  • Helmholtz coils are devices that can generate a magnetic field that can be fully controlled: direction and magnitude. In the context of CubeSat design, they allow us to test subsystems: magnetorquers (attitude control actuator), magnetometers (sensors), control algorithms, etc. In this video, I show how we made our 3D magnetic simulation environment.

    This is a great video! I want to build a desk-sized one to test small magnetorquers and this helps give me an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

    Hi. I’m a final year student doing my final year project on design, fabrication and testing of a Helmholtz cage for ADC of small CubeSats. May I know the process of testing phase details? That would be really helpful for my final year project.

    Is it posible to do altitude control with similar system?
