MAKING A LEATHER SHEATH | For A Forged Horseshoe Knife | Leather Craft
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 сен 2024
- In this leather craft video I create a custom sheath for a unique knife that has been forged from an old horseshoe. Made from 3.5mm thick natural vegetable tanned leather, the sheath is designed to be ambidextrous for right side or left side carry. Due to the narrow shape of the knife, I decided to make a mirrored welt which allows the knife to be placed inside the sheath in any direction. The front of the sheath features a heavily textured tooling pattern and is finished with an antiqued mahogany dye fade. The edges are hand stitched and reinforced at the corners with brass rivets. I hope you enjoy watching the making process of this interesting knife sheath project.

Hello from Ukraine, it turned out incredibly well 😀
Thank you very much!
Great video! Very nice sheath
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Awesome !
Thanks!
You're doing such nice work, but instead of using the awl you're drilling your holes and you're not sinking your seams.
Extraordinary, very good. I always look at it and save it. I would like to know where you buy such good tools. I was amazed by the punch, excellent tool. From the work itself, a wonder like all the ones he does. My congratulations. Here in Spain you can't get good tools, Tandy doesn't bring those things. Thank you so much.
Thank you. I buy most of my tools online.
@@KingdomGloryLeather tem como você deixar o link dessa loja pra mim comprar umas ferramentas?
Excelente 👍
Nice work.
Thanks!
Love the look! Hey, what sort of texture stamp is that? At first I thought it was a pebble pattern, but on closer inspection whatever you are using looks way cooler! Would love to know what brand/type of stamp that is!
Thank you. Not sure where I got it or what brand it is but the number on the stamp is Z-E294
Этот нож не достоин таких ножен!)))
رائع
Excellent....
What size is the drill bit and the thread?
Many thanks
Thank you. 1/16” bit & 0.8mm thread
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Did you forge a file or piece of carbon steel into it, making it a knife?
I actually didn’t make the knife itself, only the leather sheath. The knife is for a friend and I am not sure exactly how it was made. I only know that it was from a horseshoe.
Hello, beautiful work! Can you tell me where you get your rivets and the tools to set them? I have looked at several suppliers and have not seen the tool set you are using, Also, what size rivets are you using for 3 layers of leather? Sorry for all the questions? I am new to this. Thanks for the videos, they are great!
Thank you very much! You am using #14 brass rivets & burrs. You can find them and the setters on buckleguy.com website.
Thank you very much!
What stamp does that texture ? Very beautiful work.
Thank you. The number on the stamp is Z-E294
Is that one inch off the blade for stitch allowance?
The distance around the sides of the blade are for the welt.
What do you use for the nice glassy look?
RTC Sheridan Resist & Finish
@@KingdomGloryLeather thanks
Where do you purchase your leather working tools.
Weaverleathersupply.com
Would be a nice video without the nerve wrecking music
Can you tell me what the stamp was you used to fill the majority of the sheath. The geometric one? I make banjo straps and have lots of Barry king stamps. I mostly use a basket weave and one similar to yours to do the edge. I just want to be able to make them better
I don’t remember where I got it but the number on the stamp is Z-E294
@@KingdomGloryLeather thank you so much. Love your work
@@KingdomGloryLeather one last question. I have to make a mark down the center of my leather that I’m gonna stamp to keep me aligned….I use a wing divider to make a small “scratch” in the leather. This is hard to get out and I’d like to know if you know a way I can make a mark and easily remove it after I’m done stamping. Thanks for any help you can provide me.
I would just make as light of a line as possible. Something you would only notice once the project is complete.
hello can you specify the stamp numbers?
Z-E294, C770, PB013
@@KingdomGloryLeather Thank you so much love your work and motivates me to make something
Where can i get that pattern from.
Sorry I currently don’t have any patterns available.
You don't sell your work??
Mostly a hobby.
Would you be willing to replicate this design but for a KBar and sell it to me?
Sorry not at this time. I very much appreciate your interest.
@@KingdomGloryLeather oh man. That's too bad, thanks for the reply
