Aron, you once said that a creationist at a point has to decide to become either one of two things: an honest person or a creationist because they can't be both. I totally agree with what you said.
💯
Whilst i mostly agree with you, i'll just cite that a person's religious beliefs may be sincere to that person and they may truly believe what they say they believe. This isn't the same thing as dishonesty. It only becomes a problem when said person attempts to inflict his / her beliefs on others; not when they keep it within the walls of the church of their choice.

I love your brutal honesty, Aron! There's a lady that lives in my apartment complex who is a creationist. Creationist don't want to hear how wrong they are, they just want to stay comfortable in their own little fantasy world
the thought of hell probably go through her head whenever she has a discussion like that. thats why they get so defensive. indoctrination is rough. definately when they have been for decades. the believe is brought into their heads from such an age they already believe it before they are even concious about it. its one of the main reasons creationism is still a thing at all. because of the indoctrination from generation to generation. so the parents dont even know they are indoctinating

@Audivision | Acoustic Research Those people don't make me uncomfortable. If they start it, I will happily get into it with them.
The common issues I have when engaging with creationists and bible literalists is that many have a whole quiver full of bumper sticker tritisms. It takes time and expansive proofs to disabuse but one of these. By the time I do, they've trotted out another bumper sticker lie requiring more time and proof to disabuse. Those with the education and knowledge are at a disadvantage because creationists only operate on the very thin film on the surface of a very deep ocean and they care not a whit about engaging in deeper discourse.
1:00 actually true, Aron. "Abracadabra" originates in an Aramaic phrase that means something like "I will create as I speak"
I didnt know that thats amazing
The correct translation=
I, thee Creationist....shall create a critical logical fallacy as I speak.
It's hypothesized, but not confirmed. There are a few phrases that it might be associated with. So far, though, it is inconclusive.

@@WukongTheMonkeyKing It seems to contain the Semitic roots b-r-' "create" and d-b-r "speak", as well as the prefix k- "as, like". The a-prefix also smacks of first person singular.

Abracadabra is a corruption of Avada Kedavra, the killing curse. Everyone knows that...
“There is plenty of evidence for creation”
“Can I see it?”
“No”
Look around!. There is plenty of evidence for creation. The same argument you guys use to defend your world view... Well, were here, right? therefore we evolved.... or we have eyes, right? therefore they evolved... Lol. Both sides are living their "faith". No matter what, creation, evolution, you still have the problem of Jesus' empty tomb... Prophecied in the Old Testament, eye witnessed in the New Testament.
@@dwightwhitman2781 No one is using the existence of humans or the fact humans have eyes as evidence for evolution. That is simply not true. Evolution is supported by experimental evidence.
Also, there is no reason to believe there ever was any tomb. The most probable scenario as endorsed by secular scholar Bart Ehrman is that Jesus was buried in a mass grave as was usual for cricifiction victims. Using your holy book to both propose and fulfill a prophecy is nothing but begging the question.
But even if there was an empty tomb, I can think of a hundred alternative explanations not invoking the supernatural and thus significantly more pragmatic than the resurrection myth.
@@dwightwhitman2781 Circular reasoning (Latin: circulus in probando, "circle in proving";[1] also known as circular logic) is a logical fallacy in which the reasoner begins with what they are trying to end with.[2] Circular reasoning is not a formal logical fallacy, but a pragmatic defect in an argument whereby the premises are just as much in need of proof or evidence as the conclusion, and as a consequence the argument fails to persuade. Other ways to express this are that there is no reason to accept the premises unless one already believes the conclusion, or that the premises provide no independent ground or evidence for the conclusion.[3] Begging the question is closely related to circular reasoning, and in modern usage the two generally refer to the same thing.[4]
Circular reasoning is often of the form: "A is true because B is true; B is true because A is true." Circularity can be difficult to detect if it involves a longer chain of propositions.
@@dwightwhitman2781 No, we really dont. Here's a technique I use to keep a dishonest poster from derailing a thread by deleting their post. I copy/paste the relevant part of their post (that I'm responding to) with quotation marks and highlighting (place an * at the beginning and end of the pasted text). My reply then follows. This works when replying to a reply to a comment. This has the benefit of making it clear what exactly it is you're responding to, all the more so if your reply appears far down the thread from the reply you're responding to.
