By the way, you mentioned getting the wired to avoid some of the discussed issues.. but if you have the XKey Bluetooth Air version.. it will also connect with a wire (USB cable) just plug the cable in where you would recharge the battery and connect the cable via your Lightning adapter of choice (i have the lightning camera adapter, and a different one that only fits on the USB cable).. and it will play with a wire.
Hey go into the Omni settings in midi settings and behavior and make sure Omni is turned on. Connect the xkey and then turn off the midi output for xkey. It should work perfectly
After suffering through this issue from day one I went into computer tech mode and teched the issue. Since making change in "how" or "what" I using to make the Bluetooth connection I've had zero issues with this. Here's the deal people "Do Not Use the Xkey software to pair the device to your computer/tablet/phone. Use the Bluetooth connection settings in the app you're using."
Happy to help! 👍🏽 TBH I don't use much else other than BeatMaker 3, so it's hard to say. I think it may actually be a BM3 issue and I think I may have found a fix. You have to make sure your midi settings in BM3 are set to omni and then make sure to disable midi output. Everything seems to work well after that. Will continue to test!
I like the Presonus AtomSQ. It’s wired, and it’s a pad, so it doesn’t fit your category, but it’s lit up, no key breakage, and can be configured to a keyboard style.
i was experiencing the bluetooth disconnect issue as well specifically with BM3 and was able to resolve it by turning off the output switch in BM3 settings under output devices while leaving the input switch on. haven’t been having the issue ever since so hopefully it stays that way. appreciate the content! 🤘🏽
Same with me. I thought I was losing it when it kept disconnecting, but I saw someone mention your suggestion in the intua forums and I've had no problem since.
Definitely looking forward to some gear review as I need a controller myself. I wanted a full size key option like Akai MPK 225, but they come too large to fit in a backpack. I’m not a fan of mini keys (I had a Keystep and sold it recently), but sadly there is not much choice.
Great question! I don’t use Cubasis regularly, so I wouldn’t be the best voice on it, but I’ve at least had trouble connecting in Cubasis once. Not sure if it’s a recurring issue. Also, I think I found the fix for this in BeatMaker 3, so it could very well be a BM3 only issue.
I have excactly the “cut off” issue in auria pro and FRMS. I have contacted CME but unfortunatly I must say that they were not helpfull at all. Sad because it is a pretty cool midi keyboard but at the end of the day i can NOT recomend it because of this issue.
I have the same exact issue with Logic Pro even with Korg microkey Bluetooth keyboards. Everything is fine when using MainStage , keyscape (stand-alone mode). Hoverer it disconnects whenever I open up Logic Pro.
Yeah, I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to take this video down, because I did find what seems like a fix for my issues in BM3, but I keep getting more and more reports of people having similar issues in other programs, so I decided it keep it up.
@@MusicTechnologist even CME x key customer support don’t reply my problem. Another issue, I can use it on Logic Pro x with no problem in my old 2016 MacBook 12 inch
Yes sadly I’ve had an hour now and it would connect for a minute and then it stopped. It will not connect at all now. Worked in GarageBand for a minute. Would not work in beatmaker 3 at all. So far just expensive paperweight
What’s good brody bro?! I’ve heard there’s an update that may fixed this. I haven’t tried it yet! I plan to this weekend tho! I will let you know! 🙏🏾👊🏾🙏🏾👊🏾
Get a Microkeys2 Air instead, the Microkeys2 has a better keybed than the CME (bar the aftertouch, which it doesn't have). It's f*ckin' dope keyboard!. I play the keyboard from my bed, no bluetooth issues at all. I should mention, my Microkeys2 Air 49 is connected via bluetooth (no wires) to the CME Widi Bud Pro which is attached to my PC. It's not necessary to use one, but, I bought one to use with the keyboard to insure a strong as heck, stable bluetooth connection. The Microkeys2 Air comes in several sizes. 25, 49 and 61 Keys. Hopefully this info is useful to someone.
These are awesome but the Bluetooth doesn’t work because of latency

Didn’t work for me.
It’s a BM3 issue. I use to use it in AUM and it never fails.
I sold mine. Tonality suits my needs for chordal work. I use the on screen keyboard for melody.
There is a Bluetooth update in the XKey app. You have to run that.

Thanks for this little update. Does this bug happen in other DAWs, or is it just Beatmaker 3?

Yes. I have the bug in Auria pro and FRMS synth. It think that it also occured in Retro Piano. So it is not only on DAWs you see this issue.

Is it possible to connect an irig duo and a xkey 25 to the ipad charger port at the same time?
Are there problems with it using cubasis?

Just pulled me xkey out to use it and sure as s**t, I hit play and it disconnected 🤬
I know bro. It’s pretty annoying
@@MusicTechnologist @kxmmeron down below has the answer. Fixed it and no longer an issue 💪🏾
Thanks! Yeah, I’ve always had better success with output turned off. Not sure if maybe I accidentally toggled it back on or not. I’ll have to check.
