One key detail I love about this fight is Andrew usually jokes around while fighting and makes up nick names but you can feel the desperation in this because he didn’t crack a single joke or nickname during this fight. Although MJ is always in trouble Spider-Man always saves her in the Rami Trilogy here this the only time Gwen is in trouble and Spider-Man could not even save her inlike Tobey miguire I guess organic webs is not the only thing
One reason why Andrews Spider-Man is probably my favorite. If he appears in the new Spider-Man movie I hope they recreate the way he moves in these movies.
This still holds up as one of the most intense scenes in a Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man is struggling so much that he's literally using every limb he has to stop that web from snapping. It puts you right on the edge of your seat.
It’s a very terrifying scene, probably the most horrific one of a Spider-Man movie, (compared to that one in no way home, I don’t wanna say just in case you haven’t seen it)
@@jaygo2546 guys want to know something sadder I think when the that pipe breaks from the wheel turning as peter looks at gwen is a slight foreshadow its probly not that deep but still
Something I love about Andrew's Spider-Man is how he uses tactics in a fight. Inside the clocktower he sets up webs to limit Harry's mobility on the glider and uses the webs as places to climb around on.
he totally owned him that fight. Took him out in seconds. Even in the comics, he always took Harry down way easily than Norman even though both Harry and Norman had the same goblin powers because Harry lacked the killer instinct and aggression.
the problem is that the movie is dumb about it for example in NWH when Tom's spiderman defeats Strange, he uses a insane tactic too and makes us notice it, in this movie we can not notice it, until we watch it several times or read somoene talking about it somewhere
The way Andrew’s Peter said “I was trying to protect you” and his overall reaction to seeing Harry, his best friend turning into something unrecognizable is actually heartbreaking.

The actual goblin himself is pretty bad but the fight scene was excellent. The music, the stakes, the choreography. Fantastic. And then the mechanics of Gwen’s death? Beautiful. The way he accidentally strips the gear and then it snaps and the clock hand falls backwards right as she falls… man. Whoever set that entire sequence up is a genius.
This fight was terrible in my opinion. Barely even a fight, they're both just swinging and flying around a confined space with a little bit of grabbing each other at the end. Have you seen no way home? William Dafoe's goblin brought the hands 👌
@@alop9535 It may not have been the best movie Spidey fight (I reserve that for the dynamic Doc Ock train fight), but it's definitely among the better ones just on the basis of its (literal) tension. If Amazing Spiderman had decent writing, maybe they could've given this scene enough time for a really special fight. The fight and web-slinging choreography of Amazing Spiderman was often more creative than the other franchises, while the MCU's first two films were relatively uninspired. I have yet to see No Way Home, I hear I'll be pleasantly surprised.
@@alop9535 yes no way home was great and that Dafoe Goblin is god tier but this is still a good fight. It’s not a full blown brawl, and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. One thing I liked about this scene was how quickly Harry determined who Spider-man was and who was the one person he holds near and dear to his heart, and he took the knowledge he gained from learning both identities in the moment that he immediately knew how to ruin Peter's life. Also the music that plays in this scene is pretty fucking tense as shit and I love it.
Earlier in the movie, he was sitting in a quiet room, five feet away from Spider-Man. The fact that he didn't recognize his best friend's voice was fucking obscene. Don't try and hype up how smart and genius he was. He put two and two together after he already got an F. Not only did the writers bring him in for a measly 3 minute fight scene with no real prior confrontation, but they also only had him recognize it was Peter now, at this point, for plot purposes, and not because it made sense. Right? I hated that about the Spiderman, let alone most superhero movies. But you want to know why they do that? For the actors face screen time. It comes down to the money - the actor/director wants the face of the hero shown. It is incredibly lame.
Am I the only one who loves the symbolism of this fight, mainly from 3:20 onwards? One of the major themes of this film was how Peter fought against his limitations between his normal life and Spider-Man, and that's personified best in this fight. When Gwen's hanging from a thread and Goblin's literally got him by the throat, Peter tries to stop the clock gears from cutting the thread. Spider-Man is trying to do the impossible: stop time. The whole sequence, with the gears shuddering and the clock hand twitching, makes it appear as though time is fighting back against Peter as he tries to save Gwen. He can do so many things, some all at the same time, as the films show, but he cannot stop time. That is beyond both him and Spider-Man. So the inevitable happens: Time goes forward, and Gwen dies. Because time stops for nothing, not even Spider-Man.
Im not a fan of this movie but I've NEVER thought of this scene that way. I've gained more appreciation for this scene. Thanks for helping me gain a cool new perspective!
Jusstt-Auto Bro I don’t know how you couldn’t. This movie was literally amazing. Sure it wasn’t a better than the Tobey series at the time but it certainly had its own flavor especially with how they treated the sequencing of the film. It was built as a sequel from the start when they reminded us about the promise Peter made and they kept reminding us throughout the film that sooner or later his personal life and hero life can’t mix. I definitely loved the feel of this battle too. I remember sitting in the theater and I forgot that Harry nabbed the suit. It was a sense of urgency from the start to finish and obviously like the guy explained that how’s much time played an importance to the overall message. Especially when you have Peter holding one end of his life, his best friend vs the other end his girlfriend and fate decided which is more important
This is still my favorite moment in the movie, imagine seeing your long life friend become a depraved unhinged monster, this must have devastated peter to see Harry like this
For all the other problems I have with this movie, the choreography as Harry and Peter fight inside the clocktower is incredible. Claustrophobic, agile, very fast-moving yet coherent and, remarkably, easy to follow.
I thought the final fight scenes in this movie were much better than the final fight scene in Homecoming, in which I had no idea what was going on because it was so dark.
It was everywhere and it was all happening at once. It was short and to the point and it accomplished what it needed to. This scene will always stay in my mind.
yes, but big mistake for Harry to enter that fight, in close quarters Spidey has the advantage. He should have carpet bombed them, but maybe he didn't have the ammo.
I love this goblin he actually was terrifying. I love how he seemed more drugged infused and more goblin man like that machinery. It makes him menacing and he also gives off psychotic trait very well.
I have to disagree. This goblin was awful and not terrifying at all. What makes Willem Dafoes Green Goblin scary was his acting and how he uses more of a "dr jekyll and mr hyde " theme to his green goblin character which is truly amazing and much more frightening. He was much more cruel and uses that dr jekyll and mr hyde to trick people and that is by far more terrifying than that other goblin. Willem Dafoe literally turned into the green goblin unlike this guy.
@@TYLERtheMAGGOT1 I think Willem Dafoe's version is indeed much scarier in his psychotic way to be and how he can be so unstable and dangerous. But I also think this one has a creepier design than the Dafoe's one (although is not comic accurate), whose outifit is quite meh.

