- Why the MBUX infotainment system from Mercedes-Benz is a game-changer?
Mercedes describes MBUX as a revolutionary infotainment system, and by automotive standards, it is just that excellent with 4 reasons.
1: Intelligence of “Hey Mercedes”.
2: Freedom of Input.
3: Map display in Cockpit.
4: Augmented Reality Navigation.
First 3 are not that unique, while the AR Navigation is unique and first ever in the automobile industry, so far.
Anyone that’s watched an Apple keynote over the past few years has had to hear about augmented reality. It’s supposedly the future, and while using AR for games and pictures is all well and good, MBUX is the first time we’ve ever experienced augmented reality and said, “Wow, that’s really cool.”
MBUX’s optional AR system uses a front-facing camera in tandem with the navigation system. The camera switches on at low speeds (and when a destination is programmed into the navigation) and then displays street names and navigation directions over the video feed. This is a lifesaver in an unfamiliar city or on roads where the street signs are obscured - it gave us much more confidence before each turn.
One more thing: this camera can serve as a video recorder, save the video clip in the 320GB HDD in MBUX. *
But situation in Singapore is that almost nobody has the AR camera working. We, EleBest Pte Ltd, finally sorted out the solution to get AR Navigation working not only in PI cars, but also in Cars from local agent.
Driving a new model of Mercedes? But no such cutting edge AR Navigation?

I have the x118 with drivers package and distronic. The camera aperture ist closed with a dummy. Is it possible to retrofit easily? (like plug&play)

Is this a big/difficult retrofit? My local workshop that’s installing Distronic never tried this and say it might be quite expensive in parts and labour. I know your numbers won’t compare directly but would you say it’s a difficult retrofit and what’s time/parts and price involved? Thank you
No, it is a relatively easy retrofit to be frank, we do original retrofit for years, but this one is hassle free, straight away one. But for DIYers, better don't try.
EleBest Pte Ltd Thank you so much. It’s not a DIY workshop. They are Mb specialists for 15 years. And they did the Distronic perfectly. For some reason they just haven’t had a customer request this before. So partswise is it just the new camera and a new camera housing plus some cables and coding? No new windscreen or anything? I have the Premium Pack so the only camera already up there is for the tragic sign assist I think.
@@Flaksting Compared to W177 distronic retrofit, this AR Camera is relative hard. DTR in w177 can say super easy to retrofit.

Guys I'm assuming this was a mbux549 high anyone buying new we're getting fuked and need create class action you lose lot between 548 vs 549 NOT JUST AUGMENTED YOU LOSE VIDEO PLAYBACK OF ANY KIND AND NO FULL SCREEN NAVIGATION ON DRIVER SIDE EVEN IF YOUR SALES REP SHOWED YOU THAT
You are right.
Option 549 is MBUX High support quite a few features you mentioned.
