Hall effect sticks would've been a real game changer since they literally cannot develop drift issues. Replaceable sticks is just a way to get people to keep paying for something that could've and should've been fixed.
@L_O_W_K_E_Y-G Legit criticism is not "crying." This controller has some real inadequacies i.e. literally 50% less battery capacity, no hall sticks, only 2 paddles etc. Telling me the sky is blue is inconsequential to pointing out these flaws.
@@tappersreviews4677 I agree with you. I bought the last of us 2 ps4 controller and it had a scratch on it so I returned it for a new one. That new one also had a scratch in it but I was done at that point to return it. Unfortunately This new controller had drift right out of the box and it’s just crazy how this was the case. I have been through 8 ps4 controllers because of drift and this to me is insane because these controllers aren’t cheap. It made me so frustrated that I just moved away from console to pc gaming. The Gulikit King Kong pro 2 is a controller that has magnetic potentiometers/ joysticks that have zero drift and Sony would never move to this type of technology because they want their controllers to break so that you can buy a brand new one that would eventually develop drift again. It is truly sickening.
A good point to highlight about the stick modules is they're interchangeable, so you don't have to buy a replacement module for your FIRST exchange. If you're experiencing stick drift on the right stick, you can swap it with the left stick. Most FPS gamers WON'T experience drift on the left stick FIRST due to less wear, so swapping them after you first experience drift on the right stick might save you $20. Additionally, if you start to experience sprinting issues in games like CoD, you can try customizing the left stick settings to fix it. The sensitivity curve & deadzone can help.
Yup when CoD allowed me to adjust my dead zones in game I was able to overcome the movement issues I was experiencing by reducing the outer limit, no new controller necessary. This having all those settings at system level means the lifespan of the sticks can be stretched that much longer before needing replacement.
@@Whatdapak A lot of games let you increase the deadzone in-game. Increasing the left stick deadzone percentage should help. If it's THAT bad, it might need to be well over 10%. Your left stick input threshold will be less responsive, but at least there won't be idle drift.
One improvement I've noticed that the Edge has over the Dualsense is that the area where you rest your pinky has been rounded compared to being more angular/pointy on the original controller. I've seen a few people complain about that on the Dualsense because it would jab into your fingers causing fatigue over time
I've only had mine for a few days. Even though I've not delved too deep into customization like stick sensitivity (yet), I absolutely love it. It looks great and feels even better. I feel I more control than I do with the standard which tend to feel slippery. But the biggest selling point for me is that it takes less than a minute to swap out the sticks. Anyone that has experienced stick drift knows your controller is pretty much a paperweight now. That is no longer the case. 8-10 hours of battery life is perfectly fine with me. I do not get to sit and run for that long in one setting anyway. I can easily sit it on my charging dock when I'm away. Even those who can sit for that long. the cord is SUPER long. This is a beautiful design that does make you think given the price tag. But in a relatively short amount of time, it's paying for itself and then some.
@@osklud well over a year later and I still love it. Still on the same stick and has not begun to drift yet. While the battery does not last as long as the standard controllers, it still lasts more than long enough for me. I don’t sit and game for 6+ hours at a time. And even if I did or left it off the charger. The plug that comes with it is very long. It delivers for me.
I got this controller, and it is so good. It has excellent tactile feel to all buttons, and metal paddles fit my hand really well. The one item which surprised me most was the R2, L2 trigger limiters. It makes the response clearly faster. I use middle position, somehow it is most ergonomic for me.
One thing that no one has mentioned is that you can actually swap out the right and left back paddles to have them more protruding. I like it better that way

