Alec Steele Blacksmith 2018 - Развлечения
Leather armour is best for sneaking, because it is made of hide.
God that hurt to read haha nice one
Thank you fur that information. Even if that pun makes me want to pelt you with tomatoes.
Spoken like a true Rogue. 💨
Clap ... Clap ... Clap
Get out
please make armour Alec
i think it would be soo cool and the leather working oportunity is sooo goood!
Quick tip: make sheath first, then sharpen the knife :)
Thank you Alec, 5 times a week I get to escape the mundane, so thank you!
Hey Alec, just watched an old video of yours, and I find it absolutely crazy how everything's changed! What struck me most though is how much happier you seem now. You make jokes and make us laugh and it's really really cool, but back then it felt different I don't know why xD just here to say it's great how happy and joy packed you are now, and I love your videos. Cheers.
A lot of variety in the channel lately. A lot of cool content. 909,000 subscribers. 1 million is coming up. That's great.
This makes sense. The leather background on the last video of the final knife was definite foreshadowing! Love your stuff brother
I was a little worried about the inflation of hyped content. You have done a lot of cool stuff lately always puching on notch after notch higher, but I have to say that this video made me realize that it doesn't matter if the prodjects are cool enough, you are an awesome maker and just watching you learn and push your own limits further and further each day in the crafts, facinating by the knowledge and wisdom gained, inspires me as a fellow maker to make stuff and get better. To enjoy the craft and show people what I am capable of creating. Just like you. Keep at it! Great content!
I greatly appreciate a man who goes outside of his comfort zone and does things fearlessly. The need for sheaths to finish off your work has been something which your blades have cried out for. I love to see you attempt this stuff. Kudos!
Almost a year ago, I used your code on Audible, and there hasn't been a commute without an audiobook since. I really appreciate Alec for bringing it to my attention. For those of you who haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend getting your free Audio book from Audible and get addicted as I have.
It’s so funny I start to watch French Guy Cooking and then he starts to collaborate with Alec Steele.
How do you know its the French Guy? I love his stuff, and he recently put up a blacksmithing video and was thinking about this.
garfieldclass10 I saw a post on Alec’s Instagram
Water! The leather should be worked damp. It will help the dye soak in more evenly too. I found 'Armitage Leather' helpful. His saddle stitch video should really help. Did you pick up that tool from Tandy Leather at Maker's Central perchance?
Ian Lynch I second the damp leather for more even dyeing. I believe he actually learnt that from bentley leather craft ;) Yes I have watched every single video very very attentively 😂
There are two things I really like about this channel. One is the commitment to workmanship that Alec displays. The other is comments from other people that know their craft. A rare thing on RUclips these days.
I dabble in leather work, using the basket weave tool is the hardest to learn.
A moment of inattention and the project is truly ruined.
Every time you move the tool you have to check, spacing, angle, direction, orientation, and then make the same hammer strike so each tool mark follows the last, and sets up the next mark.
Great work.
Looking forward to seeing the final results.
BTW: when you stitch up the belt loop on this sheath make sure to leave enough room so the knife can be shifted foreword or backwards on the belt for comfort.
Some of the best content on the Tube! TY
Notification squad!
Big fan of your vids and what you do, Alec! Keep up the great work!
I love how you go back and use the tools you have previously made for other projects and keep building on your skills. Huge fan.
I don't think I've ever been that happy to watch an add, just because it's Alec
Alec, let me tell you something... I love you so much :D
Not only you know your way around forging, casting, but also you recently started with leather... And now you are able to create outstanding tools from literally raw materials. Keep it up, I am sure you will inspire thousands into making stuff.
Burnish it, burnish it, burnish it Alec!! Just like all the people shouting flux it, flux it, flux it Alec!! 😂😂😂
Yes I was waiting for you to do one of these
When he says “thing-a-ma-whatsit” I hear, thing Emma Watson
I too
I came to this one late because I thought that I liked watching Alex make knives & swords, not 'other stuff. Turns out I was wrong. Discovered I like watching & listening to Alex whatever he is up to. Always learning. Thanks, Alec.
Great video!
You're a breath of fresh air for the old farts out here. You're very entertaining and informative. Wish you all the luck in your endeavors. That is one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen.
