There’s a reason why people in the emergency service have pets. My dad is a firefighter, he has his most stupid dog. She’s such a good dog. She is a bull terrier.
Patients, prisoners and the elderly in care homes benefit a lot by having cats around. I´m surprised it´s not more often done in those establishments unless there are allergies of course.

@@SemekiIzuio Yeah but for those people they have the mental acuity to simply ignore it. An office pet isn't such a distraction considering the benefits for those that could be helped by it.

People probably don't realize how extremely beneficial this cat is for these guys. Firefighter suicide rates are much higher than the average and the job takes an extreme mental and physical toll. They see a lot of death at times and a lot of times that includes children. Not to mention the physical injuries. The therapeutic value of this will probably save lives at this station.
Same for paramedics. Give the emergency workers cute animals, give the animals homes. It’s a win-win.

PTSD from what? It’s not the 60s where they were fighting fires in dangerous slums that could collapse any second every night. Only 48 died in 2019 and that was from wild fires and abandoned buildings in maryland.
Doesn’t mean no one’s ever died from a fire on their watch. What’s more is firefighters are often first responders to many types of situations. Paramedic situations, kids choking, car wrecks, etc. they have no doubt seen and dealt with many traumatic situations.
@@RobloxFoxStudios animals can do so much for us mentally and emotionally, and that in turn affects us physically. Firefighters definitely need a dog at least. Probably why most Cops are bastards... they don't have animal companions...

I’m sure Flame has helped prevent a lot of nervous breakdowns. After such a long, stressful shift as a firefighter, I’m sure the company of a cat would be quite soothing. Cats make wonderful therapy animals.
I love how everyone says “more like a dog” when the cat is acting exactly like a cat. All of my cats are chill, affectionate mama’s cats. I think more “dog” people need to give cats a fair shot. Bc they are just as (if not more) loving, affectionate and sweet as dogs!!
Yup, the only thing anormal about him is enjoying baths and not caring about loud noises but he's very much a cat, a very confident and affectionate cat
I have 3 cats that differ in personality. Sunny is as shy as possible Phillip will attach himself to your hip Ava treats you as a toy and a servant at the same time and will sleep on you
it's entirely dependent on the cat. what people need to realize is that cats have very big personalities. you can't really control how they grow up. some strays can be the absolute sweetest things, while others will immediately run away or get angry. it's entirely up to the cat.
That is something wrong. Everyone is a cat person, cats in many ways are more therapeutic than dogs as they give unconditional love and can also look after themselves. Dogs, well they only encourage you to exercise more as they can't look after themselves in the same way.
TRAKARU ALVAREZ also cats domesticated themselves and dogs did not...we basically created dogs lol. if we never made dogs into what they are today then they wouldn’t exist and want little to do with us....

True... Why people always assume cat as an evil pet? They just treat it the wrong way. Once you show them affection in the right way, they will never left you. My cat always follow me even wait for me when I used toilet. They're really really depending on you and show love. I hate when people comparing dog and cat. Both animals has character just like human, the stereotypes about them most are wrong.
@@TheKaniamania I wish I understood where that misconception came from. I think it might have to do with people not understanding the difference between a feral cat and a pet cat, or not realizing cats and dogs "speak different languages". Most of a dogs happy and playful body language translates to "oh you wanna fight" for a cat. Thats why it can take a bit for a cat to bond and accept a dog or new people into its colony. But, once it does they are extremely loyal, loving, and protective.
Flame must have watched life at the fire station for a while and thought "that's the life for me" and decided to make approaches. What a fantastic cat and what a fantastic life he now leads. Well done Flame. We've had a few unwanted cats come to join us to varying degrees (according to their needs) in our much more mundane lives. Cats that nobody else wants, we are quite a community now. All different characters but love and care for them equally.
That's exactly what our vet says. He's a cat fanatic and hates it when people say they dislike cats, because the usually haven't spent any time with a cat.
Im not a cat guy either. Only one cat i ever loved and he was a stray that would visit often. Called him Hei and one day he just never showed up again :(
Firefighters have a cat named flame that likes to takes baths. I don’t know if that’s ironic or what but fitting is all I can say. Flame aka fire gets put in water by the firefighters who’s job it is to put out fire. I love it.