In the case where the dishonest poster is the original commenter they can, as AronRa mentions, disappear the whole thread by deleting their comment. If one were motivated (incensed?) enough, you could copy/paste to a new comment so others could at least see the foolishness. Or...you could do both.
I'd like to have a "copy thread" option on youtube. Same stuff happens with Flatearthers too
I love how simple and clear you make it for creationists. Many say “magic” is evil and blasphemous….. irony dear god, irony.
"Faith" is required to "Believe in Lies"
Every time I see a new video from Aron, it’s like getting a visit from an old friend that I always love to see!
I also think we should make an official "Christian Projection Check List" in 2023 lol. Every Christian I've chatted with in 2022 has to go through this list... "Who hurt you?" "Are your parents divorced?" "You had the wrong denomination!" We've heard them all a million times..
I have some members of my family that are let’s say moderate or progressive christians. One in particular tells me they already know not only evolution is a fact, but also that the act of creation has no verifiable evidence. They “just believe” because their god brings them a sense of comfort and some sort of psychological reassurance. To me, reaching to that point and not making the jump is just pathetic and frustrating. Great video, Aron!!

Sometimes, when you tell theists that there's no evidence of creation they try to convince you there is and that the earth is flat.
If creationists did manage to prove somehow that creation as the Bible describes it happened, it would have made the headlines around the world by now, and whoever made that discovery would gain worldwide fame from it.
And death threats and attacks from Moslem creationists
I feel very fortunate to be have been sent to a really dogmatic Sunday school at a young age. All the BS lessons and outright lies convinced me that they had no idea what they were talking about. It was so transparent that even a 12 year old could see through it.
I grew up in Indiana surrounded by creationists and I learned a long time ago you never argue with them you get absolutely nowhere.
You are probably right for most cases. But judging from the occasional comment stating "your videos helped me to understand science and made me an atheist" I think it is important work that Aron and others (AXP, Matt Dillahunty, Forrest Valkai) are doing by taking on the debate.
Usually better method is to ask clear, polite questions and wait.
There aren't such really where I live at, in Europe - perhaps some somewhere - but mostly it's just the old fashioned Bible peddlers. Those I get rid of simply by changing to my native tongue - Finn. Well did for a friend too not that long ago.
How ever, how that started, as that didn't happen at the friends place first. I was at my own home. I seen them trying to get to the door - you can tell by their outfits - so I responded in English as I don't speak the tongue of my husband's native country. English is our family tongue. Anyhow the fools changed swiftly into English, obviously from somewhere else than locals judging by the accent. They said that they were 'especially looking for non-french speakers that day to speak about Bible with' - loosely quoted. I stared at them in amazement. ! '-especially non-french speakers-' ! I burst into out right laughter, and told them in Finn, that it was too slick to sound remotely honest and that I didn't believe in god anyhow, but if they wanted to challenge me on about religion - I would not mind, because I had actually been educated about that shit... basically pouring down a flood of words in a language they most certainly weren't about to be able to speak and quite visibly trying to hold down even more laughter. But alas, they haven't been back. A mate of my husband asked in similar situation as to what was it again they wanted to talk about - obviously they said something along the lines about Bible and god - to which he replied: 'Oh, you are talking about that other fantasy book, the one with all those massive editorial errors and contradictions - and NOT the one written by Mr. Tolkien.' Apparently this had them turn voluntarily and never return.
