Huge era for Janet! She outsold her brother Michael's "Invincible" album in 2001 with their 1st week sales. Her body was on point too! My fave is "Come on Get Up" It's a felony that song was not released after the "All For You" single. And "Trust A Try" is a masterpiece!!!!
Off the bat, you aren't considering the lyrics in context to the previous body of work. On you ain't right she was sick and tired of the drama that was going on during the VR era and was ready to let some steam off, which is why the song starts off with a steam sound effect. Some songs are meant to just let the beat ride and feel the vibe so they put a guitar pre amp on her voice for the verses so you can feel the groove and let >t sound let she's venting to her close friend in the club. I just think you need to understand that her sound is a representation of lifestyle so everytime you say the production is too much its in context of the world the song lives in. Speaking of worlds lived in, you being born in the late 90s really is a disservice to your musical pallet. Its like the songs I thought you'd appreciate are the ones you don't connect with. When we ooh sounds amazing the way it is and much better live. Its like your looking for something that isn't there anf not just enjoying the plentiful and lush harmonies. I just wish you would take the analytical and technical mindset out of some of the tracks. Give them a re listen. The sex portion of the album is her emotional connection to a new love interest she met at the club on all 4 you. It gradually goes from love to sex to disappointment. I can't wait for you to hear warmth and moist on Damito Jo. By trust a try its like bruh, if you hadn't noticed, Janet loves singing staccato lyrics over fast hip-rock tracks so keep up lol. Clouds in my coffee refrence in to Carly Simons song You're So Vain. The cloud is representing a passing phase like when you look at a cloud it looks like one shape but when you look back it takes another form and disappears. Rene was with Janet from 91 till 2000 so he was Not responsible for her success but definitely responsible for being the muze behind some of her most deep and inspirational songs. If you don't go through something you wouldn't have much to write and sing about. Feel so right is a step song. Its like a feeling of being with friends and family at a barbq on a warm summer day. Doesn't really matter still plays at every restaurant I've worked at in the last five years and they play the album version. I'm dead at your faces for those strings at the end of better days I use to rewind that part and make those same faces when I was young lol
I love that you are listening to the entire albums. I feel like we don’t do that anymore. All of these Janet albums are so nostalgic for a lot of us. They remind me of being a kid and a teenager in my room listening to the album over and over with the cd booklet learning the lyrics. And then add in the music videos/ live performances...omg pure magic! The first time I saw Janet live was the All For You tour. She is pure magic. And still gives me goose bumps. I just want to say I appreciate you doing this. Much love!
The Singles: 1. "Doesn't Really Matter" was on the soundtrack for "The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps" in which Janet Jackson co-starred alongside Eddie Murphy. The original single version isn't that drastically different to the version included on the album.; 2. "All For You" officially launched the album; 3. "Someone To Call My Lover" was the next single; 4. "Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) featured a sample from Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" with fresh vocals by Ms Simon. The single mixes included appearances by Missy Elliott and Sean (Puff - P.Diddy - Diddy - Daddy) Combs; 5. "Come On Get Up" closed out the singles promotion (despite its limited release). "All For You" is also the first album since the Control era to feature production by someone other than Jam & Lewis (oh, and Janet herself) as a co-collaborator.
I would say that the son of a gun remix is better than the original. And Missy has told the story; had never met Janet yet, and had never heard the song. Was asked to do the remix, was played the song once and jumped in the booth to cut her vers and hype ad libs.
You also have to remember this was 2001. 9/11 ended many artists albums/tours during this time. So the reason songs like Come On Get Up and Feel So Right didn’t get released was because the entire project and tour was cut short from 9/11.
@@SalRocha Oh, and I personally think the only part of SOAG that’s about her ex was the irony of the chorus. The verses of that song are actually about two completely different people she’s had bad relationships with (friend/employee relationships). Now the verses Missy Elliot have on the remix IS most definitely specifically about her ex. The song that also is 100% about her ex is Truth. I love that track 💚 This is a personal album for her. She grew up Jehovah witness ‘who you date is who you marry’ and that’s what she did for 2 marriages. Then in 2001 she finds herself single, no longer Jehovah witness and in her sexual peak - she’s dating for the first time at 35, which is why there is a ‘cuteness’ to the songs. All of her albums is where she’s at emotionally and in life. She wanted to have fun and just do a carefree non heavy album. STCML peaked at #3 on billboard, it took the fans to do a petition to force Virgin to release a music video for it, by the time they did the song could only reach #3. It could have easily been #1. But Virgin was in a time when they were trying to force the public to buy her albums opposed to the commercial singles so they wouldn’t release certain singles commercially or music videos which threw off Janet’s singles from being more successful from the Velvet Rope on... (just FYI).
i think you should react to the concert for this album. the hawaii version! the choreo was on point especially for coke on get up and you ain’t right which are two of my fav on the album
