This Old West style clip point bowie with jigged bone handle belongs to me and I made this cowboy/frontier style leather sheath to go with it.
This sheath uses a Sam Browne stud and a 'frog' as was popular on this type of sheath. This allows the sheath to be hung from the belt or the frog can be removed so it can be slipped inside the belt or trousers on its own.
The sheath has a limited edition California state quater featuring John Muir inlaid into it as well as some vintage mockodile. I picked up the quarter on holiday in California in 2005 and I love Yosemite so it's a nice reminder of the park for me.

I have an old Texas knife. You have inspired me to make a sheath for it out of rattlesnake skin and turquoise! Thank you for a beautiful video and constant excellence in your work. It is something to aspire to.
Wow….. WOW that is a BEAUTIFUL sheath!
Just unbelievably brilliant. I'd love to spend a day with him just watching and asking a million questions!
That Bowie knife deserves a Texas quarter! Beautiful work.
Why a Texas one? Bowie knives are from Louisiana
But it sure looked the best
with the state that's furthest west!
P.S. i know its not technically the furthest west but it rhymes okay, plus im from California so im biased haha
@@kanekochera6595 welp.. and then their is that too lol good point

It's utterly mesmerising watching someone so skilled make something so beautiful.
Shit's dank, yo
thats beautiful work!
Impeccable work Ian,as always. Like the idea of using a coin as an inlay. Going to copy you on next job but going to set a military medal in it for an old Army mate. I really enjoying the leatherwork after all the grinding and sanding with making a new knife, nice not to have sore dirty hands!
Nicely done
Really great work.
Wow that was cool love the coin inland sheath
As always I love your work Ian.
AWESOME ... A true craftsman
Beautiful sheath :)
beautiful sheath.
wow that is awesome .Really nice work.
A masterpiece!
Excellent work. I was hoping the video would continue onto how you went about stitching the frog but it ended a little early!
WOWSA! That is awesome work. I use to work for a master saddler ( one of only 2 in Canada ) and did some extremely fine leather work on $5000 Jumping and Dressage saddles. I also repaired many saddles of all kinds. I want to start doing leather work at home as a hobby/ side business. I am very meticulous and hope to produce high quality work like you do some day. Liked and subscribed. You sir are a master. ;)
Beautiful pice of art well done sir

Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
amazing. It looks so simple, but i know that it is too hard to do with that quality. Keep doing videos, really enjoyed watching.
I loved it! Thank you so much. I've seen 2 different styles of video from you and I like both.
On some of your projects you walk through the entire process and that's awesome.
I also like these barebones demonstration videos because I can just watch the process and see what you do. I really appreciate that also.
Thanks again
+Greg Smith Agreed!
First off, brilliant craftsmanship my friend. You are amazing :) Simply, one of the best sheathes I've seen. I make knives, but I don't make sheathes. Just an FYI I'm a pure hobbyist...not a professional knife maker. I got a full time career lol! But I'm thinking about trying my hand at leathermaking just so I can make sheathes.
Thank you for your video: you're a master!
DAMMMM...THAT WAS GOOD IVE SEEN LOTS OF PEOPLE DO WHAT YOU JUST DID''''''YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING...THAT IS GREAT WORK''
Great job!!!
Great workmanship if you don't mind I like to use most of that I have a friend that has a knife made from an railroad spike a blacksmith friend made for him and he asked me to make a sheath for it. That design looks just right for it.

Amazing!!!
Brilliant!!!
HA! It's a small world...or internet - I'm one of your subscribers! This is indeed a beautiful piece of work
I "dabble" a bit with leather work. It is primitive and intriguing. Watching some of these leather experts is amazing. I will stick to wood. Sam
I dabble in far too much ... wood tuning, blacksmithing, and, in order to make sheaths for knives I forge, I think I need to invest in yet another craft. Cheers!! James
I have a friend in town who makes beautiful hunting knives and his leather sheaths are also amazing. I think making the sheath is an important part of the knife. But it all costs $$$$$$$ haha Sam
NICE work , very sturdy hands. Tuff luck on donation, I will have to save the money for some of those tools. Thanks for the post, great work.
O_O Beautiful. Very informational too,
very nice!!!!
!!!!!!!! VERY GOOD !!!!!!!!
Parabéns !!!!!
From Brasil !!!!
Beautiful, magnificent.......
Wow! What a great video! would have liked to see how you constructed the frog in much more detail. Not sure how you attached the belt loop, and wrap around piece. do you have any other videos that show detailed frog system construction?