What great positive vibes!! Wish more stations had animals for the guys,it's mentally and emotionally beneficial!! 💕🐈😺
yea it would be nice but like they even said in the video, this is definitely not the ideal environment for any cat or dog. they just happened to get lucky that this particular cat didnt mind the ruckus and chaos
@@gausly Yes,that's somewhat true as it can be a very loud environment 🔊 🚒 for most animals liking I'm sure, but usually if they have the animal from a puppy or kitten, then they (the animal) usually becomes used to it 99% of the time thankfully, especially if it's all they know, and it also can have a lot to do with the breed of cat or dog and their temperament, but sometimes crazy things happen, and certain animals you would never think would be ok with all the Hussle and brussel, are totally in their element and love where they are. But the station my dad worked for had 2 resident "house dogs",and they were Dalmatians of course!! Very pretty dogs!! (This was in the 1980's tho!) But anyway, they both lived (and worked) at the station their entire lives, and went on the truck with the guys and on calls,so it was really cool growing up and hearing stories about them and seeing pictures of them all up around the firehouse. Sadly but never the less, they obviously have passed away decades ago😢, but they have a beautiful little cemetery on the stations property where they are both buried and they have beautiful headstones🪦💐 for each doggie, with their pictures, names, and birth and passing dates etched into the stones (I wish I could remember their names, but I have forgotten them after all these years unfortunately) but they were clearly very special to the previous resident firefighters who had them, raised them, worked with them and of course loved them!! ❤️❤️
''first, we were nervous about the chief finding out'' my guy, i get what you mean. I work in a factory and we had this stray black cat that kept wandering in trough the gates and everyone dotes on it, so we were worried that our boss would find out and like, idk, get rid of it somehow. However, one rainy day we caught him, with a towel, trying to help the cat get dry. The sigh of relief from all the workers could be heard even trough all the noise of the machinery. (the cat doesn't approach the machinery just people that package the material, which is a process done by hand, so no worries about the cat getting hurt).
I love how cats can just own any place they want. It could be a house, a bus station, or a firehouse. Once the cat decides "this place is mine now" that's that, no more debate.
They are such powerful little manipulative creatures. It's like they think "hmm... i need food... oh look, humans! they'll have food! Now all I need to do is sit here and stare at them until they give in. then i can come here for food everyday" XD
Back in the day when I was a volunteer firefighter I use to get home after calls and my Cats were waiting at the door for my return with purrrrs, mrrpps, meows, cat assing, and lots of love. They took the edge off the horrors and heartbreak that I went through and kept me sane. There is something about these creatures that soothes the soul and helps heal a heart that is broken.