I love it. Just got mine yesterday and it feels amazing. Has a decent weight to it and the buttons feel amazing to press. The back triggers are nice having two options. Dome triggers for people who use their middle fingers and paddles for people who use their ring fingers. Its something i need to get used to using but i can already see the difference. Its definitely worth the buy if you dont like the xbox layout or the feeling of a scuff.
The mouse click triggers seems useless, I had a Scuf impact and it was literally like a mouse click. Awesome for a FPS. Can you tell me more about this? Drift problem still here? My dualsense died after 3 months, crazy to pay brand new controller for my PS5 and it last 3 months. I really take care of it..
I’m getting 6+ hours of playtime with this controller. Not sure who the hell needs to play longer than that without taking a break… seems like a giant non-issue to me. Worst case scenario is you can plug it in with the 3m braided cord for a while. Or use any of your normal dual sense controller for an hour or so (gasp).
6 hours is weak dude. I can use an Xbox elite controller and easily not have to charge it for a whole week. And that’s with playing over 8 hours a day. So yes 6 hours for a 200 dollar controller is a friggin ripoff.
Ive never owned a playstation, so I don’t know a whole lot about their controllers, but the customizable thumb sticks and the carrying case with a hatch for charging alone were really cool features to me, on top of everything else that it has to offer
I like the fact that you can replace the sticks, and I think Microsoft should implement the same idea for their elite controllers too because stick drift is a real pain
The problem with the stick is a created problem, the earlier controllers never had these problems, the manufacturers introduced this problem on purpose so that we buy new controllers every year. Google it that's unfortunately really true...
Microsoft is going to end getting Law suit if they replicate don't you guys know copyright and patent Laws intellectual thief is against the law in the United States that would be a very dumb idea of Xtheft?
@@lukeblersch1444 Yeah I do know about copyright and patent law, Xbox made their sticks removable albeit magnetically and also made them different heights Xbox was the first to do that as far as I know, and Sony wanted their version of a , for want of a better term their version of an "Elite 2" Controller and blatantly stole the idea of detachable sticks and implemented the same idea, but just in the "Sony way", just not magnetic, so are they in breach of copyright and patent laws?
I usually play shooters without any vibration, and I sit next to my PS5, so I'm actually happy they haven't gone for a really big battery that increases the weight of the controller significantly. I also never play more that 5 hours in one sitting 😆
I think the reason why people are frustrated is because like everything, batteries are consumable parts. The more charging cycles you put them through, the shorter every charge is going to be. Right now your five hour gaming session is fine on a brand new battery. But in six months when you have charged your battery every single time you play you’re going to notice the issues with the battery. And for a $200 controller, it seems like an oversight. By comparison, the Xbox elite controller, has a 40 hour battery life. Which means per gaming session, it will undergo less charge cycles than this controller. Which means the battery will last longer. I mean on the regular dual sense controller that I have had for about a year now, it only lasts about seven hours. And that’s with all the extra features turned off. When I had them on, I could barely get 4. Compared to launch, that’s a big drop off
@@SMGeezus Got my Dualsense Edge yesterday. The battery is definitely not a "SeRioUs issue.." But I get your meaning when it comes to the price point I´ve had my dualsense for 2 years, and battery feels the same almost. I will take a 5-8 hour battery instead of 40 hours aaaany day of the year if it means I get to use this Edge controller instead :)
@@SMGeezus realistically. Have you ever had to change the battery on a controller ? I have a 9 year old ps4 controller still running strong. People are grasping at straws.
@Nico Gonzalez a regular lithium ion battery can handle a minimum of 2000 charge cycles. At 4 hours a session that's over 400 DAYS of charge time. If you put that much time into gaming. Go outside and get sunlight.
PS5 PRO 💙 - The replaceable sticks will be the reason I buy this. I had accepted my skill ceiling playing COD bc I refused to buy another SCUF just to get a small leg up - knowing it would break in 6 months and be $200 down the drain. $20 for a new thumb stick when they start to go is brilliant. My only other concern is the durability of the back buttons. Another shortcoming of the SCUF.
The adjustable triggers are cool but in COD you can flip the controls to use L1 and R1 to aim and shoot and that is so much better. You get the instant shots with any controller.
I just now discovered this is out, and I'm jumping on it! It's a good price I think. I've been waiting so long for them to come out with the back button attachments, and this is better! I'm so excited. Buying them now

Yes absolutely. I just picked up a second hand one from a store and it has changed my gaming within 2 hrs. Remappable buttons with the extra paddles has truly enhanced my pvp. Love it.
Thanks for this review. I am an older gamer (56) and I have developed some nerve issues over the years. Being able to customize this and remap buttons is a game changer. Think I’ll be picking up one of these.
Picked this thing up from the ps5 store. Can’t wait for it. It cost a good penny but down the road it will all worth it. Since I already replaced two os5 controller from the thumb stick always running away from me 😅. I sit my controller down and my character is off running amid to nowhere.
Mine liked to spin, or would suddenly dart into oncoming gunfire in PvP 🤣 I kept thinking my "team"mates were pushing me outta the way/sacrificing me, then when I started moving in the social zone w/o touching the stick... yeah. Was time for a new controller.