People give these movies so much hate. While some things could have been improved, there are definitely great stuff in these movies that makes you glad you saw it. And one of those great things are the great shots of when Peter is swinging.
Actually, in a deleted scene from the film, harry besides showing this armor that he is wearing, he showed that he could watch peter's life and that was what he was doing for a while So for me it makes more sense that he discovered peter's identity like that than just seeing gwen and just deducing that he is the spider
@@avery9699 To be fair he has some good reason at this point to assume he is Spider-Man. It is suspicious as to why Gwen of all people is there. His thought process maybe was, “...Pete’s girlfriend is here with Spider-Man and he has no idea???” Then he looks back. Do you remember the scene when Harry was begging Pete for help to get Spidey’s blood? You see in that scene he picked Pete in particular for a reason. He deduced he had some kind of connection with Spider-Man way before things got this bad. Found out he takes his pictures... he says he must know him. Pete denies it. Harry was listening way back during their talk at the pond when Pete said he thinks Spidey is a good person who “gives people hope”. Very unconventional, unique opinion at the time. Brought it up against him and Pete was silent. Talks to “Spider-Man” who has the same exact feelings as Peter, even used the same words. “It could make things worse”. Then after he leaves Peter is suddenly completely out of Harry’s life as he’s spiraling down into madness and getting kicked out of Oscorp. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Peter even called him or just shot a message to see how he was doing during all this madness. He just disappeared. Which, I guess is justified, given he feels awkward and guilty about speaking to him after he just said no to his face... only made things worse in the end anyway. Harry was always a suspicious person to begin with. So, on top of all this, he probably remembered how Spider-Man’s voice conveniently sounds just like Pete’s and connected all the dots. And because Pete didn’t even try to deny it here in the scene that confirmed it. Really is heartbreaking.
True, but I feel like the audience didn't need him stating the obvious about Peter saying no. I feel like removing that line would be a good move, just have him do that little chuckle he did.
I think it makes no sense and was not at all sad. Peter was very sure that his blood would kill him, but he didn’t listen. Peter was trying to help him. Maybe he shouldn’t have just come as Spider-Man to Harry’s apartment.