People who say they don't like cats are actually afraid of them. Every person I've ever met who didn't like cats, when I questioned them about it, it always came out that they had a fear of them.
Guy: TF IS THERE A CAT INSTEAD OF A RELIABLE ANIMAL, LIKE A DOG?! Firefighter: Sir, this is our emotional support cat Guy: Nevermind, he's hella cute, continue.
@@hunniibunz2928 I have to disagree, dogs know unconditional love very well. As do many other animals breeds. I have had dogs, cats, cows, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, bunnies, and birds. Surprisingly Cows, goats, pigs, and chickens, are very loving and friendly animals. You havent lived until you have had a chicken jump into your lap for pet pets, or been knocked to the ground by a cow who just wants her ears scratched by her favorite human.
I doubt they use tax money. The chief or department financial advisor would question the extra expense. I bet either a vet in their community provides the care free of charge because of their generosity would be recognized (A.K.A free advertisement) or the fire fighters split the cost. Which is very inexpensive, if you know the right DVM or animal shelter. All pet owners please sit down for this one. What I’m about to say, may blow your mind… A Rabies vaccine only cost a DVM $2.50 per vial. but the DVM must administer the vaccine themselves or supervise a vet tech administering a Rabies vaccine. Your DVM or shelter only pays $5.00 for each FVRCP vaccine. The DVM or shelter only pays $1.00 per ML (cats at most will need 2ML) for an oral deworming and topical flea treatments. The price for the parasite treatments varies, due to the animal’s weight. Anyone can administer the FVRCP and preventative treatments without supervision. Collectively, I think the initial cost for Flame’s medical expenses, would cost a DVM less than $10.00. The Rabies vaccine will need to be follow up in a year’s time from the original Rabies vaccine, but after that 1 year follow up, the Rabies vaccine will only need to be booster every 3 years. The FVRCP only needs to be administered once a year If a cat is older than 7 months old. If the animal is younger than 7 months, then it most likely goes through a series of up to 4 FVRCP vaccines. The parasite preventative treatments will most likely need to be done every 1-3 months. FYI I work in animal welfare. Does it show? LOL
@@christygib Alternatively, they might use tax money for it. Firefighting is an extremely stressful and dangerous job, and having pets has been shown to reduce stress and improve morale, which would reduce healthcare costs and firefighter turnover. The investment in a pet might actually save taxpayers a lot of money down the road.
@@TomLuTon well growing up you always see you know dalmatians being the classic one we see on things but i've seen plenty of places that just take in whatever breed of dog taking in other animal types should be fine also. they are great for community outreach programs and like others have said help reduce stress and improve moral. so in truth a firestation having a pet does have a long history at least as far as most americans are concerned.
yeah everyone thinks good tempered cars are dogs, its so stupid cats have personalities too, and some dogs are crazy and bite alot, people call them cats like why
My cat of 13 years who recently passed, was the best therapy i could've asked for. Helped me through a lot of tough times when i felt lonely. Pets are a blessing and we should be lucky to have them in our lives.
A friend of mine can't take a shower or a bath without her cat getting in, Marja (the cat) just loves water. Every cat I know will stay inside while it rains, not so Marja. My friend likes to joke that Marja was meant to be either a duck or a fish but was accidentally reincarnated as a cat.
Some are ok with baths, stoic, put up with it....others...hooooboy! break out the heavy leather gloves and gauntlets! I worked at a large boarding kennel/ groomingshop/ vet hospital when I was in high school, hundreds of cat baths.
I have a feeling one of my cats wants to get into my shower with me, Like she almost always follows me into the bathroom and even peaks, she almost jumped in but didn't.
FireWolfu My cat gets separation anxiety, so he jumps in the shower with me all the time. He’s one of the few, like Flame, that loves water. He absolutely hates being towel dried, though, so I try to limit the number of showers he takes.
Its true, cats choose you, you don't choose them. My best cat/best friend was a cat that had been mistreated. No one could get near her, but she saw me from the 2nd floor of her "bad" home and was sleeping next to me in my bed 4 days later. MyShundoree was her name, she was a purebred Bengal and shundor means beauty in Bengali. If you add a double "e" to a Bengali word it makes it diminutive so... My LIttle Beauty. She was with me for 20 years, sleeping with me, loving me and saving me from a depression that nearly took my life. I will never forget her but also never forget that it was she who chose me to befriend.
Same my family were just looking in a pet shelter when a cat put his paw out his cage and grabbed onto my dads belt. We've had him for 8 years now and still only lies with me and my dad
My cat saves me everyday. I also have crippling depression but every time I look at my cat and she meows at me with her sweet voice, it makes staying alive worth all the pain.
Same deal with my cat MInnie. I was 8 years old when she just showed up one day as thin as fish-bones and was like "Okay I like you human. I'll stay with you." and followed me home. Hid her from mom form a couple of days since I never expected for mom to cave in on day 1. Well long story short those were some crazy 15 years we spent together. This video just brought up such good memories... What a crazy and yet smart cat she was.
Omg I did the same found a cat in our buildings elevator lost and no one claimed her Julianna i I gave her that name 20 years she has been with us hid her from mom and mom caved in same day she was like we cannot let her to the streets she needs a home and we are her home loved and will always love Julianna she has a special place in my heart
It's amazing that Flame lets himself be bathed! He is SO relaxed in the water. It's so cute that he comes out of the bath *1:52* when the guy says "Flame! Come on out, boy." Just like a dog - but DON'T tell Flame that!! :-D
From my experience, workplaces that have had at least one dog or cat around made the employees generally happier. Animals bring a sense of grounding and nurturing that's extremely helpful in a high-stress environment. Every office, fire station, etc should have one 😊
Absolutely. Although, we had an office party once in a place I used to work at, and one of the other employees brought a dog. A sweet boy, thought nothing of it, until monday arrived and the boss called us all to his office. Someone had left his chair sticky and covered in something, and he wanted to know who it was. I had a date with me that night who I took on a tour around the office, and we were both pretty drunk, so needless to say, I got a little anxious for a second, trying to scan my brain for any memories from the night, but somebody realized it must've been the dog and we all got a good laugh out of it, including the boss. Whether the dog took a fall for me or was the actual culprit, I'll leave up to speculation. Regardless, he was a good boy.
Sadly the issue with this is that allergies are common and can be really rough. For me, my punishment for petting a cat for a few minutes will be 2-3h of my eyes and nose trying to murder me. Now that being said I'd love being in an office that has a cat (or other pet), I'd still personally find it worth it :D
@@Naerlyn Oh, same here. I'm majorly allergic (not deathly... but severe coughing, itchy eyes, and congestion). They run a very stressful job and the one day fate just said “yknow? Imma gonna give these hard working firemen a cat to take care of and help them distress and relax while on the job. Dusty Grave if..if that's what you wanna think...even though they mentioned there's stray cats around all the time and not all cats have the same reclusive personalities lmao,,,
it's specially nice when you consider how great cats specifically are for stress relief. my anxiety tends to go away when i put my baby on my lap and she starts purring
Lesson here: More stressful workplaces need in house cats to serve as de-stressers. Cheap and effective. Cats cost practically nothing, easily lovable.
Practically nothing? Lol, sure :P Say that when the medical bills start bunching up on you.. Once the cat get's older you will at some point start to realize just how much it CAN costa ya.. Last year alone was over 1000$ in just medical stuff for my mothers cat. Even when i was still living there the cat would consistently rack up hundreds of dollars worth of medical bills a year. And that's without mentioning food/toys/scratching posts :P If you're lucky and your cat barely ever has any health problems it's cheaper yes, but once it's starting to get old you can't avoid it :P It might be cheaper than a dog, i don't know as i've never had one, but "practically nothing" is just sooo wrong.
This is great, petting cats and such releases oxytocin which is basically a happy chemical to the brain. These guys probably see some horrible stuff and deal with tough situations, something like the cat coming up after a long terrible shift might be what keeps them from having a meltdown.
So true. We need more pets in stressful working places like this. Also in retirement homes. These animals are a blessing to those who suffer or work constantly under pressure.
My older brother is a fireman and there’s a firedog that hangs at the station, he was in horrible shape but in the end he came out fine, a saint bernard with 3 legs named Riley.
Yeah, that's how I got my flop child. There were two kittens available for adoption at the SPCA. The first one bit me so I put him back. I then picked up my flop child, she proceeded to climb into the hood of my jacket and wouldn't let go.