Nice job bro!!!
I really like the music style in the time lapse. Anyone got a spotify station that plays stuff similar?
Bobby Bates that "hold me tight" song... Love it. Can't find it.
ruclips.net/video/TqN34NR5b38/видео.html
HOLY SHEATH
dont forget to burnish your edges alec. it makes all the difference in the finished product
Watching you grow from 100k subs to almost 1 million has been incredible, sir. I dream that one day our paths will cross because I would love to shake your hand.
I love all of your vids Alec. Just seeing you heat up metal and make whatever you want is amazing. You're like the Bob Ross of blacksmithing.
Let me suggest a series to listen to while you work. Last I checked it was on audible. Stephen Kings dark tower series.
Still pounding out quality content day after day. I know some people don’t like using leather for sheaths, but I really like the look of leather.
Alec I’m 12 and have been watching for three years but now I have finally got my own forge and you inspired me
Hi Alec. Just remember to burnish the edge of parts that after you stiching will not reacheble
Thats already looking way better then the sheaths I made😂🤔😐
Just wanna say that I'm usually just a lurker... I don't even usually remember to like videos, but I always look forward to the notification every day!! Keep up the beautiful work, Alec!
Looking great Alec. Just a heads up, if you haven't seen it, it's a good idea to punch out a hole at the end of any knife slits (for mabey button holes or belt loops.... not your belt loop design, don't worry) to stop the cut tearing and give the button a bit more wiggle room.
FANTASTIC
why did i know this was coming??? love the videos man!!
It happened...
By the way Alec you're #1 of all blacksmiths I know. keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for always pushing forward to learn more about the processes involved in making things! You are indeed an inspiration to myself and others who want to appreciate craftsmanship and strive to attain it ourselves. After watching your videos for the last couple of years, it's pushed me to get back in my own workspace and learn! Thank you Alec, for always growing your skill set and making the rest of us look bad!
Sweet! This is awesome!
Am I the only one who thinks it looks already amazing?
omg, the water in the music around 3:00 has already made me run to the loo twice!!! XD
Have you considered doing a TED talk?
"Im just gonna go ahead, and poke a hole in it." Haha!
Alec, you have to be the only guy on the planet doing leather work with a Damascus kiridashi he made himself!
I love seeing you use that damascus steel tool you made for the katana(?) handle build. Such a beautiful tool and seeing it around your episodes brings a smile to me :D
YESSS!!!
You're the Bob Ross of blacksmithing / craft work.
Your comment at 7:21... Welcome to leather working!! It does not matter how long you have been working leather it is always thought provoking and nerve racking when you are doing something new or working a new design. I have been working with leather for around 7 or 8 years now and I still get that feeling anytime I start on a new design
Coming along nicely! 👍👊
I have also been making a sheath and a collar (for my axe that I restored) and you’re correct sir.. it is indeed terrifying hahaha. Like heading into uncharted waters with a blindfold on, but it turned out great! The more I work with the leather, the more I learn and the better things turn out. Looks great man!
I've been tinkering with knife making, I've made two different sizes of viking broke back seax knives. I'm in the market for a ferriers rasp to make a Bowie knife. This video gives me great insight into how to do the sheath. Thanks for the run down 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Nothing better to watch while I work on polishing a kiridashi of my own.
As a Texan I except this Bowie. Since we did pass a law to open carry them. Then on behalf of England, I'll use this to win the next season of Knife Fight. Bringing Alec to the forfront of bladesmithing. Who's with me?
My son and I enjoy the daily uploads. What u do is pretty cool thanks for giving us something to do together
Dude you r my inspiration to continue going on, showing your failures and how you learn with it and continue trying till you reach a great piece of art, it shows me it's normal to fail and i need to learn with my fails and not repeat them. Thanks and continue making thor awesome job and inspiring people.
Alec,
Your previous leather videos inspired me to give leatherworking a shot myself. It's a lot easier to start that Blacksmithing, or I would do that as well. =) just finished my first wallet a couple days ago. Thanks for your videos!
Alec, you’ve done it! It’s a masterpiece. A congrats from a brazillian fan!
that was awl you needed!
