I was born in '95 so I only knew Jarrett from TNA onwards. When the Network came out and I started watching those old Raws, Double J legit became one of my all time favorites. He might as well have had a sign above his head that said "Boo Me!" he was so over the top and camp. What a freaking legend.
I can't wait until Brian Zane makes a "Behind the Gimmick" episode on Big Hoss McGraw (or any Wrestling With Wregret side character). Everytime the Big Hoss appears on camera, I know I'm in for a comedy treat. 😊
Jeff Jarrett is kind of underappreciated. I feel like I can never tell he is a good heel or whether I really hate him. Not a lot of other guys give me the same feeling.
Owen died on the 23rd of May, not the 26th as you said in the video. I will always remember that day because it was my 20th birthday. Every 23rd of May I always have a drink or a smoke in Owens honour. R.I.P Owen
Double J's Grandmother Teeny Jarrett was also in the Wrestling business as a promoter and his grandfather on his mothers side was a wrestler named Eddie Marlin.
14:03 it was this period I started watching WWF religiously. Double-J and his manager Tennessee Lee: "That's J-E-Double-F, J-A-Double-R-E-Double-T, why its Double-J"
Jeff Jarrett definitely deserves his place in wrestling history. He’s lasted so many years and through my promotions, even co-creating his own promotion that’s still around, along with playing the business smart as well.
Jeff Jarrett is proof that if you're a good all-rounder and are pretty good at taking care of yourself, you'll never be out of a job long in this business. Honestly, besides founding TNA, I think that's his greatest legacy and I think it's a good one. Don't get injured much and be solid at your craft and you can do this as long as you want and as long as people will have you
He honestly gets a bad rep. He’s booking was wildly inconsistent. He was either too goofy, treated like he didn’t matter, or, especially in the late 90s 2000s, too strong for his own good. But he was a good to great workers, good on the mike, and got some really stupid chracters and storylines over.
@@mitchellima7548He's one of my favorites, actually. He's good at everything. Not the best at anything, but good at everything. He can talk. He understands whatever character he's playing. I became a fan of Jeff when I first started watching wrestling back in 1999, when he went to WCW and became The Chosen One. I hadn't seen any of what he had done before in the WWF so I didn't understand all the animosity towards him. Thank you for shedding some light into the history of Jeff, I knew some parts but not all. I'm still a huge fan of his and will always be, and if you decide to do a video about TNA or any other part of his career I will look forward to it. Thank you Brian 😊
Excellent vidjo! Double J was amazing. His intros were catchy with his Ain’t I Great music, spelling out his name, And his catch phrase “Oh, makes me sick to mah Stomache!” He was the new WWF Generation version of the Honky Tonk Man, and he ruled!
The negative space made by the straps makes for the 6 strings. Flesh(1), strap, flesh(2), strap, flesh (3), strap, flesh (4), strap, flesh (5), strap, flesh (6).
Double JJ was one of my favorite wrestlers. I even like the longer hair and straps lol. Good video. I don't think Steve Austin liked double JJ before the 316 comment.
I dont care what anyone says i LOVED double J a very underrated star in wwe BUT a huge deal in wcw on his 2nd run that is and finally got his flowers and a rightful sport in the hall of fame
I was a WWE fan growing up, so I had no idea who this Jeff Jarrett guy was. Looking back now, I appreciate that he has given his entire life to this business. He definitely had one of the best gimmicks of all time. What was more satisfying than watching someone get clobbered with a guitar? His accomplishments and contributions to the wrestling world cannot be denied. And he is still going strong today. Unbelievable. Jeff, I've enjoyed getting to know more about you over the years. And it is my opinion that history will remember you as one of the greatest to ever do it. Thank you.
Tom Campbell's reach is far and wide, I see, with the Total Nonstop Arseholes reference. 😂 As usual, another great video to add to the WWW library, Brian. Ha ha, ain't he great?!

I love this new series behind the gimmick. I hope they'll be more. I especially love it's sort of a parody of vh1's behind the music. I was never mad about his outfit. I didn't care about it.

I always really liked and respected Jarret's work. He's the last survivor of the old wrestling territories days that gave us immortals like Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes and Jake Roberts and Roddy Piper and so many more. He could always cut a good promo and work a good match in the ring, and he could get heat anywhere. No surprise given that he grew up in the business that he's also been a good booker and agent over the years. He's been there, done that, and gotten the t-shirt. So thanks for all the memories, Double J!
4:10 Here's my feeling on it. I don't care how good the ladder match was, screwing ten guys out of a payday was complete bullshit on their part. I mean admittedly I think the Kliq's done a _ton_ of harm to wrestling over the years, so there's a bit of bias, but come on, Bryan! Shame on you! Shawn and Scott were in the wrong, here.

The five straps actually was Jarett thinking ahead. Instead of a six string guitar he was a five string bass looking to get into the nu metal scene
This is now canon.
actually I think he was trying to join noted tennessee mathcore group The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
He had no musical talent, so Nu Metal would suit him down to the ground. In fact being so bereft of talent should have got him a gig with Limp Bizkit.

Chuck Norris' kicks are so powerful they gave Jeff Jarrett his first title in the WWE.
They were definitely channeling Dennis Leary with the “you know what pisses me off” promos.
