The only reason Klay would be because it's the Lakers. He grew up with the Lakers, his dad played for the showtime Lakers. There are stories of him hanging out with Magic and going to dinner with Kobe. If Klay can't find max money he might as well take less money with the team that he has always wanted to play for.

He doesnt want out, he wants a contract that Warriors dont want to offer. And mind you, they resigned him AFTER he was injured some years ago. It's time for him to pay back the favor and he doesnt want to. Which he can do, that's business, but every team has to understand that if Golden State with first hand experience doesnt and all kinds of off court incentives to retain him, dont want to resign him for his demands, then the Warriors have a case. He never really got back from his injury, he is also much older, he has been in huge slumps, his 3 doesnt fall as reliably as it used to and his defense is also down the drain.
Klay needs to become realistic at some point. Those injuries made him a middle of the fence kind of guy. No one is worried about signing klay. Klay will sign whatever the warriors give him. He will realize that no other team out there will be dumb enough to pay max money to an older no longer 2-way player who has now become a streaky shooter.

2. Him staying with the Clippers is, by far, the best move on the chess board.
