Phenomenal video! I was able to take a large amount of detailed notes. I'm so much further ahead than I thought I would be. Thank you for such detailed instructions. I pray you have a prosperous 2024!
Thank you for finally putting a video out for those looking for a breakdown of being charged thousands of dollars just to get this information. You are the best!!!
As of May 2022 Teachable changed their policy on Free courses. You are only allowed to put up 10 video lectures. That is very very limited, in my opinion. If you want to put up more content on Teachable you have to opt for one of their "paid" plans. I have therefore switched to Udemy. I'm in the process of putting up 12 free courses there. Each course can contain up to 2 hours of video content. That's a heck of a lot more than Teachable will allow.
What's the point of recording 12 free courses? Unless... courses for people who think of attending church or not? Donating to priests or not? And so on... )))))
@@anthonybreaux4741 My 12 free courses are all part of a health series focusing on heart disease (called HEARThrive). I'm aiming to see how well my material is accepted and to obtain "social proof," so to speak, that I'm delivering content that people can benefit from.
@@Malcolm-Achtman Much easier to record 12 videos and upload them on RUclips in such case. In addition upload them on Udemy and set a price of 5 bucks for each course on Udemy as very few people are interested in free courses.
@@anthonybreaux4741 I'm not sure what you consider to be "very few." Currently, I have 3712 students and over 6000 course registrations (Note: often students will sign on for more than one course). But I do agree in the sense that a relatively minor number of my students actually watch the videos in my courses, despite signing on for them.
This is by far the best step by step video I have ever watched. I was able to pause, take notes, refer to my personal notes, and come back to the video. I am using this as a guide to build and launch my online course for teens & parents. Thank you so much for this!!!!!! 💜
I own a driving school and have some online courses I'm considering setting up and this was very helpful. I have a lot of details that need to be worked out still but actually creating the course with Teachable seems really easy so thanks.
Thank you for the very detailed and informative information! This is extremely helpful since I have created my slides and am ready to record my course for organic gardening beginners, so quite a surprise that you used this example! I appreciate your help with learning more about the process and how Teachable is going to work best for my new business! 🙌
Yayyyyyyyy!!!! Thank you a million bazillion for this video!! I am hoping to make healthy living courses as I grow my channel. Thank you so much!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Just a fabulous video. Thank you. I am excited for more. I've created online courses, but needed an update. I have a Teachable account set up, but never knew how to set it up right. I need help with all of it as I'm jumping back in after creating 4 online courses in 2014-2015. It's time for a refresher.
Great video - thank you! What software are you using to record yourself and also share your screen? I want to do a video course that has powerpoints built in, and I want to go between sharing my screen and having only me be visible (when I am telling stories etc). THANK YOU
This is so good, simple and informative. I really got a lot out of it. I have a technical question--digital courses are subject to sales tax. How is this handled? I'm in Indiana. I just wondered how simple it is.
Love this video and the way you have broken down everything! I'm completely new to course development and this being the first video I've watched for the process makes me feel like I can actually do this lol. Have a quick question for a future business idea. With this business, I would make a different course tailored to each individual customer so that it’s easier to explain the material. My plan would be to make templated sides/scripts and add the ones I need for that particular customer and send them their unique course. Would this be possible within the course platforms used? If so, which would allow me to do this?
Great content! Thanks for the step by step guidance. Looking forward to the next video on marketing! Any suggestions for courses on topics without a mailing list or following?
Thank you so much for your video it was a lot of help. I do have a question…on the payment area You did say that we can do it as a Business or also just do it with our social as a personal income
Great video, thank you. Can the candidate get a certificate of attendance having completed the course? Also, can the Quiz be set up to prevent students advancing through the course without reading the course module content?
Thank you so much for this!! Can you help me understand if I need Samcart or if Stripe is all we need? Early in the video you mentioned using samcart...so just a bit confused. I appreciate you so much!
Where did you market your beta course I’m assuming you had some sort of following by that pt If we have no following starting from scratch …. How do you validate your ideas
Great video. I didn't even notice that I was watching for over an hour. I am in the earlier stages of building my own course which will have a very specific topic. I also cannot find any other courses on the topic I am creating, which can either be a good or bad thing... What do you think about that?
Hi Gillian, I am interested in creating a course on Teachable. Do you know if it is possible to create a quiz at the end of your course on Teachable? Thanks in advance.
In our courses, are we allowed to use external links and directs our students to other people's videos, like Ted Talks or RUclips channels? Or does that infringe copyright?
Definitely working toward creating courses. Is Thinkific very different? I take courses on both. I really dislike having to sign back into Teachable even after just a few min break and after clicking remember me so many times. Thank you!
I’m enjoying your video, but I just noticed that you called homeschooling a hobby. And I wanted to validate you. Homeschooling is an unpaid job and one of the many that women often take on in the household that doesn’t get enough credit as a valuable contribution. I invite you to value this contribution you are making and help uplift others who have taken on this same job. Parenting is challenging; homeschooling adds more to the challenge-both are rewarding contributions. :)
You and your husband are supposed to be a team. You should each do what each of you is best suited for. If you can bring in more money than he and he can teach the kids, then do it. Of course you'll be stigmatized by your fellow women for subsizing the free-loading husband, but that is your business, not theirs. Don't fall into the trap of someone else's expectations for your family. I'll bet you have no idea how much your husband appreciates you for what you do with the kids. Men think that they should be silent, and this is an area where we are wrong. Men, me too, would have happier wives if we would just start talking more. I say let your halo shine bright for teaching the best gift you have ever received on this earth, your kids.
