    Great knot first of all and you began wrapping towards your hand but forgot to say so. This as opposed to wrapping towards the end of your finger which would seem illogical but surely someone would try to tie it incorrectly.

      @@davidmatz8538This isn’t the knot to anchor a truckers hitch with.. would be very hard to undo. Use a water bowline, clove hitch & a half, round turn + two half hitches, etc.

    Great pro tip Doug concise and easy to comprehend, of course I would expect nothing less from a McElmury! My grandma on my moms side was a McElmury from Minnesota . My dad was a McElhiney from Tennessee. Two things I know for sure. One, I got a lot of Irish in me. And two is is that you can’t really call yourself a real man if you don’t know how to tie a few good knots
    Actually I got one more since the first one was kinda weak ! And that is that with block and tackle ( rope and pulleys ) there’s nothing so heavy that a man can not lift it.😊

    Would seven turns be considered a hangman’s knot? Because in a hangman’s you don’t go back through the wraps, so I figured there would be some slight differences. Just wanted clarification on that

    • @joshb6993
      @joshb6993 Год назад +1

      No the hang man's is a bit different, it doesn't really cinch up tight on the rope

    Basically a stopper knot with an extra loop. You can just tie a figure 8 on a bite

    • @MrOteron
      @MrOteron 2 года назад +2

      A figure 8 on a bight (not "bite") doesn't serve the same purpose as it doesn't lock itself around the object you're tying into