Battery is actually *33% smaller. Capacity sacrificed for the back buttons, I saw in a teardown. Not an issue for me personally, but I'm just sharing why it doesn't last as long. I like pretty much everything about this controller. The only issue I have is the price 😂. Personally, im not comfortable dropping $200 on a controller but that may change in the future.
Considering the regular controller is 70 plus bucks with tax you might as well just spend the extra buck if your in need of a controller and have to buy 1.
Ok it is $130 more. Im just the type of person that is willing to pay an extra $100 if I feel like what im buying is a step up. Which the controller clearly offers a lot more than a standard controller.
@@Dwatts24111 also you do have a point that the edge controller has SO MANY NEW FEATURES. It's not hard to see the value of having button layout presets, trigger stops, improved grip, interchangeable thumbs ticks etc.
I'm surprised that Sony didn't call the backpaddles buttons L4 and R4 instead of LB and RB which sounds to me just like the word "button". Not trying to nitpick, it just seems like a better way of identifying them to me. Also, the charging cord lock is probably the best addition to a controller besides both having replaceable analog sticks and a removable cover for said sticks (would still prefer removable hall effect sticks along with the housing case but that's just me), since I can't count how many times I've ruined charging cords by cords being yanked out of my controller(s) by me or other outside factors. The lock should be a universal addition to more then just the dualsense edge if it works like it's intended to.
Great review. I've owned a few controllers now with back buttons from both Scuf and Aim Controllers. @@chunkylilpeanut you think you can buy a ps5 duelsense with all these features for 100?? The regular controller is $70 already lol that’s just not possible. Other legit modded controllers are 200+. @@mikem2253 I really dig the controller. I still need to get more games with it and I want to see how it lasts over the long term. However I love the feel of it, the trigger adjustments, and configuration abilities.
You should have mentioned the following: - Shown the viewer the exact parts of the rear that are made from rubber and described how it feels. - Talked about the back buttons how they are magnetically attached and how easily they can be swapped out of removed ( I love this by the way) - You should also mention that sony and other companies do not currently sell replacement thumbsticks (they only sell the complete analogue module for £20 which comes with only a default ps thumbstick that we are used to on normal dual sense controllers.) These are what I think could be the final bits of info for anyone contemplating spending half the price of a ps5 for a controller. PS I have one since release day and I'm in love knowing when I destroy the analogue from playing cod I can just hot swap it soon as I see stick drift.
My friends the white rubber at back gone yellow already so to me I would but if they released a black one but I shall stick to my standard black one I love the duel sense
Just got mine a few minutes ago. I am a bit disappointed that the trigger stops still have substantial travel even in the shortest setting. Also, I didn’t realize how much of a crutch using 4 paddles has been for me. I caught myself wanting more buttons on the back already. I’ll still keep mine, but I hope they have a 2nd gen already in the works for next year.
The fact that there are only 2 back buttons and the triggers are why I am still leaning more towards the Razer Wolverine even though I would lose out on some PS5 functionality. I use my controllers as much, if not more on PC, than I do the PS5 anyway, especially for shooters. The triggers on the Wolverine can be set to where they are about the same as a mouse click. The Wolverine also has 6 extra buttons. 4 on the back of the controller and 2 extra buttons up top where the the bumpers and triggers are. Razer has a patent on these 2 extra buttons so you will not find them on any other controller. I had the DualSense Edge on pre-order but cancelled it.
nice demo review! personally i think the glossy plastic looks ugly. fingerprint fears aside. Also a 12 month warranty feels a little short considering the parts replacement nature of the device and considering the price.
Seeing as the glossy case pops off, that gives you the option of wrapping the glossy face if it does end up getting really scratched up, bringing more customization.
