  • The Norris family, owners of Precision Engine Machine Co. in Hyattsville, MD, are no strangers to numerous engine builds. However, Michael Norris faced a fun, new challenge when a customer came to him looking for a numbers-matching 327 Corvette engine for a 1963 Split-Window Coupe.

Perfect Builders! I bought my first 427 big block Chevy engine from his father Jan in 1972. He always made sure I had everything to complete the build. He would call me on the phone and say drive out to the shop when you get it running. They are the perfect machinist!!!

They are a great shop! They won one of our Best Shop of the Year awards in 2020. Sorry to hear Jan passed.

That's cool 😎 I'm actually doing a full frame off restoration on my early 1963 Corvette build date September 28th 1962. So ya it's crazy getting it to NCRS judging. 😁

I believe the engine has the wrong exhaust manifolds. 327 300 hp had the larger (2.5 inch) exhaust collector.

Never seen anyone deck a block and save the numbers without restamping the block ?

1 important note made here. The block was hot tanked. Who in the hell does that anymore? People who want a motor to last does that. Modern spray cabinets do not clean all the crevices and galleys thoroughly. Impossible! Debris left in a block after leaning will destroy the engine. Hot tanking with a thorough spray rinse is the only way to go.
