Ivan how to do cold calling properly when job searching after a big career gap of 5 yrs.. i am an engineer in Aec construction industry..
Hello, what do you mean? You are looking for a job after a career break and want to cold call? If so, I recommend you to target companies that fit at least at 80% to your profile and call them after you sent your resume. Just tell them "My name is ...., I saw that you were looking for an Aec engineer, I applied online and I have a few questions. Could you please tell me more about the opportunity?" After they give you a bit more information, use that you sell your profile and skills. Finally, plan the next step, no "we will get back to you", book a follow up call in their agenda to know about your job application evolution

Yes, i will be searching for job after a career break so wanted to be sure about this technique - as you said after talking 5potential recruiters my next step would be to ask for scheduling the interview at their office to showcase my ability, skills. Could you suggest some ways to build rapport with them on phone & show how valuable i will be for their organization so that they accept me as candidate for their next interview ? How can persuasion work here.. Do you believe is there any books on this subject which i should also read in the mean time..
