I am a pom and i got into both games at roughly the same time so i love both. This year in my view the AFL final was better purely because it was one score in it until the last 40 seconds. i've been to the game and it was the worse experience I've ever had in sports. Constant whistles, constant kicks and constant catches, constant goals through some sticks. Really overrated sport ngl
The NRL simply doesn’t compete with the AFL. Watch both grand finals from the weekend and let me know the difference between the 2 games in terms of the atmosphere... Rugby league is a world wide sport, with leagues in most countries, afl is fairly restricted to Australia, with the majority of this world not giving a fucking shit about it. Rugby league is only popular in two states of Australia, but in those two states, afl does not compete.

I would agree except the NRL grand final has always been played on a Sunday. And usually it is played a week after the AFL grand final. 2011 & 2012 are the only times i have ever seen them play a grand final on the same weekend and that's only because AFL had extended their season a few more games.