I enjoy watching the leatherwork as much as the blacksmithing. Good job
Hello Alec from Portugal, can you tell me what do you use to blackned the button, and if it works on brass? Thank you, love your work, cheers
www.amazon.com/Blu-BLUING-SOLUTION-GUNSMITH-BLACKEN/dp/B07BC9C7YN
Cumprimentos
Okay, seriously what is that song around 2-5.5 min?
Don't turn off the lights, Niklas Ahlström. There y'all go
Thank you.
I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH
farmerboy916 thank you
Seriously - Thank you! been hunting for this for days!
What kind of wireless headphones does he have?
Where do I buy studs for you
Lots of fun. I agree that it's fun when you have no idea what you're doing! That's when I find I get the chance to piece through it in my head and figure out how things work and how I can do it! Great video, Alec!
Yes more leatherworking!!
Love your old/preprevious style of music and editing! much more enjoyable then the current one from america ...
Alec, what is the fluid that you use for sharpening ?
Alec! Don’t forget to burnish the edges!! Much love man, I really enjoy all of your videos!
Alec heres a suggestion for the dies to use with stamps. I recommend you use hi-lite dye from tandy leather as a secondary dye layer for stamped or engraved veg leather. You'll get a much better "patina" effect on those engravings if you use it right. The deep areas will be darker while the high areas will stay pale. Tou can then use a sealer or beeswax and a heat gun to seal it and give it a nice shine. It's especially effective on woven patterns like the one you have here or swivel knife engraving if you want to get into it. I think it's worth it if you want to bring those sheathes to a whole other level!! Anyway amazing job on that knife! I started with leatherworking but Thanks to you I'm now an amateur blacksmith and knifemaker! Your work is extremely inspirational and I cannot wait to see where it gets you. Hopefully someday I'll be able to visit you, share my experience and perhaps learn from one of the best. I do hope you read this comment, your videos have been lifechanging for me when I needed it most. Keep on enjoying and sharing the process and keep making us use that elbow grease!
Cheers from Montreal
This is a great escape from revision! Thanks for letting me procrastinate!
The top of the sheath should be wavy to match the guard, Alec! That would be cool as heck!
Hey from Canada ! Great videos man
Awesome! Love watching this on the channel. Something different! Your so close to 1 million subs, can’t wait for you to reach that, I wish you all the success in the world, 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Now that's a NOIF!
What is the song that is playing when you're testing the pattern around your mark?
I found your wonderful channel a few days ago, and I have watching a lot of your content, your channel is amazing, and is inspiring me to try and become a blacksmith myself. You're awesome.
I dont do any forge work myself but i love the channel and the work you do. Keep it up!!!
Love your work. Always striving for the best. Keep it up.
Seven
alec you are the living legend
Hi Alec !!
It sounds like the sheath will be really cool when it is finished .You are spot on about always pushing the envelope and trying scary new things .At the start we may think ,omg why did I start this bus ultimately we will thrive and relish the experience.............Keep rockin' mate !!
Chris .
Well that guy in the comment section from the finished Bowie Knife episode got his wish... Looking forward to this one Alec!
I was hoping you were going to get sheet for this blade!!! So excited to watch!
Alec: "So, speaking of buttons. We better make ours!"
Me: "You're gonna make your own button!?!?"
I forgot who I was watching there for a second...
What’s the song at 6:47?
what was the name of the red covered book that you recommended some time ago. Thank you
Sovereignty by Ryan michler!
This is just beautiful mate. I love your thought process and everything that goes behind you making a project come to life. keep making this great content!
YES you are making a sheath I am so happy, you have put a smile on my face
OOC, any idea what would happen if Alec used his touchmark instead of drilling when making raindrop damascus? I wonder if the S-shape would be recognizable as the "drops."
can someone tell me the name of the first song please (@ 1:40)
I love the way you learn, like me, diving into uncharted waters!
Alec your the best! nice sheath
Using this to teach me how to make a sheath for a bowie knife bc im making on for my dad’s knife that never had a sheath. It was a gift from his uncle, and i wanna do a challenging craft while making something for him.
Alec I’m a big fan of your work, keep up the great work
where do you buy your leather???
sur quelle site trouve tu ton cuir ?