Hey there recently discovered your channel and I'm loving this review series All For You is definitely one of Janet's best album it's also the first Janet album i listened to and it made me a janfam since then
Not only is this my favorite Janet album, it's my favorite album of ALL TIME by any artist! The Summer vibes🌞, the production, Janet being carefree, etc. It was also one of her most commercially successful albums. Also, All For You was the longest running #1 single of 2001, and that in her mid-30s. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This in my opinion the best fun and happy album Janet just got a divorve and you'll think this album be another The Velvet Rope but she did a 180 and made this album a fun, upbeat and sexy album I love how she keeps reinventing herself.
I love the breakdown instrumental section of You aint right! She says this is for the clubs and the beat is pure ear candy during that part maybe you need some strong speakers that got more bass. I always look forward to that part of you aint right .I think some Janet stuff you just had to live it and see it live as well. I think that song was a diss song to her close friend backstabbing her. The intro was weird tho lol also When we oo, china love, love scene sounds awesome on some good headphones . Like Bose and lmaoooo at your would you mind reaction 😂😂😂😂😂 and trust a try live in the Hawaii all for you tour is a good performance
Thanks for sharing! In a few repeat listens I've found that You Aint Right is better with repeat listens. However, many of the sounds are still very jarring when giving it a listen!
@@SalRocha your janet videos brought me back to your channel. Not gonna lie I saw a post that offended me with Kathy griffin on your ig & I was put off for a while it was alittle too much for me. But I love me some Janet & MAriah & Kylie minogue those are my top 3
I know you dont like music videos, but you have to watch the "ALL FOR YOU" Video. It's one of my favourite Janet videos. At the time it was played on MTV a whole lot more and also Because of 9/11 production and tour was cut really short (She was supposed to go on a full world tour) Also You should catch the ALL FOR YOU tour. Maybe you'll appreciate Would you Mind a whole lot more LOL... Its a great album. One of her most under rated. Come on Get Up is an amazing track too!!!
Your reaction to Would You Mind is priceless. Loved it. She performs the heck out of that one on stage and all of us lose our minds. You have to check out Rope Burn from the Velvet Rope stage show to see the progression. I agree that this project really didn't have a concept. The focus on this album was about leaving the serious stuff behind her and having a good time. The interludes are about her having fun with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in the studio while recording the album. Apparently they like recording her when she is unaware. The "outro" kind of hints at some mild insecurities of her work despite her success; but she is still talking to them. Son of a gun is a wild video because you have Carly Simon and Missy Elliott basically making fun of this guy that has cheated on her. Carly's big hit is "You're so Vain" so while they omit that lyric most realize that the next line is "I bet you think this song is about you". ruclips.net/video/mQZmCJUSC6g/видео.html Although I agree with you that I missed that there wasn't a central theme. I also take that this album is "All 4 You" referencing the fans with a little something for everyone. Take the parts that you like. We don't get back to a central album until we get to 'Unbreakable" which give us self reflecting grown up Janet. The stage show for All 4 U is awesome. You can probably go there and skip the videos.
You ain't Right was about a so called friend who tried to introduce her to drugs. Something like that. He or she slipped her something. Maybe the context will help you appreciate the song. I like the groove of it
@@alexandervelez9507 Nah that wasn't ever TIna, Paula Abdul & Jackie had a relationship in the 80s while Jackie was married which resulted in huge drama in the Jacksons & Paula (but that's all cleared now from what I know, at least we know it is with Janet & Paula). Janet & Tina fell out because Tina was engaged to another dancer on tour with Janet & he was cheating on Tina & Janet knew & she didn't tell Tina, and when Tina found out about it she found out she knew and....that's why it was about 10yrs before Janet & Tina did anything again, she talked about it on Oprah for Why Did I Get Married (only she didn't use names, but it was easy to piece together, the guy proposed to Tina on stage at one of the Velvet Rope shows)
The song featuring Carly Simon is a revised remade version of Carly Simon's song " Your so vain, I bet you think this song is about you" and contains many interpolations and references to the original song. "Clouds in my coffee" was part of the hook of Carlys song.
All for you was needed I feel to get Janet back on track with her usual fun, cute upbeat style. Especially, sterling the more dark and complex subject matter of The Velvet Rope. All for you, is definately more pop sounding then all her albums throughout her career. All for you is fun and sexy. She is unique in her style, so the songs you didn't like , just realize she always does different things. In her music which at first listen you may not care for. But if you listrnbcarefully, you will say okay, not my favorite, but not bad , a Decent song. I think the title track, would u mind, trust a try, love scene, someone to call my lover and Doesnt really matter are the stand out tracks. When we oooo is smooth and sexy, so give that song other listen and the Harmonies are beautiful. I agree, a album in the midfle. Not a classic, but definately worth a listen.
