I do agree. I would have liked if the sports were all available from the beginning. I can't imagine it's a case that they've been working on basketball for this length of time. The development work was done. It just feels like artificially extending the life of the game...
I love when the big cool sport they added is also when that has already existed two consoles ago. Why would they keep adding sports if the rotating item schedule is over, literally what is the point
I’d be neat if they made a new boxart to include the Basketball icon. This game did its job for me frankly, of being a motion-controlled podcast game. Simple challenges, easy gameplay, good enough rewards and in the case of Golf, Soccer and Obstacle Bowling, I’d say they were well done representing the sport. It was a 7/10 $40 game and it didn’t need to be much more for a series reboot that’s heavily relying on online gameplay imo.
No. Basketball, in my opinion, won't save the game on it's own. However, if we continue to get more unique sports added, I could see this being the biggest comeback in gaming history.
@Crafty_boy70 for the sequel to be successful, though, the game should set their focus on what made the previous Wii Sports games charming and immersive and expand on that. I do feel like Sportsmates would be better suited in their own Sports series rather than the Wii Sports legacy, though.
@@julienherard414 Bro the game is a massive success and is almost costantly in the best selling games on the Eshop almost every month. It's not dead at all lol
@@julienherard414 I think Switch Sports had the right idea with its aesthetic, but the problem was the sportsmates were underbaked. Ideally, having more 3 dimensional face options would just have been an added feature for miis, though it may have been harder to implement, which may be the reason for the sportsmates independence. I also think customization was too limited, hence why they fundamentally fail to capture the essence of miis.
I mean, I doubt it, but NSS will be relevant for maybe another month. The 2v2 format is more interesting, though, like "we have NBA Jam at home". EDIT: riceballs
i personally think a new "sports" type game would be great imagine we get a "nintendo switch sports ressort" with live service online mp and all ALL sports typs from back then at the og "wii sports" to "wii sports resort" and the current sport types i would pay 60 bucks for that (specially for the sword-fight singleplayer mode on wii sportsresort)
I feel like they originally wanted switch sports to release complete, but then some higher up perhaps thought a wii sports type game on it’s own wouldn’t work in the modern day or whatever so they haphazardly frankensteined it into this. That’s just my theory based on how inconsistently they have been updating this game.
No. They should have implemented a fleshed out version of table tennis and frisbee golf. And the ability to partake in or assemble your own tournaments. It’s really simple, Nintendo😡
Yeah at this point it’s too late. A new sport 2 years after the game launched and 1 year since the last content update won’t save it from its quality and reception. It’s like a zombie rising from the grave after a year of rotting and it barely being able to do anything or something
I do think Ninteno Switch Sports resort wills save the Mii Franchise Nintendo Switch Sports was a good start, so Nintendo switch sports resort will be a bigger step up than before
It's still in the top 10 best selling games every week per Famitsu...so does it really need saving? This may give it a small boost in sales, but I dont think new people buying this game care if its updated or not (see: Animal Crossing still in the top 5 almost every week for 4+ years now). It really goes to show the internet is out of touch with WHY Wii Sports became such a phenomenon with casual consumers. Most devs would kill for a fraction of this success with a game that probably had the budget of a ham sandwich.
I understand where you're coming from regarding how sparsely they update it, but that's just Nintendo. You pay for the game and you get what you pay for, for better and worse. They don't believe in live service particularly and you have to remember that, until Splatoon came out, they'd completely ignored online multiplayer and shooting mechanics entirely lol. It's insane. They don't really operate by the rules of the industry basically, they're a 200 year old toy company instead of a digital entertainment group and it really shows these days. I also think it's worth remembering Sports is a minigame comp about....sport, so there's not much you can update it with vs other minigame comps like Mario Party, although I think that argument is a bit weaker because they could def have added some other modes or even just courses/venues to the existing games. But then, the simplicity is the point really - it's for children and their parents more than 'gamers'.
Save? It’s always in the top 25 sellers on the eshop, sold over 13 mil copie n match making is still pretty good. I like the game for what it is, alotta ppl seem to hate it for what it’s not but Nintendo did say it’s alot more challenging making the sports for switch vs Wii because the motion tech is different, same reason house of dead remake is weird to control
Switch Sports got a longer update lifespan than Animal Crossing 😭
That’s… not true.
As it should

I wish they would just make the Wuhu Island switch sports free roam game like COME ON IT"S RIGHT THEREEEEE
Maybe on Switch 2/Nintendo Switch Flip. Sighhhhhh
I just want the training mode from Wii sports to make a reappearance. That was half of the fun of the original
Literally this game needs trading modes
They need to add baseball as well.
And boxing, and all the resort sports.
@@UriahStuff agreed
so trueee
It took real basketball like 200 years to fully develop we should be GRATEFUL
It's the fact that both golf AND basketball could already be played on the Wii over a decade and a half ago

if i can rely on voyan for one thing its consistent switch sports content
Cant believe they cared more about switch sports than splatoon in the direct
what’s funny is that this was DATAMINED along with dodgeball
Dodgeball? Very interesting. Add hockey and we get all four sports from Mario Sports Mix
I love when the big cool sport they added is also when that has already existed two consoles ago. Why would they keep adding sports if the rotating item schedule is over, literally what is the point
It has no life to it. Nothing will save it.
Yes it does, quit being mad because a game isn’t a 1 to 1 recreation of wii sports

3:15 jelly-filled doughnuts!

no because the game is garbage and adding one thing that was in resort won’t fix the mess the game is lol
If they add baseball, boxing and a random sport like dodging it would be the perfect game although right now it's going pretty well
I hope so so I can never see the Pic of myamoto staring into my soul ever agin
I don't know why Nintendo thought this was worth a spot on the Direct when Switch Sports feels like a dead game by this point.
The game has lobbies still filling up and it sold pretty high so those are my guesses.

the only sport that can save switch sports is baseball
Boxing, archery💯
Maybe, but s00ner later are less playing
Im gonna pick this up now, so it worked for me...
I’m still wondering where the hell baseball is
i think this is the last sport, for good this time. theres no space on the menu for an extra sport
They can expand the menu
Someone in the comment section said that there’s a datamine stating that dodgeball would be added as well.
People really payed for that? I mean, Wii Sports "sold" like crazy because it was free.
No, it wasn't free; It was a pack-in game that also had individual copies sold.
DOA.
Move on to resort, same game as the og but in
hd and add a couple of new activities guarantee to sell 33 mill+