Impressive stuff. It's by far the most advanced controller I've seen. Of course it's expensive, but already owning an AIM ps5 controller, I must say the difference in features is overwhelming in favor of the PS5. The FN buttons do feel like a bit of overkill. They're super nice, but since you can also remap and save up profiles in the PS5 I'd rather have and extra two back-buttons to support all 'right thumb' buttons. As far as the pricing goes, you'd have to compare them within other controllers in the same segment. Looking from that perspective they're not expensive at all. In fact, gaming is a really inexpensive hobby when you think of it. Think about for how many hours you'll be using a controller like this.. All in all, great stuff.
Didn't know that and I was looking into buying one hence why I'm watching this video so thanks . And when RUclipsrs say " they sent me the product but all opinions are my own" is bullshit . They need to keep good with these companies so they continue to get the free stuff to review do videos which makes them money . Imagine they say don't buy it then Sony might not send him anything and that's potential loss Revenu
I have always had an Xbox and the Xbox elite controller and picked up a PS5 last year because I wanted to try something new when I am not gaming on my PC. It is nice that Sony finally came out with their own version of a customizable controller, and I just bought one.
just got mine few days ago, best controller, for me atleast. for pc there are better options but for ps5 i think its the best if you want the adaptive triggers and stuff. the option to just get new sticks is amazing. ok "i could buy like 4 normal controllers for the price" but no. the idea here is to have a pro controller... and a new one is 250€ so 20€ for new stick is better in every way. sure they could of used the kinda sticks that dont get drift but...yeah. then the battery life, I havent noticed much difference to my old normal one its about 5-8h and thats fine, i dont mind charging it often and it also comes with a long cord if you dont have one. so you can play while charging/wired from far (i have about 2m to my tv so a long cord is nice to have). then the 2 paddles are enough for me, ik some might want/need 4 but oh well.
My main concern having owned many many many pro controllers are the paddels wearing off over time, it’s not replaceable like sticks are, wish there was a way to address it. Not to mention how scummy it is for Sony and MS to not have magnetic sticks to get rid of stick drift as an issue just to get a quick buck off of bad quality sticks, gotta love how they are more of an issue recently allowed to the last 10 years cuz of Nintendo, what a coincidence!!
I remember the way the ps3 controllers were built. I still use bumper swap in game setting to get more of that trigger feel, plus I feel I aim better. I do miss the rounded higher sitting thumbsticks though, but why get this over a scuf if you’re already spending $200+.
I got 4 hours battery life yesterday after buying it. I fully charged it up and battery lasted 4 hours. It's a good controller and feels nice in the hands. Worth £200? I think if battery life was a lot better I'd say yes. Xbox elite series 2 controller battery lasts 40 hours from full charge. Stick drift should never happen when you got pro controller as I do worry about that!
It's a hefty price tag, but the controller will basically last you forever. The completely swappable thumbsticks is the holy grail feature of this controller. This is what wears down most on controllers and the option to completely replace the whole module is absolute perfect. If they wear out, u just get a new module and basically have a new controller...
@@guylee0 if you play fps alot, you'd know that left thumb stick stops working after 3-4 months. It's 75 bucks for a new controller. I literally have 8 ps5 controllers because of the broken left stick. The dualsense else was a god send.
@IndieGames4K I actually just got the ps5 but have repaired multiple ps4 & ps3 (ps3 mostly) controllers and can definitely agree with that as well. I don't play as much anymore but I'm definitely feeling that easier stick replacement 😌 just in case...
While I appreciate the fact that they're thinking about stick drift for the player, the easiest way to get around it would be you use a hall effect sensor, I've had to send my Elite series 2 back under warranty for drift and after hearing that what I would get back was a refurbished one and not mine but fixed, that to me was a big question mark as I take great care of my stuff and it still failed, I bought a Gulikit Kingkong 2 and tbh, other than the lack of back paddles and it's lower 100hz polling rate which sometimes bothered me at the start it's great, after seeing this controller, I'm just disappointed that rather than fixing the cause of the issue, they designed an entire hot swap system so they could still find a way to sell you something, elite seems to still have some advantages despite probably being due a refresh such as better hair triggers and in my opinion more versatile rear paddle set up but I could have been persuaded to over look it if Sony did something ground breaking, just feeling like more of the same unfortunately.

