this part, plus how she gives up and just lies down on the stairs. Hilarious!
There will never be another Madeline Kahn. Unique talent.
flames ffflames on the side of my face
How can I make her "flames" monologue my ring tone?
ImJuniperNow I only know how to do it with a Mac, iTunes and Firefox.
Install Firefox. Play the clip in RUclips. There's an "mp3" download link, click it. Find the file in Finder, get the info, change the extension to m4a. Open with iTunes and edit the clip to the segment of dialogue you want for the ringtone. Create an AAC version. Delete the file from iTunes, but not from your Mac. Go back to finder and change the extension to m4r. Open with iTunes and the clip will be in the ringtone section of your iTunes. (If you have Windows, I have no idea how to do it.)
HellBlazerRaiser Awesome! I'll give this to the teenager in my life. Can't wait. Thanks!!!
ImJuniperNow You're welcome!
I have a "flames on the side of my face" ringtone and a "But you are Blanche!" ringtone. People love when they go off on my iPhone. :)
HellBlazerRaiser you are in that chair
The above boys and girls is why you don't use proprietary devices that force you have to use this extensive a workaround.
I don't know how all the others stood there looking at Madeline while she did her FLAMES monologue. Such a funny speech; and they all just went on with the scene. 😀
GOD Madeline Kahn was hilarious! talent for days! How i wish she were still alive.
"Cosby" would've lasted longer had she not died- I'm sure of it. Say what you want about Bill Cosby, but he and Madeline Kahn had an AMAZING and hilarious dynamic on that show.
One of my favourite films …..EVER. The detail is amazing. Right down to the floor being squares just like the board game.
“I hated her so much, it-it- the flames, flames on the side of my face. breath, heath-hEaTH-heathing breath”
This film is a gem. Superb cast.
I always loved that part when he grabs Mrs. White's hand, whisks her up the staircase, then drops her halfway up! lol
Madeline Kahn was definitely an American treasure!
major props to martin mull (col. mustard) for not breaking character so that Madeline's genius improv was a usable shot for the film
And the fact that Madeline improvised this whole line shows what an amazing actress she is in comedy. A classic, iconic line.
when Madeline Kahn did that flames speech, director Jonathan Lynn was the only other person who knew she was doing that improv. That's why her fellow actors were wondering what the heck were the words coming out of her mouth.
1:21. That run up the stairs and dropping ms Kahn. Glorious
LOL When he dropped Mrs. White on the stairs *THUNK*
I did not ask for this scene but it popped up and now I understand where that last line about the flames came from! Thank you Katya from UNHhhh haha
i’ve accepted that 100% of my yt algorithm is set by katya + not even mad
this move deserves a retroactive oscar but it is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
Tim Curry's face at 2:02 lol. It's like he's trying not to laugh
Idk how Martin & Tim were able to keep a straight face. But also the way they looked at her was hilarious!
Saw this movie in the theater when it first came out. I was 12 years old maybe. All the characters seemed incapable of murder, so I was convinced someone else had to be in the house. One of my favorite movies ever!
God bless Madeline Kahn! What she’s doing in this movie and her entire oeuvre is something rarely achieved: you believe that someone this insane exists! and that makes her one of the great silver screen comediennes
I still remember this after so many years. So much fun to watch !
I memorized her monologue. It is classic !!! Missing her much !
I miss Madeline Khan. Flames. Heaving breaths. Heaving.
This line and when she smack her drink glass against the fireplace mantle and delivers an exasperated "Puh-lease". Classic Madeline Kahn.
Look at Tim Curry and Martin Mull’s faces. It must have been SO hard not to laugh at this brilliant improv!
Madeline Kahn's reaction and improvised quote "flames on the side of my face" is just so precious. AND one of my favourite lines from this great film.
I’ve been using that “flames” soundbite for decades.
Loved that part.
I also loved “who are you? Perry Mason?”
When Curry strides down the hall with that spring in his step, I can't help thinking of Frank-n-Furter ("Why don't I show you around...")