@@Matttmurdockk He's really not Spider-man. At all. None of the aspects that makes Spidey iconic are addressed in the slightet. Loss, failure, and guilt have always been core to Spider-man's character. Uncle Ben was his first great failure, that turned into his driving motivation. Gwen Stacy's death was a tragedy derived from a rushed and reckless attempt to save her that ultimately killed her. Even when he tried to throw away the mask, the constant reminder of those that needed him always pushes him back into action. Spidey was never meant to be a perfect hero, but that's a big part of what makes him so compelling. While I agree with leaving out Uncle Ben's death, it's a story everyone knows by this point, it's an insult to the character that made Spider-man who he is to relegate him to a couple of vague, off-hand lines. There's so much focus on making him desperate to please and impress Tony, that they sacrifice what made the character great. Spider-man wouldn't involve himself in a superhero civil war based on what someone else tells him, he would follow his own ideals and do what he believes in. Neither of the mcu movies address anything that's made the character an icon, the most popular hero in Marvel's entire line up.
Honestly I am starting to love TASM 2. It is the weakest of the other Spider-Man movies out there, but I would not call this a bad movie. I find much enjoyment when watching this flick
The fact that people think that any of the ASM movies is crap shows a lot about what they understand in movies or how bad MCU Spiderman has messed up their minds.
At exactly 1:29 you can see how he fires a second web to maneuver himself into a better swinging position from his first web, and then climbs that one to gain some altitude. Then at 1:31 he fires a web that gets caught around the corner of the building so he can get on top of the ledge. Combined with the insanely agile and spider-like movements, this movie has by far some of my favourite scenes that portray Spiderman's agility and quick-thinking. The fight at 2:16 also shows these pretty incredibly. The Raimi films have pretty decent CGI even to this day, but they don't quite have this level of insane movement from Spidey. It's something I really appreciate from Marc Webb's Spiderman.
There was also some pretty cool web swinging action in the beginning of the movie, when he tries to stop the Russian from stealing plutonium(?)... I don't care what people say about ASM2, but it's action is some of the best

It's unfair to compare Harry's Goblin to Normans Goblin. They are two different people. I like this Goblins Attempt at separating from Willem's performance. TASM's universe has a gritty and dark tone which this goblin fits right in. If he had more screen time and development we could see a full version of the goblin face like in the comics. I see this as an anchor point for him being goblin, until he fully becomes a true monster.

I can't even be mad at Harry tho. He's like "Peter can you help me?" and Peter goes "nah g, stay here and die alone while I move to England with Gwen."
That's not quite what he said. Peter wanted to do further tests to see if Harry's idea would work, and not just do it out of fear it would hurt him further. He also knew that his dad coded those spiders to the Parkers so it may not even work. But in classic villain (and also kind of humans in general) fashion, because he couldn't get what he wanted when he wanted it, Spiderman had "betrayed him" and suddenly him dying became Spiderman's fault.

Disagree. He was terrible. It was like he was on crack that he tried to replicate Willem Dafoe’s over the top demeanour and failed horribly. @@cabnbeeschurgr That is because he sucks. Even James Franco was better because that version of Harry was jealous of Peter getting more attention from his father. I think that while the design for Goblin's head isn't that good- I liked the biomechanical suit itself and the glider, as well as the pumpkin bomb design. If they made the green slightly less muted and perhaps made the undersuit a darker shade of purple, I think it could have been almost perfect.
Earlier in the movie, he was sitting in a quiet room, five feet away from Spider-Man. The fact that he didn't recognize his best friend's voice was fucking obscene.
Don't try and hype up how smart and genius he was. He put two and two together after he already got an F.

Cause he'll lose
BUT THIS SPIDERMAN IS BAD TO KEEP SECRETS
His mask didn't come off in Spider-Man 1 (part of his mask getting destroyed doesn't count) or 2
It's a way of expressing the reaction during the final intense battle
YinYang20 I like how the clock stops on the number of the comic issue when Gwen dies

Like or dislike, Harry’s intellect to deduce Peter’s identity at this moment is impressive.
Not as impressive as "how did you get that cut."
Actually, in a deleted scene from the film, harry besides showing this armor that he is wearing, he showed that he could watch peter's life and that was what he was doing for a while
So for me it makes more sense that he discovered peter's identity like that than just seeing gwen and just deducing that he is the spider
Really is heartbreaking.
childhood friends and he knows his voice, not that impressive😝
True, but I feel like the audience didn't need him stating the obvious about Peter saying no. I feel like removing that line would be a good move, just have him do that little chuckle he did.

I think it makes no sense and was not at all sad. Peter was very sure that his blood would kill him, but he didn’t listen. Peter was trying to help him. Maybe he shouldn’t have just come as Spider-Man to Harry’s apartment.

Daniel Quiroz Tom Holland Spidey doesn’t even feels like Spider-Man. At this point might as well name him Iron Boy Jr
Rawden Couldn’t have said it better. Homecoming and Far From Home both feel like the character is always childish and just trying “to be like stark” .

@@R.Gamer99think it’s the latter. I personally can’t stand Tom Holland’s spider man
At exactly 1:29 you can see how he fires a second web to maneuver himself into a better swinging position from his first web, and then climbs that one to gain some altitude.