So here's the tea with Truth. Renee and Janet met on a music video set during Control era. On the same video set Janet also met her long time choreographer and friend Tina Landon. Renee did have a heavy hand in Rhythm Nation, Janet, and Velvet Rope. He didn't want name credits on anything and then at the divorce wanted back pay for all three albums. And You Ain't Right is supposed to be about Tina. And in an interview with Diane Sawyer in 2001, Janet says that Renee hurt her and did some bad things with her "long time friend", without naming tina directly. But her and Tina's relationship, personally and professionally lasted the exact same amount of time as her relationship with Renee. And in the same interview with Diane, Janet says she wondered if "They" every loved her or if it was all a set up from the beginning (which takes it all the way back to that same music video set from control era that she met both of them on).
Yes. When you are in the limelight, some people will befriend you and set you up from the very beginning KNOWING they intend to take you down at some point.
This is the first album where Janet started losing the young, girlish tone to her voice and started sounding more like her brother (especially in the falsetto moments). She started adopting a gauzier tone to her voice, which only became more apparent as she aged. Funnily enough, some of the songs you didn't like are the ones I appreciate the most, because Janet never really ever went there sonically again after this album. The undulating rhythms of When We Ooo and China Love are unique in her discography and would take an ear for more complex and sophisticated production to truly appreciate. The extremely brash and in your face You Ain't Right has what many consider Janet's grimiest, dirtiest groove. Better Days is a rousing inspirational song that is less preachy than something like Special or Can't Be Stopped because it comes across as a mantra or affirmation instead. Overall, this record is still a letdown especially after coming from The Velvet Rope, but it still is a pretty good one that features some of Janet's most confident and aggressive vocal delivery, along with some of her most extreme and experimental production to date. Trust A Try is the furthest she's gone into rock and opera; the samples on Someone To Call My Lover and Son Of A Gun are her most blatant yet. And yes, you should listen to the original Doesn't Really Matter, as the one on here omits the gorgeous bridge.
The All For You Tour was amazing too. The single All For You samples The Glow Of Love from the group Change which featured Luther Vandross . And believe me Fast Girls is way worse than You Ain’t Right . Renee did direct TTWLG and Again videos, he is also credited on RN, Janet , and TVR for his creative input.
I didnt fall in love with trust a try until I saw the live performance from the all for you tour. Check it out then do a reaction to the live performance of would you mind 😂😅
I would recommend the Son of a Gun music video it’s good. Carly Simon is a singer/songwriter and her No Secrets album is good. It contains the song You’re So Vain which Janet sampled for the Son of anGun song.
It exist a remix with puff dady & missy Elliot. The song is more hip hop. Very good remix with a vidéo. On the all for you tour, this is missy on the stage for the duo.
Watch Janet perform “you ain’t right” live from Hawaii!!! That song is also about her divorce and others that have done her wrong, It’s an amazing performance🤩 she has amazing vocals on this album, very light fun and lovely!!!! Honestly I thing you’re online review would be better if you did a full 1st listen yourself. And then as you do your video you’ve already gotten a feel for the songs because skipping through the tracks you miss so much of what the song is truly giving. Janet’s music requires deep listens to fully comprehend. It’s one of her best albums. I do love your reactions as a new fan!!!! ❤️❤️
Carly Simon came up with the "Clouds in my coffee" line on a cross-country flight. She explained the meaning of the phrase, saying: "Clouds In My Coffee are the confusing aspects of life and love. That which you can't see through, and yet seems alluring... until. Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch. ruclips.net/video/cleCtBP0o5Y/видео.html
This is my most favorite album from her. I relate to all the lyrics and this woman more than you to be quite honest but I'm glad you have an appreciation for this album. All for you and Someone to Call My Lover were the first songs I can recall hearing from her and I had no clue who she was at age 14. She is amazing. I feel people were to critical of the album and had high expectations. Why cant a music artist just make music that sounds good? It doesnt always have to have super-interpersonal lyrics all the time imo. I like the concept of 'light-hearted fun' and this album!
I love the interviews of Janet when she said everybody gets silent when Would You Mind comes on and she gets awkward one of the best if not the best sex song in history I love this album one of the 00's album.
"Better Days" reminds me of "Special" from The Velvet Rope, perhaps that was the similarity you heard too? All For You as an album was more uplifting and a happy vibe from The Velvet Rope, it's more of a upbeat dance album while The Velvet Rope was more deep and personal.
"You Ain't Right" was about a close friendship that went sour. The friend turned around and stabbed her in the back and did her wrong. The intro was them rehearsinf for her performance when she was honored at MTV ICON. It was not scripted, it was an actual conversation during rehearsals. All For You was her longest running #1 hit on the hot 100, it was #1 for 8 weeks I believe. All of the intros are actual conversations with her dancers.
I've actually grown to really love this songs with You ain't right becoming one of my faves. I think the first time listening I was just liked WTF was that?!