For me it hasn't been an issue to speak about Bible or that stuff in general because in my country we actually have religion as a subject in the school - only while it does have it's parts about any given student's religion, basically the main churches stuff taught by the school and other churches will need to do the same on similar basis - it then also moves a lot deeper into treating religion more like any subject ought to be treated at school. No arguments like - well if religion or science subjects are somehow contradicting or actually on same level. More so having deep dive into first your own, then other christian churches and further again the world's other religions. From theology, history of, what sort of main beliefs its based on and so on. Such that you walk out of that armed with quite significant understanding about the basics of what people believe in. Some folks end up having read the Bible and while 68% people in the country maybe belong into the main church of the state - only about generous 2% of those people will visit a church ceremony more than ONCE a year. If they go, it's generally for weddings, funerals, confirmations (necessary for church held weddings) and christenings. And yes, religion is seen as highly private a matter. More people go to sauna each week, if not twice than to church - well obviously it is about bathing so it would be amazing if they didn't. The point being that - in Finland - if a politician will make any aka too many notably religious comments and arguments publicly, they can kiss their career as a politician bye. This is because people react to doing so in one or another way, neither of which are beneficial for them. a) They can't be honest because they are declaring their beliefs so publicly as if to fish for points. OR b) Are they really that unusually religious - that sounds a wee bit too serious about it all - I am not sure such a hihhuli aka fundamentalist, should have powers to make decisions. So basically, for a Finn - they way American politicians for example, say 'God bless America...' - now that sounds really weird, strange and obviously - rather suspicious at that. In Finland the country better be at war for such rhetoric to pass.
I am obviously an atheist and while I know why - I don't really have a specific day or moment in life when I became one. It just happen, and I met my husband who is one anyhow - to the point that it annoys him when people even speak of religion, namely due the bad shit some folks do in the name of god or some religion. I don't like that either. But I still think like most any a Finn, people can believe what ever they want, as long as they keep it on private level and those beliefs won't hurt anyone. Or that they won't deny evidently real factors of reality - like say things learned via means of science. And honestly - I think, even religious people in my native country would think that way, most. Obviously there are some really minority groups that are hihhuli in eyes of everyone else by default. Never mind if those aren't spoken of as such elsewhere, given that say, in the US you will see even crazier versions. I been to states some few times, as an exchange student and visiting relatives. It has always been a bit troubling for me the way people think visiting church is somehow even important. I have never needed that sort of a community, idk why anyone would. It's odd. But alas, people are as they are. I began to watch these atheist related Tube channels only after the funeral of my father last spring. Mostly because I ran into something of the kind on tube at the right moment, given how damned annoyed I was about all that babbling of god crashing the event for last byes to my dad. About the first time I felt personally annoyed about religion, if we don't consider the terrible situation a friend of mine was in some years before. You see - to me it was insulting to babble on and on about god and what ever heaven or such stuff, when it was not a ceremony or memorial about him - but my father. Short and simple - in my mind god hand no rights to crash my dad's last party. At least I saw my actual dad as a lot more important a figure than some deity.

Aside from the subject matter of this video, I'm impressed by the quality of presentation Aron uses. I'd like to know what editing software he employs and where he got his backdrops for his videos. For the uninitiated, Aron records his segments standing in front of a green or blue background, then, by use of a chroma-key function, the wanted backdrop is inserted. This is done by placing the backdrop on one "track" of a video editing software, then Aron places his presentation onto the overlay track, then goes to his editing functions, chooses Chroma-Key, a "Pippett(Eye-Dropper) icon appears and Aron holds that icon over the green or blue background which then disappears to reveal whichever backdrop Aron has chosen for any of his videos.

@Audivision | Acoustic Research Apes are not human like. Humans are ape like. The creationist got it backwards.
@audivisionacousticresearch3231 I am unsure in what way that apes and humans are similar that the OPs aunt was referring, however, in every way that other apes could be observed to be human like, they are so because humans are apes. All apes are ape like. Humans are apes. Therefore, humans are ape like. To say this is the other way around would be incorrect.
The aunt seems to have taken a human-centric view of the other apes and therefore ascribes “human” behavior, physical likenesses, etc to apes. From an evolutionary view point those same similarities are humans behaving, appearing, etc like apes. All observable similarities between humans and other apes have evolved in each of these species because we are all apes and have common ancestry.

Aron, you sir, are an ABSOLUTE TREASURE!!! Your videos are not only educational, but incredibly necessary in today's world of RUclips and TicTock scientific illiterates and flat Earthers.
Keep up the great work!!! Whatever support you need to continue this "crusade" against the liars like Banana Man and Crocoduck Boy you can count on from me.
Not to disparage Aron's very articulate as usual presentation , but I today came across an account of a flerf proudly debunking himself by means of a conversation with an AI chat-bot .