I might pick one of these up, the main reason I really loved scud for so many years was because of the trigger stops. The new ps5 controller does not yet have trigger stops.
You can adjust the trigger on pc by using an application and even configure the haptic feedback, can’t remember the name but still better than paying extra.
The locking mechanism is huge for anyone using a controller on pc. Since it connects through cord only and not Bluetooth any movement could make the controller disconnect so the locking would fix that. Big W

I got this controller, and it is so good. It has excellent tactile feel to all buttons, and metal paddles fit my hand really well. The one item which surprised me most was the R2, L2 trigger limiters. It makes the response clearly faster. I use middle position, somehow it is most ergonomic for me.
How much you get yours for?
Thank you for mentioning that it fits in the original Dualsense charging dock. Not enough other videos on it mention that.

Only 6 hours a day?, you just have not embraced the gamer way. How disappointing 😞
Same.
6 hours is weak dude. I can use an Xbox elite controller and easily not have to charge it for a whole week. And that’s with playing over 8 hours a day. So yes 6 hours for a 200 dollar controller is a friggin ripoff.

I also never play more that 5 hours in one sitting 😆
Totally agree all this battery life stuff does my head in
I think the reason why people are frustrated is because like everything, batteries are consumable parts.
The battery is definitely not a "SeRioUs issue.." But I get your meaning when it comes to the price point
I´ve had my dualsense for 2 years, and battery feels the same almost.
Comparison, I got Xbox elite controller for my PC, feels like total crap in my hands tbh. Bad quality overall, stickdrfit is CRAZY after just 4 months..
Mine just came 5 minutes ago ( UPS ). 👍🏽

You should have mentioned the following:
- Shown the viewer the exact parts of the rear that are made from rubber and described how it feels.
- Talked about the back buttons how they are magnetically attached and how easily they can be swapped out of removed ( I love this by the way)
- You should also mention that sony and other companies do not currently sell replacement thumbsticks (they only sell the complete analogue module for £20 which comes with only a default ps thumbstick that we are used to on normal dual sense controllers.)
These are what I think could be the final bits of info for anyone contemplating spending half the price of a ps5 for a controller.

How long did it take to stick drift 😢 sorry that F enn sucks

Because Scuffs don’t have durability and are 3rd party… this is first party. Same goes for Xbox and the elite series 2 and core
This is so much better than any scuff
Scuf has a short warranty
Scuff using that custom screw is tight - Scuff stick drift is insane - one molecule of dust and I'm dowsing it in alcohol...again!

I love this controller, the adjustable L and R2s are great for FPS, but the paddles are a bit awkward when holding the controller. The back buttons are much better though.
Waiting to get my 30 anniversary edge controller when it finally releases next week👌
Miss my dad
Did he get the milk

I like it but $200?! Sheesh
11minutes to talk about a controller. So in-depth and covered everything. Fantastic review!
Thank you 🙏
I love my controller, I’m gonna be rocking the domed sticks at all times. I always missed that old feel of the controller.
Imagine throwing your controller and your ps5 also starts flying because you put the usb c lock on your controller 😂😂
This happened yesterday
my favorite part is changeable tumbsticks.
I’m getting this controller for my birthday and I’m so excited even tho it’s costs 200 us dollars
I might pick one of these up, the main reason I really loved scud for so many years was because of the trigger stops. The new ps5 controller does not yet have trigger stops.
The locking charger is huge, my chargers get worn down and start just slipping out of my controllers so having something to keep it there is like🤯🤯🤯
As an Xbox player I have to say the replaceable thumbsticks is an impressive feature 🙂
The different thumb sticks actually do help with fps helps with sniping and accuracy. Ps3 times mw2 good Old days
Can you setup the back buttons to be the left stick and right stick
Ps5 pro ❤️ already waiting for mine to get delivered 🥶
It something weird I do, I like watching your videos over and over again because the controllers and the console are amazing.
analog sticks, the only thing that ever breaks are the analog sticks. Being able to replace those separately. so clutch.
You can adjust the trigger on pc by using an application and even configure the haptic feedback, can’t remember the name but still better than paying extra.
This is an amazing detailed video on the controller !
Glad it was helpful!
The locking mechanism is huge for anyone using a controller on pc. Since it connects through cord only and not Bluetooth any movement could make the controller disconnect so the locking would fix that. Big W
What are u talking about? U can connect it via bluetooth. Using dualsenseX which allows even haptic adjustments, ds4 or steam.
Already have my scuf with mouse click triggers. It costs a little more, but totally worth it if you primarily play FPS games where those milliseconds matter.