I feel like the reason why you're not connecting to some of the songs is because Janet's music is REALLY visual. The coreography is a crucial part of most of the songs in her discography and most of us (the fans) are used to the live version of the songs (You ain't right is one of them, much better live than the album version). You said that you're not very interested in the music videos or live performances so I really don't know how you're gonna enjoy her discography, to be honest. I know you liked some of the songs so far but you seem bored with most of them (some of the iconic ones actually) and I think that's really sad bcz you're definetely losing a lot. I'm not judging you or anything, I think you're one of the most respectful reaction youtubers out there and not too shady and I really apreciate that. I just feel like if you opened up a little bit to the videos/performances the process would be 10 times more enjoyable to you. Just a tip 😉. Anyway, great video as always! Looking forward to the next one 🧡.
Great analysis, remember my tier system (11 albums, 5 great, 4 good, 2 eh), this...and the next 2 are in that "good" middle ground, that tier is more so phoned in, it's not a representation of why she's my #1. I discovered Janet at 11 when this album was new (my mom hid it from me cause she had a feeling about Janets adult content), and when I did hear it full...I wasn't impressed beyond like a handful of songs, but it grew on me, same for Damita Jo (actually I liked Damita Jo more than All For You for years) now I see them as a yin & yang and depending on the context either can be just slightly better than the other. Today at 31 (...I didn't realize that was 20yrs ago until typing this), I have a different love and appreciation for it, 1 problem I think it has compared to it's predecessor is that it's a heavy uneven hold, 1 half is about that divorce the other is about single dating happiness, and like you said the songs in those categories mix mix with each other, but beyond the categories they don't mix all that well, it might've been a perfect case for a double album maybe. Here's the deal with the divorce and why it was so ugly, breaking it down, Rene & Janet had been friends since 1984, dating in 85, and married in 91, his claim/complaint was that he was co-writer for songs he never got credited for, even though, she's let him direct some of her videos, he was the co-credited creative director for all her tours and performances up to their divorce. He was real petty about "backpay" really, and it sucks cause from her perspective she couldn't fathom that it'd get that ugly, but she paid and in the settlement it's set that he can't write a tell all book (which he threatened) and she can't by name bismerch him (thus the clever writing in Son of A Gun & Truth & You Aint Right). And she was going through that WHILE making the album so whether she wanted it to or not it became this mismatch of "IM SO HAPPY IN MY NEW SINGLE LIFE....YET IM SO PISSED I GOTTA PAY THAT FUCKER SO MUCH!!", and there's times in life where that mismatch can be relatable especially when having to pull through tough times and not letting the bad distract from the good. It's funny you don't like You Aint Right (like not in a CLUTCH THE PEARLS HE TRASHED LOVE WILL NEVER DO way) but I just never quite heard it trashed, there's a remix I prefer that someone made using the vocal stems and it's WAY better when you hear her clearly and with less "obnoxious" beats. Lastly I'll conclude this book with I recommend the All For You Tour more than the videos (but both help), this is the last era where all the videos were really throught provoking and introspective and go beyond the lyrics, the eras ahead have very few singles & videos....for reasons Im sure you're aware of now.
Trust a Try was in regards to her ex husband cheating on her. She has always had a rock infused track on her records since RN. Black Cat, What'll I do on Janet, What About on VR, Trust a Try on AFY and so on.
You have nothing to be nervous about with "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", her Unplugged 2.0 album is the one that should be giving you nightmares and keeping you up at night.
You ain't right, Son of a Gun & Truth are all about Rene (Janet's ex husband) Come on Get Up didn't chart because of 9/11. Same reason why Mariah's Glitter flopped. My favourite is China Love, I sleep and shower to it all the time. Doesn't Really Matter just reminds me of the Klumps movie with her and Eddie. I LOVE BETTER DAYS. saved my life I remember back then, Janet was all over MTV that year.
WOULD YOU MIND.... If I comment on your review? LOL I appreciate that you always make very insightful observations for a first-time listener, so whether I agree with your conclusions or not, I know that it's coming from a place of care and investment into your listening, which is great. I can also tell that going on the Janet Jackson discography journey has really exposed you to some incredible albums, and maybe even changed the standards by which you consider albums. For me, A4Y is a great album, but not in the same tier as Rhythm Nation, janet or The Velvet Rope. Those for me are the top tier of Janet's discography, while Control, Unbreakable and All For You would be in a second tier. But here's the thing... they're all really great albums because Janet Jackson is a LEGENDARY artist. She's not gonna put out a 'bad project', but at her best, she created some of the greatest albums of all time. What's special about All For You is that Janet was on a mission to come out of her divorce with a big successful project, and show her ex that was, is and will always be in CONTROL. And this album definitely had all the ingredients to do that. I think they could've made it more cohesive by taking out 2 of the more repetitive tunes, and maybe rearranging things, but there's plenty of great songs here. Trust A Try sounds like a song you want when you get ready to produce Janet- the Musical. It's ALL there.
@@SalRocha aww thank you. Just glad you’re taking the time to explore my favorite pop artist. I am #JanFam all the way!! And after this review, I’m curious to hear your Damita Jo review. I suspect maybe you’ll like it better??? We’ll see.