I got this video, Aron, because I so admire you and your brilliant work. And no matter how busy I am I try to keep up with you, Seth, Matt, Dan, Sam, Richard, etc. AND I AM ALWAYS BETTER OFF FOR WHAT ALL OF YOU TEACH ME.
I have a cat that waits for me to start playing a game before promptly jumping on my desk and sitting on the keyboard 😁
@@TheRatsintheWalls doesn't matter how much of a pain in ass they are you'd never be with out them
Proud to be a patreon!
Just listen to AronRa. You will not lose anything of value by listening yet there is everything to gain for those who do.
Great video as always! I really appreciate what you do and it’s videos like this that helped me go from fundamentalist creationist Christian at 15, to an atheist about to graduate with a degree in biology.
We're glad you elucidated why you make these videos...
Cause that's what inspired us to do a Lotta our youtubing! XD
Glad to see other folks think the me way! XD
I guess the one thing that peeves me the most about science deniers, and even political fights, is this. They'll do just what that woman did. They'll ask a question, which means you need to answer. Then they'll start another question, or quantify the answer you give. They'll keep doing it and then claim victory. One of the numerous Anthonys is famous for yelling, especially about a container and laws, then as soon as you try to answer they yell you down if you can't answer a complex question in 5 second.
I get that all the time when it comes to politics and sports where I live. I've lived in Michigan for nearly 40 years but remain a die hard Ohio State Buckeye fan, from my childhood in NW Ohio, and Green Bay Packer fan. I get asked questions all the time but never get an answer out. I avoid politics as much as I can where I live especially when it comes to 45 and his lies. The town I live in is blood red conservative and too many people think that 45 is still president so I just beg the question off since I know I'll never ever get a point accross
They then claim victory. It gets so annoying.
The gaps into which God can fit get ever smaller over time!
No they don’t! God gets pushed out farther and higher! God is always the Author of Creation and the Author of Salvation!😂
Succinct summary. Correct and accurate. Thank you Aron. For decades I was a fundamentalist and would throw out my dogma to Atheists. I never listened to their answers or sought to test my own beliefs. Truth was I would not really read the Bible too in-depth- nor did most of my fellow congregants , I lazily a believed whatever the pastor preached as it sounded pretty convincing at the time- what a blind fool I was.
Fundamentals are not interested in accuracy or what is real - the god story is too comforting. You helped secure my freedom from religion and I a so grateful to you.
there needs to be a patreon goal for an HD camera, not for full videos, but for behind the scenes animals hair reveal
Upvoting for the cute doggo at the end.
Oh, and for totally pwning creationist nonsense. That too.
I have to admire how you, over many years, work so hard to defend us from a literal dark age when it comes to how science is taught, communicated and sadly under constant attack from people with ridiculous world views. We have to resist the desire of these muppets to turn us into a theocracy.
I found an amazing young lady (Primatologist), called Erika on YT (Gutsick Gibbon).
She presents evidence that completely destroys young or old earth creationists and intelligent designers.
You two would make a great collab.
Remember that not that long ago Aron’s critics would have burned him at the stake and burned his books. Now thanks to modern technology like the internet, his opinions will be available for everyone to see.
opinions? Id say hes describing reality.
The creationists does believe in evolution. After Noah's flood they know he couldn't take every animal so he took kinds of animals that evolved into what we have today
I once was told that this dude had proof from mainstream scientists as he put it that there wasn't enough time for evolution. Dude just pretended he dropped some proof and basically tried to gaslight me into believing he already proved it. People took his side too until I showed screenshots, then it got real quiet..
Yet they think there's enough time for EVERY species on the planet today and all their variations to arise from "micro" evolution after getting off a boat 4,000 years ago 🤣
I've already told you and watch this video - 2 of the most common creationist dodges.
Aron coming out swingin'!
Love the fiery smackdown, both for its tone, but moreso for how each blow has the full weight of *evidence* behind it.
At this point in my life, having been brought up Catholic, wandered through various other belief systems, and ending with the Baha'i Faith (now declared anathema /apostate by them), I thank you, @AronRa , for enabling me to see clearly that which I had been denying in my own perceptions of reality.
