Let me know what you think of the format of this video. Should I just go back to showing the pistol on my work bench? Becuase I would like to go back to just showing the pistol on my work bench 😂
Table top is better, although you should pop in for a quick second with your mask, or a face cutout of somebody random off google just for comedy purposes lol
Watched this series of videos before I bought my Tisas DS Duty (5"). Nothing on the videos seemed to be a red flag for me to warrant spending $1200 on a Prodigy instead of $600 from battlehawk. Trigger - Mine came at 6# and about a mile of creep. Squared the hammer hooks and stoned them to 0.020". Re-cut sear angles, set primary width to 0.020" and polished. Swapped trigger for Staccato long, set overtravel with a check for half-cock rub. Set sear spring to a 1# 4oz takeup/1st stage and a 3# break, nice and crisp. Grip - Swapped to a Prodigy with SA mag release (already textured) and textured the grip similar to yours. Added EGW magwell that went on with minimal trimming of plastic. MSH - Installed EGW Prodigy MSH (steel) with 19# mainspring. Bushing - EGW gunsmith fit 0.703" OD and 0.577" ID based on my measurements. MUCH tighter. Optic - Vortex Defender CCW 6moa. This dot includes the 1degree shim and screws for just about anything. Mine went right on. Only real issue I had was the bottom of the grip safety had to get about 1/16" of metal removed to work with the Prodigy grip and EGW MSH. I am still tweaking that a little as it takes very little movement to release the trigger. The Tisas/Checkmate mags need a taller basepad to reliably seat in the magwell, but they work fine. The 20rd Prodigy mags work 100%. Since installing the upgrades, this pistol now easily holds the 10 ring on a B8 target at 25 yards. It has fed 115gr Blazer Brass, 124gr Blazer Brass, 147gr Blazer Brass, 147gr Sig JHP and my reloads without ANY (none, zero, zilch) malfunctions. That is for a total of 350 rounds so far. The 1:10" twist barrel shoots those 147s REALLY well. I have Just under $1100 in this pistol, including the optic, and I still haven't spent as much as buying a Prodigy that in my experience, isn't as accurate.
palmetto just put them on their site for $600 and I couldn’t pass, immediately after ordering i went on youtube like we all do to see what the masses say. and yes i know it’s stupid to watch reviews after you already ordered a gun but i’ve already heard for the most part these are solid budget 2011s so I wasn’t worried, but wow your videos helped me already pick some parts and got a good idea on some things i’ll be modifying straight out of the box so thanks a lot for posting this last part right in time haha, awesome series of videos very informative 👍🏽
So glad the videos have been helpful! $600 is a great deal! These are a great place to start in the doublestack 1911 game. With a few parts and fine tuning they run awesome!
Psa has good prices but they keep your mags if live in an evil state. Sportsman outdoors has for 600 too free shipping. I just ordered one comes next week can’t wait.

Hey bro. Me again. Haha. So I got the TLR1-HL adapter from QVO and my light will not clamp on securely. One of the side tabs on the light doesnt seem to want to bite on the rail. Any tips?

Thanks for the video series. I've watched about 10 hrs of video in the last 2 days on the budget double stack 1911's. I,m 70 and looking for a hi-cap with a decent trigger. EDC is a Kimber Ultra, but 7 rds. I would probably never put a light or red dot on it. I can get the Tisas for $599 or the Mac 9 for $770. Leaning toward the Mac, but interested in your thoughts. Thanks, Ken
I think the Tisas is the better deal. However, out of the box, neither has a good trigger. It's easy to get a good trigger out of them with a little work. I like the iron sights on the MAC9 better but that's just personal preference. I like bull barrels, the MAC9 was more accurate for me out of the box. The Tisas will likely need a new barrel bushing fit if its loose in the slide. But I think you could take the Tisas to a gunsmith and for close to the price of the MAC9 get a trigger tune up and new barrel bushing. If you can do the work yourself the tisas is even better value. Hope this helps.
@@EngineersArmory Thanks for the reply. I've never worked on any of my 5 1911's but have done some gunsmithing on my bolt action rifles and built my own Grendel AR15 and customized a Swedish Mauser. I have a lathe, 2 milling machines, and a surface grinder in my garage from when I used to make custom liner lock folder pocket knives years ago, so a trigger job or barrel bushing shouldn't be difficult.
Really liked this video series, thanks for making it! Unrelated, but are you familiar with the updated Apollo 11 commander? Was wondering how it stacked up to the b9p
hey man, I've been watching all the carry ds videos and sincerely have enjoyed them and have one as a project gun myself. What did you do to blend the area on the grip below the safety? that's like my only actual issue with mine now after adding a guide rod and a decent bushing.
@@SS-tr5ru I would wait to see if the price drops. I paid $850 for mine but would really like to see the price come down to $750 which I think it will in maybe 6 months. I'll explain more in upcoming videos.
I’ve been following your videos for a while now and I’ve wondering what sights would you recommend instead of the oem sights it came with for tisas double stack

This has billet internals. They are good quality and will be durable. I don't see any need to replace them unless you want to run some crazy sub 2# trigger and really need that tool steel sear for it to be safe and last.

I don't know how comfortable you are fitting a barrel bushing. I also don't know how tight you want it or how bad it will be from the factory.