I think there is really only one reason why Janet had no more number 1 singles, The Super Bowl. When you're blacklisted and no more of the new music makes it to radio, it's pretty much over:( In Canada, the radio stations had no idea when new singles came out.
This is the best fun Pop album of all time in my humble opinion Janet went from a moody type album to a happy and cheery album that was such a great transition of albums but before this album she transitioned to a happy persona with Doesn't Really Matter that song set the mood for the All For You album I love the song When We Oooo, Better Days and Trust A Try Janet should have released more singles.
This album is a bit of a phenomenon to me. While "Doesn't Really Matter" and "All for You" are among my favorite Janet singles the rest of the album just didn't click with me at all. I remember that at first listen the only other song I cared for was "Son of a Gun" but not nearly on the same level. Btw...you found one: to me "Ray of LIght" is far from being Madonna's best album". ;)
@@SalRocha janet's discography is a big grower. I haaaated the Velvet rope at first listen. Now decades later i truly worship every single track and the concept.
This arguably my favorite Janet Jackson album love listening to China Love, Would You Mind, Trust A Try and Better Days this is such a fun, poppy and happy album for someone who just got a divorce you think they still be bothered by it but nope not Janet and Son Of A Gun is about her second husband.
You Ain't Right is the only reason why All For You is so low on my list. It ruins an almost perfect album. I agree with your comments. Also go listen to instrumental of You Ain't Right. It is so good and one my favorite instrumental this is the only time in Janet history her voice ruins a perfect beat. I'm with you.
All For You was a bit of a letdown for me at the time especially coming after such an adventurous and interesting album like The Velvet Rope. To be honest for a period when the album was released I called it "Awful You" only because I felt it was a big step back from The Velvet Rope but my attitude has softened to it over time to the point where I can just accept it for what it is. I didn't love the singles (I know many of Janet's singles prior to this album had used samples before but I felt they'd been used more creatively than on this album) and the interludes added nothing to the album. Even then the four songs I ever really go back to - those being When We Oooo, Truth, Better Days and Who - you only *really* liked Truth while I never really liked Love Scene (I felt it was too repetitive). I just thought it was interesting we had similar feelings about the project as a whole but for different reasons. Good luck with the next three albums. If All For You left you underwhelmed then I don't hold much hope for Damita Jo, 20 YO and Discipline but then again you could surprise me. I tend to file them under "take the highlights from them and you'll make an amazing album, otherwise..." and I'd even add All For You to that. 2015's Unbreakable was in my opinion her strongest since TVR.
The single edit of "Doesn't Really Matter" is genuinely the better edit... and I recommend watching the video when reacting, because Janet slays it! ruclips.net/video/l4nAE_4xqm0/видео.html
I’ve always heard Janet’s music but it was only All For You I came to her snd the albums just don’t click with me. I’ve gone back to old ones. Re-listened to newer stuff. The singles are always good, but I feel they’re the most commercial, where the album tracks are a little, meh. I can appreciate what an Artist and performer she is, but I feel of you didn’t come to her in the 80’s, you’ll probably miss the overall ‘hype’.
@@SalRocha well, her music isn't very accessible with all the Interludes and "sensual breathing" songs she does. And judging by your facial reactions, you don't gel with many of the songs lol
Your personal preferences don't diminish her artistry, her talent, her contributions, her successes. Obviously millions of people love her music, her albums, her artistry and the fact that you personally don't like her doesn't change that.
Lol wow you are really not feeling this album. That’s sad 😢. Such an iconic album. It’s so interesting how we all hear things differently. You seemed disgusted with China Love 😂.
Not counting her first two albums (obviously) this and Damita Jo are my two least favorite albums. Not that I don't love them, they just don't hit me as well as the others.
@@SalRocha I honestly don't know lol, cuz the sequence makes total sense as a narrative...she starts the album wanting to have fun and hook up, then she does but doesn't get to cum, then she deals with her divorce trauma and has a happy ending
All For You.... made 1. Madonna's 1992 album "Erotica" blush (Madonna was ridiculed for the sexual themes. Janet didn't imply sexuality ... She was sexuality). 2. Olivia Newton-John's 1985 "Soul Kiss" storm off in a huff (because Olivia's image was deemed to be too overtly sexual, which turned off long term fans. Janet enticed her fans with her sexual imagery).
Now knowing how explicit some of Janet's songs can be I find it funny sometimes that Janet said when compared to Madonna she thinks that what she does "Has Class" It makes me laugh!
Now that i listened again after so many years i feel there's only 2 fillers : When we woo and China Love. And unfortunately they are very early on the album.
I actually think All For You is Janet's worst album-way too many ballads and it just drags. All the songs are not bad but it lacks any pace and I find it a chore to get through-I'd actually place it below her debut & Dream Street.
@@SalRocha OK maybe it's a stretch placing it below Dream Street but though individually I enjoy all the songs it's just not well sequenced- Damita Jo is far better!
Thanks for sharing!
So true Come on Get Up should been released just after STCML replaçing SOAG and Trust a try should be the last single

