    The funny thing about beam weapons of any kind is thst the lore states they are pre-charged. ECap mags, beam sabers, etc, could actually be used by Zaku 1s and 2s if Sunrise followed their own lore.

      @@sir_coma60 Yarp, but like the lasgun from 40k, it really shouldn't have recoil of any kind, or so little it shouldn't be an issue. Buuuut, considering it's not RL, meh😂

      @@sir_coma60 It just makes me wonder why Zeon didn't just hand out beam rifles and sabers to every MS they had given this fact.
      The Agguy, Z'Gok, and others had beam weapons earlier in the War, and were, in fact, not pre-charged, being powered by the MS's powerplant. The Agguy driven by two generators and the Z'Gok by a single, more powerful engine.
      Thank you to Sloth Cakes for the video. This is a subject in the Gundam franchise that's always made me scratch my head.

      @@OasisTypeZakuif i remember right it wasn’t till towards the end of the war that ecaps were widespread, so the beam energy came from the reactor as well as powering the mobile suit

    Side note of the V2's Wings of Light. They're just byproducts from excessive energy from the Minovsky Drive System, so they're not really a weapon per se but Uso's smart enough to manipulate them as such.
    As for Internal Beam Sabers, I think the best option is having a Beam Weapon that can deploy one from the barrel, like the Hyaku-Shiki *and probably Delta Gundam* and Zeta Gundam did it. I would like to see one capable of doing both though. Like the Beam Rifle stores a Beam Saber and uses it as its 'e-caps' and the MS can remove it to use it as a BS.

    • @slothcakes
      @slothcakes  7 месяцев назад +1

      beam bayonets are a cool idea that id like to see more of, being removeable is also a cool concept. I always loved how the zeta threw it to hit someone making the most expensive spear possible.
      theres also the Jutte the small parry beam sabers on the underside of the gp01s br odd thing that i always forget

    • @jaderabbit898
      @jaderabbit898 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@slothcakes And considering how close MS fights can get, I'm surprised we don't see more of them being used.
      Speaking of the GP01, it's interesting how many timelines tackle the idea of increasing or decreasing beam lethality. UC has them done mostly via the cockpit controls, but AC's Epyon reuires a direct connection to the reactor.

    What about the Gaia Gundam and it’s kind of wings that have beam sabers on them that allow it to do slashing while on its transformation form or the pixy with its hip Beam dagger if your from Zeon and you never seen the pixy you could confuse it for not having any beam weapons on it so get close next thing you know it does a Robocop on you pull out beam daggers on you and stab you very quick and don’t have to go in the shoulders or nothing like that. Instead, you confused it for ammo like I did a long time ago when I was a beginner in gundam or what about the Gundam Astray red frame version of the shining finger does that count as a beam built-in weapon

      Beam vulcans may be more useful in IBO as anti-air or simpler anti-infantry weapons on some MS. It would be a rather interesting paradigm flip, where the vulcans are the only beam weapons and everything else is physical weaponry.

    Good points overall presented in this video overall but there is a need for all of this to use the proper terminology. The beam saber types you showed here are officially called integrated beam sabers. This makes alot more sense than calling them internal because they are integrated in the MS itself.
    However, I would like to also reuse this terminology to refer to beam sabers with how they are stored into external and internal; such as: RX-78-2 & GM as External storage types and the ones who hide them inside like the Kshatriya and Seravee as Internal storage types.
    This proper classification should help in separating more of those that are actually held by manipulators and actual integrated ones.
    So some examples of this new classification im proposing:
    >Manipulable types - the typical beam sabers that can be held by manipulators or similar devices like subarms, ie RX-78, GM
    Subtypes:
    -External Storage - Manipulable types that are stored attached to the MS and clearly visible from the outside, ie RX-78, Exia, or Aerial
    -Internal Storage - Manipulable types that are normally stored inside the MS, backpack, or a container, ie RX-79 Ground Type, Kshatriya, or Seravee
    >Integrated - beam sabers that are integrated into the MS itself or on a part of it, ie Aegis, GM Sniper Custom, and METEOR
    >Hybrid Manipulable-Integrated - beam sabers that are inbetween manipulable and integrated, ie Blitz (stored externally and used as-is), Qubeley (cannons while in arms, sabers inhand), and Zeta (cannons in waverider, sabers inhand, but the rifle and mega launcher can also be used as beam sabers, so the Zeta crosses alot of boundaries more than youd think)
    As for the final category, Im not sure what to call them yet, but the beam weapons that are hybrid of physical weapons like the swords on the Sword Striker, Sword Impulse, and Destiny do warrant their own subcategory under the Integrated classification.

      @slothcakes  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the correction and info. I really like the suggested subcategories makes things more neat

    • @CHAEU555
      @CHAEU555 2 месяца назад

      In the case of the Sword Strike, Sword Impulse, and Destiny, their weapons are known as anti-ship swords, intended for obvious purposes. The beam blade is probably intended to generally increase the cutting power, but it also proves pretty useful against Phase Shift armor, which generally no-sells physical damage when active. Other MS in the Cosmic Era also seem to have such physical swords with beam blades, like the GOUF Ignited and the more recent Rud-ro.A and Cal-re.A, but they're probably not anti-ship swords.

    What, no Stargazer's beam rings? Or Victory's beam rotors?
    Or Build Fighters Fenice's beam curtains or beam wheels (I know it's not "real" robot in universe but hey, G Gundam has beam ribbons or hula hoops or something, so same thing)

    • @CHAEU555
      @CHAEU555 2 месяца назад +1

      The Stargazer's beam cutters are just a side effect of the Voiture Lumiere system interacting with beam shots from other MS. Undeniably cool, of course, but not really internal weapons, since the Stargazer was designed for noncombat purposes and has no weapons by default.
