It's called a Scaffold Knot, Ashley #1120, technically a hitch.
It's a strong knot, with no sharp bends under stress, and the free end leads neatly back along the standing part of the line, where it can be neatly seized for greater security.
I have one of these knots instead of a traditional eye splice on the main halyard of my sailing yacht, the reason being that it's Spectra for which an eye splice calls for a very long bury that won't pass the masthead sheave. So, ironically, this high tech line has to be given a traditional treatment. It's held for seven years so far, so I think it's proven to be a suitable knot for the purpose.

This deviates from the scaffold by passing through the hook eye a second time. This extra turn does not add additional strength, in my humble opinion, and may make it less secure.

@@catsupchutney Rarely. The right knot for the vast majority of situations is one you can reliably tie correctly, that will hold what it needs to hold and that you Can untie without unreasonable struggle. This particular knot probably won't lock up all that tight because there's so much excess wraparound going on. But that's part of why I don't think it's as reliable as a simpler knot could be for the purpose, nor is it anywhere near as time efficient. Lots of people have suggested a bowline for this purpose, and with good reason. I've never seen this knot before, but bowlines really are a part of every day life for people that work at all regularly with ropes or lines, in rigging or securing, whatever.

Bowline can invert, so there's the water bowline, which is a bit less prone to slipping. There are no ideal knots, but generally yes, you use the simplest one for the purpose so that a crew member will be familiar with it if they need to undo it quickly. Climbers, riggers, arborists each have their own favorites.

No matter how many of these videos showing how to tie different knots, you should also practice them until muscle memory kicks in.

И зачем так "путать"? Веками существует и.н. "якорный узел", гораздо проще и не менее надёжный.

Проще булинь с контрольным штыком завязать. Ваш узел самозатягивающийся, после работы с грузом вы его не развяжете.

Fancy knots may be very strong...or very weak. Only lab testing to failure will verify which. I like this one's chances. But I wouldn't use it for anything critical without test results.

It's only as good as its weakest point, so all that bother but on the end of it is a single strand of rope that might hold 100 lbs or whatever the rating of the rope is