Much love!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
When We Ooo has one of the hottest productions. You tried it.

Pro tip: you can watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Eddie Talon yup, I've been watching on flixzone for since december myself :D
The Singles:
1. "Doesn't Really Matter" was on the soundtrack for "The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps" in which Janet Jackson co-starred alongside Eddie Murphy. The original single version isn't that drastically different to the version included on the album.;
2. "All For You" officially launched the album;
3. "Someone To Call My Lover" was the next single;
4. "Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) featured a sample from Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" with fresh vocals by Ms Simon. The single mixes included appearances by Missy Elliott and Sean (Puff - P.Diddy - Diddy - Daddy) Combs;
5. "Come On Get Up" closed out the singles promotion (despite its limited release).
"All For You" is also the first album since the Control era to feature production by someone other than Jam & Lewis (oh, and Janet herself) as a co-collaborator.
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I would say that the son of a gun remix is better than the original. And Missy has told the story; had never met Janet yet, and had never heard the song. Was asked to do the remix, was played the song once and jumped in the booth to cut her vers and hype ad libs.
You Ain’t Right is one of the best tracks of her career. I really cannot. 🤨

@@SalRocha you need to watch the live performances of this song.

What a bizzare song!
I love hearing you sing along to songs Sal! Your voice is magic! 😄😄😇😇🥰🥰
Thank you so much!!
You also have to remember this was 2001. 9/11 ended many artists albums/tours during this time. So the reason songs like Come On Get Up and Feel So Right didn’t get released was because the entire project and tour was cut short from 9/11.
I didn't think of that! Thanks for the info!
I love that track 💚
This is a personal album for her.
(just FYI).
Love this album. Doesn't really matter makes me feel so nostalgic
:)
i think you should react to the concert for this album. the hawaii version! the choreo was on point especially for coke on get up and you ain’t right which are two of my fav on the album