You started that when I asked you a question, some years ago, pertaining to Baha'i teachings. You answer was that you weren't familiar with the precepts of that Faith and encouraged me to take a deeper look.
I did.
Belief in deity of any kind can only be indoctrinated.
The default for human intelligence is questioning how things work, and gods are the invention of those primitive minds who had not the means to discover the cause of thunder.
Thank you, once again, for challenging me to look at my beliefs.
..in which Aron goes in on creationists for 20 minutes straight. Hot damn!
deleting a whole conversation surely demonstrates her confidence in her own arguments.
Amazing video as always. The house that this was filmed in is amazing.
The fact these need addressing so thoroughly is evidence of how widespread the gaslighting of children has been by lying parents. Truth extinguishes sickness from our mind. You're a good pod.
Waits patiently in the comments section for the creationists to pwn Aron.
Gonna grab a coffee. Probably going to be a long wait.
Might as well get popcorn too.
You'll gain an insight into the concept of eternity waiting for a creationist to come up with a cogent rebuttal.
When a creationist says to me- "Look at the trees and flowers, look at the ocean, look at the mountains, look at the stars, look at the universe, don't you see gods creation everywhere?" My response- "We do have people that look at the trees and flowers. They're called Arborist and Botonist. We do have people that look at the ocean, they're called Oceanographers. We do have people that look at mountains, they're called a geographer. We do have people who look at the stars, they're called Astronomers and Cosmologist. So I don't know what you mean by looking at all of that, is somehow proof of creation. Because everyone who does look at what you claim is proof of creation says otherwise."
“We keep on being told that religion, whatever its imperfections, at least instills morality. On every side, there is conclusive evidence that the contrary is the case, and that faith causes people to be more mean, more selfish, and perhaps above all, more stupid.”
Christopher Hitchens
One of the most in your face vids that supports evolution & making creationism sound even more ridiculous than it already is. 😎
Celebrity death match, Aron Ra vs...... (Still waiting for the creationist with evidence)
Well said Aron-it’s a never ending battle trying to get people who believe in magic, beads and rattles, tambourines, and phantoms to even begin to understand objective science. If a creationist could prove creation they should first clear a place on their mantle to place their Nobel Prize.
To be fair; beads, rattles, and tambourines are all real things. I've seen them.
I love this video, Mr Ra! It’s honestly a bit sad to see sooo many people so desperate to believe that there is magic in the world. It seems like a coping mechanism to deal with an often cruel existence.
"The unexplained is not an explanation"
you nailed it right there! 👍👍
I dont get how kent and other creationist can say the whole universe and everything in it is created for us, and us alone where nothing matters outside being slaves to a deity. As opposed to what science clearly points out without even one shred of evidence to the contrary that we are great apes.
It wouldn't be an AronRa video without a post-credits scene of him being adorable with his dogs. =D
loved seeing your adorable dog in outtake at the end
A theist asked me what I believe about morality. I told him. He said I was lying and told me what I believed, which wasn't what I actually believed
Thanks, Aron but trying to have these believers listen to truth, is as difficult as making Trumpies see the light too.
One cannot return to Monke if one is already Monke
On a forum where I debate regularly I tried to help creationists by starting a thread that was designed to help them find evidence. To even have scientific evidence by definition one first needs a testable hypothesis. There was a thread started by a creationist with the title "What would refute evolution?" He thought that it would be creationists would be using it to refute evolution. Instead all of the supporters of reality were posting tests for evolution that could possibly refute it and how that demonstrates that evolution is a testable concept. Inspired by that I started a thread to help creationists titled "What would refute creationism?" I even made it clear that this was to help them develop a testable hypothesis for creationism. Oddly enough it is almost at 100 pages and there are as of yet no proper tests for creationism. Go figure.
If you make a thread asking for any application for creationism it would still be on page one :P
In my book, you're tied with Matt as the 2nd greatest modern athiest
I appreciate you Aron! I’ve learned so much from you! It’s even harder to be a black atheist in America and you made my transition so easy
I know Aron. I check Quora posts from my emails and it gets tiring trying to explain to amoeba one celled brains the difference between reality and fiction. Keep up the good fight.