"This is incredible!" *PLUNK!* He drops her on the stairs XD
Hello. Tim Curry super fan here. I'm OBSESSED with his strut over to Prof. Plum 0:06
Jennifer Murdock I see a bit of the Sweet Transvestite there 😉😘
Clue is the greatest movie of all time. Makes The Godfather look like The Room. I watch it like 6 times a year and it never gets old.
Ok, I totally understand and appreciate that people have different tastes, etc when it comes to film and/or comedy, but how the hhhhhelllll does anyone go so far as to actively press the "dislike" button on this? No for real? How?
RIP Madeline Kahn aka Empress Nympho! lol.. great actress and comedian.
I miss Madeline Kahn -- so talented. No one like her.
I have yet to see a female actress come close to her since she left us. Truly one of kind and her style was so unique and just genuine. Madeline was always 'ON' even when she was just standing and doing "nothing" as it were.
+gutz1981 I know! she voiced one of the witches in the my little pony movie the smooze. she sang the song, "nothing can stop the smooze!" and u could tell she was having SO MUCH FUN singing it!
I love her in 'Blazing Saddles' and 'Young Frankenstein' as well
Why did this clip show up on my feed right after I watched the latest UNHhhh?
0:57 - I always loved how they had to ADR: "Colonel Mustard!" because Tim Curry was clearly out of breath.
After so many years, that flames part still cracks me up. And I dont understand why
Omg I didn’t know Thomas was referencing this scene with Logan until I rewatched the movie.
I loved Madeline Kahn. RIP Madeline Kahn
She's dead ? 😰
Luke Peterson Yeah.
Ovarian Cancer, 1999.
To this day, this is one of my favorite movies! 😂😂😂
I love that they eventually stop listening and go back to the explanation without acknowledging her....
She was so incredibly sexy not only because of her beauty, but her comedic talents :-). Love Madeline.
This movie is just so good! An underrated classic!
Mrs. White is such a funny character
"Mrs White is my idol!"
Then I do NOT want to marry you.
“Is Bismarck a herring?!”.. lolol..
Can we talk about how much energy Curry put into pointing at Madeline
Flames on the side of my face...why is that not a meme?
oh it is. you're just not in the fandom where it is.
When miss white says here part I laugh so much!!!!!!
Kahn's ad-libbing is god sent
Miss White was probably the funniest part of this movie 🤣🤣
This scene never gets old.
“Flames on the side of my face” starts at 1:48
im auditioning for this tomorrow and im re-enacting this line because of how iconic it is
My favorite and most memorable part of the movie. "Flames"
First time I saw *CLUE* I was only moderately enjoying it up to this point. Madeline Kahn here put me on the floor. 😂
“I hated her so much!
Flames.....
Flames.....flames....
out the side of my face.”
Katya brought me here … 😆😆😆
1:29: AAAAAAAAND! XD
Lovely performances from all the actors, really... but Curry and Kahn are absolutely great!
“Yes I did it.... I hated her SOOO much, FLAMES”lmao I say this all the time to people and they have no idea what I’m talking about lol
This is never not hysterically funny!
this my favourite line delivery from any movie. ever.
This moment is too iconic 😂😂😂😂
All this heat came from the mag and the square cube scenario lol
Films like this are why they need an Academy Award for Best Ensemble Cast.
I really, really, really loved Madeline Kahn.
So that’s what katya was quoting
Madeline Kahn is an absolute legend.
I would’ve love to see everyone’s reaction after they yelled cut lol
My god, I just lose it every damn time 😂😂
1:24 "You better WISE up, Mrs. WHITE!"
her dialogue is timeless
I used to watch this movie literally everyday of my life.
I did this for an escape room at school and let me tell u, it was HARD and worked my butt to find out that he killed the bell hop woman with a freaking CANDLESTICK 😤😤
2:00 that ain’t part of the script . She just threw it in .
U can see a few moments later that mustard is just like ‘wtf’
Even Mr. Plumb
One of the best improvised lines ever.
Coming here after watching the UHNnnn episode
Who else lost it when Tim Curry was running up the stairs holding onto her hand and she fell?
😂1:24, she just falls. Love Madeline Kahn💖😘