Pretty much every emergency responder jobs, those people just have a huge mental strenght to even have those as careers.

LoL, cat-related, yeah......he loved me very much though, maybe because he married old and I'm his only child. He hold a grudge to cats since childhood, back when he lived in a very poor condition in the 50s. I'm talking about the poorest poor...9 kids in 2 room shanty with dirt floor, in a poor village in the middle of nowhere in Indonesia. His mom got this fish to eat (it was the fancy food for them). Being the only one who went to school, he was the last person to lunch. His mom put the rice and fish on a plate on the floor, and told him to change clothes and wash his hands. He washed them in the river (no toilet) while drooling, imagining about the delicious fish. And when he got back...it was already on the dirt floor, getting eaten by a stray cat. 😭 That's how his deep hatred to cats rooted he said...😅

I have a dog like cat and a cat like dog. They are all different.
True... Why people always assume cat as an evil pet? They just treat it the wrong way. Once you show them affection in the right way, they will never left you. Both animals has character just like human, the stereotypes about them most are wrong.
@@TheKaniamania I wish I understood where that misconception came from. I think it might have to do with people not understanding the difference between a feral cat and a pet cat, or not realizing cats and dogs "speak different languages". I mean if the cat or dog are there since there a baby then they will grow up used to the noises

If this is where were my taxes were going I would be good with it
I doubt they use tax money.

I will never forget her but also never forget that it was she who chose me to befriend.
this cat just decided one day he is going to become a firefighter in his own way.
Did you get married?

