I own this 1985 Toyota Corolla 1300DX 5-door Hatchback (AE82), manual transmission. It's a very reliable car, has never broke down so far. It always starts immediately, even when it has been standing still for weeks (even months) during the winter. You just got to love these Corolla's!
This commercial would have been aired around September 1985 in Australia as that is when the Hatch was released. My one was produced in September/October 85..
Edit: The sedan and Seca "liftback" were released in early 1985 in Australia, then in September 85 the Hatch was introduced too, mainly aimed more at the younger demographic as its aesthetics were more appealing than the sedan or Seca versions.
Jumping robot lol... As it was, Toyota did a few strange things with this generation of Corolla, notably that there were TWO different bodystyles available for both sedan and 5-door hatchback variants, the wagon was the previous generation, and that while the mainstream sedans and hatches had front wheel drive, the coupes (AE86) were rear wheel drive!
This commercial would have been aired around September 1985, as this is when the hatch was released in Australia according to a few car magazines from the time. My hatch is a September/October 85...
