Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Love pansies! Not sure how long they'll make it this year but we've had a cool spring in CO so they are doing great.
I love pansies! We plant them here in the fall and they are good for fall, winter and up to early spring if it doesn't get too hot too soon.

Hello from Bar Harbor, Maine! Great video, I’m excited about black king pansy from Baker Creek this year.
I finally got pansies to germinate. I put them in jugs (winter sown method) but placed them in my dark garage and finally got germination. I’m in a warmer climate so no concern about a frost killing the seedlings. I’m so excited!

I'm really glad you put this up, I love pansies, well, really I love violas and try to have several plants each year. I live in 9b so we don't get a lot of time for them. This year we've had a mild spring until about three days ago and my violas are gone. I had three pretty plants and had moved them into the shade but the heat killed them quickly.
You have such pretty colors and shapes. Now that I know they're easy to start I will start many for next fall.
My one question is are your able to collect the seeds? I've not figured out how to yet.

In all the years I've grown pansies, I've never once had them make seeds. The flowers always just fall right off!
Hi honey, loved this video your pansies are outta this world 😍! Quick question, I’m in Scotland and have just germinated black viola they’re currently in cells in a black grow bag but how much water do they need at this stage? I heard you only water once a week for the more established ones but what about when just starting out? I’ve put them in compost and vermiculite and gave them a spritz of water with a small amount of plant food, bad idea do you think?
I usually just keep the top couple inches of the soil consistently moist. If you're watering too much, you'll know. The plants will start yellowing, or you may even see white mold starting to grow on the soil. Good luck!
I am on my third attempt trying to seed pansies inside. Tried peat pods with no result, now trying in soil blocks. Next year I will do the WS method. That might be best.
I'm in 6B. Thinking I should start my seed indoors about early January. Does that sound right?
That is likely a good time. Since pansies do have some cold tolerance, they can generally be moved outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in spring. Happy gardening!
I would love to know what the other purple cluster bell shaped flower is in the center of your arrangement? I know I should know it but can’t figure it out? Phlox maybe? I see Raunuclous and mint as well, correct?

Can viola take heat!
I'm planning to start pansies from seed to plant this fall. I'm in Zone 6B. I didn't have any luck with germination last year, but I've been studying this year, hoping for better luck. I've read that the seeds need to be stratified, and I've yet to understand what this is. Neither of the You tube sites I've watched videos from mentions it. Is it necessary? If so, how do I do it?
Seed stratification means to put them in fridge or freezer for a few weeks. I would think the seed manufacturer would mention this on the seed packet but was not on my seed packets. Having lots of trouble with germination. I am in zone 5

I'm not sure if they are sold individually, but the variety I planted in this video is called "springtime cassis mix"
Can I plant the seeds right into my garden in the spring I’m in zone 7?
I've never tried direct sowing pansies. The seeds are somewhat large, so it may be possible. However, I would worry about the small seedlings being eaten by slugs. Good luck!

If you winter so, you don’t have to provide complete darkness?
I've had great success with both techniques. I do not provide darkness when winter sowing, but seeds still seem to germinate very well. Hope that helps! 🌱

What should Do with them if they are not germinate. I left mine in the darkroom for 10 days and I could see any thing.
Are the trays covered? If not, I would think that a lack of humidity may be an issue. Good luck! 🌱

You can. As long as they are not in direct sun light but still have lots of light.
Can you save the pansies you have over the winter and replant them in the spring?
Depending upon where you live, you may be able to overwinter them outdoors. Many pansy varieties have great tolerance to cold. I've never tried to overwinter them inside. Good luck!

I bought both pansy and viola on online store, and i didn't know that the seeds almost identical. I sow them in tissue and put them into fridge for 2 weeks. Now they were sprouting and i don't know which one which. Too bad this video didn't show any info.. at all 😑
