Beautiful machine. I have a 1980 Series 1 in my shop and I love it.
Nothing like turning those handles and making parts. Even though I have 4 VMC in my shop. Get a manual mill job in the door makes me happy.

Bridgeport makes them in 208,230,460 volt. No metric option is available

Actually the turret swings 180°... cause you can put a slotting attachment on the back of the ram....
Correct. The Head is 90 left and right we will have to move that text it makes it seem like we mean the turret.

If the ways are hand scraped, why are the scraping marks showing a repeating pattern?

They are hand scraped. Hand scraping is an art.
What you are seeing is half moon flaking - look it up. Its done after scraping for oil retention
Don't want to knock the milling machine but take the hand scraping with a pinch of salt . We used to call it flowering and its really BS baffles brains. It just looks nice . Its just ground bedways an made nice by the special, Buucks(wrong spelling) power scraper .made for that application.. as for the oil retention maybe minimal. Why scrape the worksurface table (just asking) when I had my toolmaking business in the 90 s I bought a brand new bridgeport it was rhe worst mill in the shop , has a label on J type head ( made in Singapore) from then on bought Spanish Luguns and Taiwan machines for half the price..

To maneuver it's not hard however to be a machinists thats another thing. Call local shops to see if they would provide training and help.
Hard to justify the price of this with the best CNC machines having comparable prices ..... it's like asking $1000 for an old Nokia brick phone over a brand new iphone .....even if you are doing one off jobs at home the CNC is better in every way
We keep them in stock because plenty of shops order them all the time. They need them and they are always happy with them. If it's not in your budget give us a call we have plenty of other manufacturers we can give you a quote on.

As of May 2021 Base MSRP currently is 17,500 (not including all the options) however have received word from Bridgeport that a price increase is coming. Prices from all Mfg's have been and are rapidly changing week to week. For the past several months. So call for a quote for current info.

The Heads are made in the U.S. The body castings are from Taiwan.

@@SeriousSchitt Castings apparently are very difficult to do here in the US from what we have been told for many many years. Scraping, machining, fitment and the rest by Bridgeport is top notch. When these come in every one is spot on in fitment and quality. Also, the quality from our other Taiwan mill brands is excellent we have had very long standing relationships with them for many years and they do not consider themselves (Chinese) at all. Mine is from 1969. I scraped the ways to 6 tens, the spindle TIR is under 4 tens, BUT: the final dimensions of a 20 inch long work milled for flatness with a 3 inch face mill was 4 thousands off. The machine flexes, regardless of how accurate you make it by scraping the ways, which by the way is hell of a job. Those who have already done it know what I am talking about. The table is overhanging too much in my opinion so I think the design is the problem. I still love the machine for the 2,5 k I paid for it, but for 18 k I wouldn't.

2 horsepower spindle motor, rated to 3 Hp for 30 minutes. Truth is, there are better designed machines out there these days. There are defects in the design that come from the original 32 inch table design the never corrected, and others. It’s too bad. I was hoping Hardinge would update the machine, but they never did.