You are your Mom's brand ambasssdor, hence am not surprised that she took the kitty in. Same compassionate gege pool.
May GOD ever Bless you both.
Are you sure the kitty didn't go " I found my eternal slave"?👀 Lol
Omg I did the same found a cat in our buildings elevator lost and no one claimed her Julianna i I gave her that name 20 years she has been with us hid her from mom and mom caved in same day she was like we cannot let her to the streets she needs a home and we are her home loved and will always love Julianna she has a special place in my heart
I also have a cat named Minnie too
Bro I took in a baby kitten and 4 years later there are 6 cats in the house, help!
It's amazing that Flame lets himself be bathed! He is SO relaxed in the water. It's so cute that he comes out of the bath *1:52* when the guy says "Flame! Come on out, boy." Just like a dog - but DON'T tell Flame that!! :-D
Plot twist: Flame runs the fire department and allowed the stray humans to stay
From my experience, workplaces that have had at least one dog or cat around made the employees generally happier. Animals bring a sense of grounding and nurturing that's extremely helpful in a high-stress environment. Every office, fire station, etc should have one 😊
The office I work at has a mini pig that we take care of.
And yet, I live with 4 cats and 2 dogs because my mom couldn't stop rescuing animals lol. Thankfully, I stay in our pool house which is a good distance from all the fur and dander. Call me crazy but I find it worth it too 😬
@@Peksisarvinen Ha! It'll always be the great office mystery 👀
Most cats don't act like most cats. 😂👌
No truer statement my friend =)
True
Spot on!
Words of wisdom
bit of a contradiction
From France, respect for the firefighters, and cuddles for Flame
They run a very stressful job and the one day fate just said “yknow? Imma gonna give these hard working firemen a cat to take care of and help them distress and relax while on the job. I’ll make it perfect for the environment” then came along lil flame who sparked a fire in the everyday heroes hearts
Dusty Grave are you kidding me? They could have just bought a cat.
With all the garbage happening in the world, stories like this are so heartwarming and make you feel good about life.
yup, my cat is 16 that I rescued and looks like Flame ,His name is Stinky Brown . But the world still sucks . Stinky will be 17 in June .
Wife: are you cheating on me? Who did you stay after work for?
Firefighter:...flame
What a bunch of great guys. He loves them all, he found a great home. I love how he loves his bath. Great job fellas.
I guess you are a pet lover and I hope you are doing well over there now if I may ask..?
Lesson here: More stressful workplaces need in house cats to serve as de-stressers. Cheap and effective. Cats cost practically nothing, easily lovable.
Except for food expenses, ofc
WiBS0N compared to therapy for every Ffighter cat food is nothing.
DarkKnightTrinity, I agree. Cats cost practically nothing. Don't tell Big Pharma.
cat hair clinging to my everything is quite stressful actually
I♥️♥️♥️♥️cat
As a volunteer myself that is true we have odly enough a mink at our station called pike
Is that why they used to have Dalmatians in firehouses back in the day? I wonder why they don't do that anymore.
I'm with flame, if I had a choice I'd be hanging around, with gorgeous, brave firefighters too.
I was thinking the same thing, I was like, are you sure that's not a girl cat?
desperate
@@pettycrimes6328 Maybe, that's why they found Flame a wife! (a girl cat)
@@ezprck6191 not really. The guy being interviewed is a straight up hunk.
@@ezprck6191 Jealous.
Him in a bath is the most “I hate this but I’m staying” energy
It's always nice to see men who love cats.
How can anybody not like cats? Even the devil loves cats.
And guys don't like cats anymore than women?
Same. Most men that I know are dog people.
Nova Lena ABSOLUTELY
Hypnos 0924 They say they are, but still succumb to the charms of a cat. I'm one of them.
When cats choose their home there's nothing you can do about it 🐱 😂
Same thing happened to me and now we got 7 cats.....
You can take a water hose to them and run them off... Wait they already tried that and it didn't work here.

You say:"we didnt pick him, he came to us".
That is how MOST CAT OWNERS GET CATS DUDE.
Yeah, that's how I got my flop child. There were two kittens available for adoption at the SPCA. The first one bit me so I put him back. I then picked up my flop child, she proceeded to climb into the hood of my jacket and wouldn't let go.
I got mine like that too
no it isn't
That's how I got mine. Both cats kind of came into my life one day.
Theta Dream stop more like dont mazilla didn’t repeat the same sentence for 2 times eh