You Ain’t Right is so cool, so funky, and so awesome. It’s okay if you’re just YOUNG.
The productions are sonically innovative 😍😍😍
I agree!
It's all for you baby!
Carly Simon has a song called “You’re so Vain” and “Son of a gun” is basically part 2 of that song !! Give it a listen
Thank you! I'' check it out!
This in my opinion the best fun and happy album Janet just got a divorve and you'll think this album be another The Velvet Rope but she did a 180 and made this album a fun, upbeat and sexy album I love how she keeps reinventing herself.
Thanks for sharing!

At the time it was played on MTV a whole lot more and also Because of 9/11 production and tour was cut really short (She was supposed to go on a full world tour)

Come on Get Up is an amazing track too!!!

All for you is great album with a lot of gems! I don’t love every song, but it’s a solid album. Love you Janet!
Love you for commenting!
Carly's big hit is "You're so Vain" so while they omit that lyric most realize that the next line is "I bet you think this song is about you". ruclips.net/video/mQZmCJUSC6g/видео.html
Although I agree with you that I missed that there wasn't a central theme.
Thanks for sharing!!!
@@SalRocha hope I’m not getting on your nerves. We just had an interesting debate about the Super Bowl incident on your FB post 😥
You ain't Right was about a so called friend who tried to introduce her to drugs. Something like that. He or she slipped her something. Maybe the context will help you appreciate the song. I like the groove of it
That does help lyrically! Production is still a little to messy for me!
@@SalRocha lol ok.
i heard it was about tina landon who was sleeping with one of her married brothers.
@@alexandervelez9507 I heard that as well years ago. But I haven't heard about the date rape drug theory
Thank you!

Now ITS Time you watch the All for you Tour DVD
Soon!
I love that tour. I could watch the entrance to the tour all day.
I'm totally with you Andre!
You Ain’t Right is so much better than what you think.
Doesn’t Really Matter is my favorite song on the album
LOVES IT
So here's the tea with Truth.
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
Thanks for sharing!
All For You & Someone to Call My Lover are two of Janet's BEST pop songs ever.

