    Great video! My only worry with the CLA35 is engine and transmission temps, but now seeing that you do 20-25 minute stints with stable temps means the cooling system is doing its job very well

    Took it on the track today for first time. Had to stop after about 25min, the brakes were squeaking and pedal going to to the bottom... Was disappointing. I think it's at its best off the track and on country roads. Love it for that

    Nicely done, with good technical content.

    So did you disable traction control to ensure the autonomous braking switches off? If you did you should have a dash light come on saying it was disengaged. Lot of people I know are having near accidents because of this system. You've made some bold comments it would be good if you could explain further

    Hi Guys.
    Great video and review Dave!
    I have the same car, slightly newer just by a few months.
    I had a stage 1 tune which just altered the software, no internal components required changing!
    Very good indeed.
    I also have had the car around the same time period as yourself, and I am pleased all round with the car.....Except for the braking as you have described in detail.
    Also having to switch off line activation every time the car is started up!
    Both are quite an issue and are annoying!
    The car in general though is extremely good, and has excellent road handling 👌 👍
    Cheers Dave.

      Ashley J Mellor glad you enjoyed the video buddy! How do you like the tune? Think I read somewhere that they make a fair bit more power than merc claim to begin with, it certainly feels quicker than the numbers suggest.

      @@Scuderia_Dave Hi again, yeah I feel like the car in standard form does produce slightly more than it is reported to Dave!
      I am really pleased with the stage 1 tune done by Celtic tuning.... It is reported to have 55bhp more than standard, and a massive 105 ft/lb of torque increase, taking it up to 400ft/lb or 542Nm!
      It hasn't ruined the car's handling in any way, the chassis, suspension and brakes still cope very well with the extra bhp and torque.
      Perhaps you can get the car a bit twisted up slightly now, especially if on our undulating B roads.
      Great fun though mate!
      My car DOESN'T have the adaptive suspension fitted, I have been told it copes with undulations better when fitted.
      Any ideas? 😊👍

    Hello, I just saw this a bit late, but the trick to disengage the collision prevention system fully is completely disengaging traction control. So how you do this is hold the traction off button for about 5 seconds and it should switch from sport tracktion to traction off as well as showing a warning at the bottom of the driver's display saying traction off. Hope this helps!

    • @Scuderia_Dave
      @Scuderia_Dave  3 года назад

      Great tip, thanks. It's a shame the owner's handbook doesn't explain that. I left traction control on simply because it never actually got activated (and therefore didn't piss me off enough to turn it off), the car has so much mechanical grip that you either need a wet road or crap tyres to actually get any wheel spin.

    Great review. How have you found the fluid temps (coolant, box, engine) in the hotter months? Also, did you manage to get a hot lap time at Oulton?

  • @ssportugal

    What are the wheel specs? Like offset and width?
    Also by disabling the auto brakes won't it throw any codes? Thx

    Hi, great video, I am considering to bring my A35 to track, was wondering if there is any way to turn off the active brake assist / aka emergency braking. Whenever I get close to a car, on road, mountain run, the car brakes itself and it would be a huge problem on track.. Thanks in advance

  • @onpole01

    Great video! Please make more A35 content 😃 have you had issues with the autono.ous braking on the road? How does this work in traffic? If you can't turn it off this would be absolutely ridiculous in built up areas. Nice hack though 👍 isthat radar on all models or is this part of a option pack? Cheers mate

    • @Scuderia_Dave
      @Scuderia_Dave  3 года назад

      Sorry for the late reply! In the UK this basic radar is on all trim levels, possibly because it's required to be standard fit to get a good NCAP rating. The cars with active cruise have a more sophisticated radar instead. I never had any issues with it on the road and honestly, I'd keep it on whenever I was on a public road. I think it just isn't calibrated for doing 100mph and seeing a car hard on the brakes ahead, which is unlikely to be an issue in town.

    Yes! Yes!! the braking assist is really unsettling, it happened to me too on the track, and I was like WTF!! Didn't feel safe at all each time it triggered, leaving me hesitant to push it any further at all. Wondering, do you have a full video on how to disable it? And you say no track pace!! That's just outrageously wrong. Collecting the data to your phone then analyzing it is half the fun.

    Nice vid. I have a35 as well. Isnt it unusual when u tryna launch the car by set left foot on breal and accelerate by right, the gear shifting is not smooth at all, specially from 1 to 2. Is this normal?

    Had my A35 4 months to... when put into reverse it sticks and then jolts back also had an issue with squeaky brakes Mercedes told me it was how i was driving the car but I wasn’t driving it hard at all it was still being run in.... they then kept the car after numerous complaints... they ended up changing the entire brake system under warranty and the service manager told me they know theres issues with the brakes but it would cost too much to recall

      Squeaky breaks are 100 normal in performance cars

    Hey mate, was just wondering if In comfort for road driving, does you gear box ever clunk ? I get clunking when applying throttle usually low revs in second gear. Not always, but a fair amount. Took it to Mercedes and they assured me it’s normal and it’s just the gear box, but would love to get the opinion of another a35 owner. Also, great video. Cheers

    • @Scuderia_Dave
      @Scuderia_Dave  3 года назад

      Sounds normal to me, provided it isn't too loud. Comfort disengages the clutch when you're off the throttle so there will be some noise when you pick up drive again. Lower gears will be more noticeable.

    Great review, about to receive my new A35. To which I’ll be switching up my 2020 C43 AMG. I’ve noticed the pre-safe braking interfering under braking. Did you take off your traction control?
    I’ve done it during track days with my C43 and It seemed to deactivate that pre-safe function. Once that function is off, I believe your brakes will last much longer!

      How are you liking the a35 compared to the c43?

    • @stephaneross6622
      @stephaneross6622 3 года назад

      @@mT_atvF5KCVHlk very different cars. The C43 is a heavier but more powerful car. So it blasts down the straight. A less technical tracks the C43 is quicker but not by much. However, on a more technical track the A35 is significantly faster overall. Better balanced for sure. I’ve also experienced unusual wear from my front brake pads compared to my C43 in the same amount of time. Which I managed to get replaced under warranty.

      Much more civilised and refined but with basically no character. Unless you really need the hatchback or rear seats, I'd keep the Mustang.
