Picked up the 50Sii with the 35-70 and ~7500 clicks for $2000 even. Couldn't refuse. Local wedding 'tog upgraded to a 100. Sold my Sony gear to cover it. Haven't looked back.
Gotta say, as a dad/hobbyist 'tog who *does not* earn money from photography, the 50Sii is a BEAST! People who say "oh it's too much for amateurs, you won't see the difference" *haven't actually shot one and seen the spectacular output*
Such a good complement to my X100V. It seems to be only gear heads online who say "oh it's outdated, etc etc"... but they don't realize a lot of pros are shooting 6-8-10 year old digital bodies and get by *JUST fine*.
Would I shoot wildlife or F1 racing or baseball with it? No. For candid shots of adult humans and my kiddos, even when they're running at the playground, it's utterly fine.

Bought it a few weeks ago, and I'm putting it through it's pacing before I write my review. Theo is spot on when he talks about value and bang for your buck, I shot an assignment for a client, and they ended up calling me back to tell me how great the files were that came out of it. As someone who's coming to this from a 5DsR, I can tell you it's NIGHT AND DAY.

@@michaelfloyd3651 Get the Fuji with the rebates going on right now. Nothing can touch the medium format sensor. A guy who's got both the M11 and 50S II told me, the Fuji's just so much better IQ wise. It's not megapixels, it's sensor size. It'll save you a lot of money too, over the Leica. I got my first GFX on Friday, and the files are insanely good. So good, that I can't imagine the 100S offering anything more IQ wise.

Hi Ken. Thank you so much for this and all you videos. I’ve been watching you for years and you are consistently ahead of the market and don’t get swayed by hype. I’m taking the leap into fine art photography and was looking at the D850, but with this camera plus lens at so close a price…I think I’ve now found my new camera. Thanks again. Take care and see you on the next video.

    Hi Ken
Thank you for an excellent video I’ve just bought A GFX 100 for £3600 this camera is amazing and excellent value for money I cannot believe it was £10,000. Two years ago. I have tried the Fuji gfx 50 s ii Also I’d liked it you really can’t go wrong which ever one you choose

  • @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
    @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy Год назад +2

I got this same combo on Friday, and yea it's a beast. I don't know that after seeing this image quality, that I could ever go back to anything else. The amount of effective pixel data it captures is astounding. I say "effective pixel data" because the 40mp X-H2 with nearly the same horizontal resolution, can't hold a candle to this GFX 50S II, proving that it really is sensor size and not megapixels that matter. Every pixel that's captured, is better. I sent back the X-H2, and I'll keep my X-T3 for shooting Ebay photos, so I can sell all my other cameras and buy more GFX lenses. One interesting benefit to this sensor that nobody ever mentions, is it's lack of potential banding issues on account of there being no phase detect sensor rows, and because of the microlens design, people who have compared both side by side, actually said this 50S II is sharper than the 100S. So if you're a landscape, studio, or product shooter and don't need/want fast eye-detect autofocus, and half the RAW file size, this may be your camera. I only have this one though, so I can't compare to the 100S yet.

Great review. I completely agree. Portraits. Landscape. Product!!
I’m going to add the canon 100-400 v2 and sell my fx 100-400
So my landscape / wildlife / portrait kit will be:
    Gfx 100S
20-35 (23 till zoom comes out)
    35-70
    80f1.7
    Canon 100-400 with 1.4
Since the canon focuses to 36 inches, it is great for quasi macro shots.
I would not use this set up for running cheetahs, but most of my fx 100-400 are of relatively stationery critters.
Bottom line this is a one bag does it all set up.
For architecture I add laowa 15mm shift, canon 24 shift, Pentax 45-85 with TS adapter in a small add on bag.
    GFX can’t be beat!!!
    Thanks for review.
For evening / in door parties I do add the GF 45mm.
Fuji has been making medium format cameras for decades and the gfx really reflects that.

Thanks Ken for your short and focused review on Fujifilm GFX Body, I came to know your channel not so long and trust me I love your thoughts and views on any photography specially on 50sii 💥👌. I did nt get the chance to shoot yet because just ordered 1 😮 with 63mm lens. N can’t wait to make a imaging process as we use to do with film as medium ❤. Coming from film photography BG then Nikon DSLR “+ old glass” it’s been couple of years struggling with medium format film processing issues etc if you’re living not in US.
Anyways Idk the reason why people complaining about speed and fast process time etc blah blah blahhhh. Seriously 😡 if someone comparing medium format photography so it’s all about creating/making image and enjoy the journey or processing it’s nothing to do with fast pace technology. On the other hands how many out their crafting/creating/enjoying the process not crazy about clicking 1000000 of the image and post online . “I feel sorry for them” off-course there’re group of people doing great job with technology and express the beauty of imaging process. Secondly thanks to Fujifilm who made my dreams come true in the form of GFX 50sii body. 👌🙏 you plz keep it up with your feedback on photography & equipment 😊🙏👍🥜. My body of work based on product, portraits and land-escape photography.
    Great job Ken 👍

I have a question, please, about the Fuji GFX System sensor. Is there any difference between the GFX 50mpx and the 100mpx sensor regarding the sensor's capacity in low light shooting? Noise, colour accuracy, or is it negligible? Which sensor (mpx) you will recommend for low light shooting conditions. Thank you!

we need this in full frame format. I almost made the switch to the 50S but problem is you can't have an ultra fast ULTRA wide lens on the system. it's none-existing. as a landscape photographer, equivalent to at LEAST 14mm on full frame is ESSENTIAL to my work. I've even had a long discussion over the phone with Fuji but they assured me that it's not going to be possible to build what I need. so definitely not for the ones who need a 2.8 or faster ultra wide lens. They still didn't answer one question: WHY THE HELL do they not make a full frame body with the same features???????????

@@kathodosdotcom I agree, to an extent. But to be clear, I'm not talking comparable to apsc or full frame units on offer in this era. But I saw some videos online, focus pulling on stationary objects taking 15-20 seconds. Another example where it could not lock on to the subject for a shot outside... seems like that would be annoying and like it should be addressed -- especially at the price point.

It’s totally usable in good light, I don’t really ever notice the AF until some action comes up (people running, kids playing, etc.)