The All For You Tour was amazing too. The single All For You samples The Glow Of Love from the group Change which featured Luther Vandross . I would recommend the Son of a Gun music video it’s good. Carly Simon is a singer/songwriter and her No Secrets album is good. It contains the song You’re So Vain which Janet sampled for the Son of anGun song.
Noted! Thank you!
Glad to have you here!

@@SalRocha Welcome
"Better Days" reminds me of "Special" from The Velvet Rope, perhaps that was the similarity you heard too? All For You as an album was more uplifting and a happy vibe from The Velvet Rope, it's more of a upbeat dance album while The Velvet Rope was more deep and personal.
Thanks for sharing!
All of the intros are actual conversations with her dancers.
you mean 'You Ain't Right'. 'You' is from the Velvet Rope

I've actually grown to really love this songs with You ain't right becoming one of my faves. I think the first time listening I was just liked WTF was that?!
The intro was her laughing like Fran Drescher.....lol
MR. SHEFFIELD!!!!!
Thanks for sharing! Glad you enjoyed the video!
u should look at the live version from the all for you tour of trust a try . its very cool
Totally!
As always thank you so much for your detailed thoughts!!!
@@SalRocha you're very welcome, I do apologize for the lengthy-ness lol
Trust a Try was in regards to her ex husband cheating on her. She has always had a rock infused track on her records since RN. Black Cat, What'll I do on Janet, What About on VR, Trust a Try on AFY and so on.
Lovely!
Hmmm kinda curious to see how you react to this CD. My favorites on this is All 4 U , Trust A Try and Son of a Gun
I hope you enjoy!
„Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill” next time maybe ?

You have nothing to be nervous about with "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", her Unplugged 2.0 album is the one that should be giving you nightmares and keeping you up at night.
You ain't right, Son of a Gun & Truth are all about Rene (Janet's ex husband)
Come on Get Up didn't chart because of 9/11. Same reason why Mariah's Glitter flopped.
My favourite is China Love, I sleep and shower to it all the time.
Doesn't Really Matter just reminds me of the Klumps movie with her and Eddie.

WOULD YOU MIND.... If I comment on your review? LOL
I appreciate that you always make very insightful observations for a first-time listener, so whether I agree with your conclusions or not, I know that it's coming from a place of care and investment into your listening, which is great.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for the lovely insights into the album L. Wayne!

I think there is really only one reason why Janet had no more number 1 singles, The Super Bowl. When you're blacklisted and no more of the new music makes it to radio, it's pretty much over:(

Btw...you found one: to me "Ray of LIght" is far from being Madonna's best album". ;)

This arguably my favorite Janet Jackson album love listening to China Love, Would You Mind, Trust A Try and Better Days this is such a fun, poppy and happy album for someone who just got a divorce you think they still be bothered by it but nope not Janet and Son Of A Gun is about her second husband.
Thanks for sharing!
Why is this video so far away from the last Janet video 😩
What do you mean?
@sal we had to wait so much since the last reaction
Thanks for sharing! Your alternate title Awful You had me cackling!
The single edit of "Doesn't Really Matter" is genuinely the better edit... and I recommend watching the video when reacting, because Janet slays it! ruclips.net/video/l4nAE_4xqm0/видео.html

The singles are always good, but I feel they’re the most commercial, where the album tracks are a little, meh.
Thanks for sharing!
I feel like the sequencing was really messy, all the sex songs in the middle of the album kinda ruins the flow
How would you sequence the album?
@@SalRocha I honestly don't know lol, cuz the sequence makes total sense as a narrative...she starts the album wanting to have fun and hook up, then she does but doesn't get to cum, then she deals with her divorce trauma and has a happy ending
you prmised to do jlo albums
One day!
All For You.... made
@@SalRocha oh my gosh lol
I love your face on You Ain't Right 😜😜😜😇🙆
LOL!
Fillers for You 🙃
;/
Now that i listened again after so many years i feel there's only 2 fillers : When we woo and China Love. And unfortunately they are very early on the album.
@@RicardoCastillo-oh4ie i love china love. when we oo can go tho.
This guy has the worst taste Omg
Omg so do you
I actually think All For You is Janet's worst album-way too many ballads and it just drags. All the songs are not bad but it lacks any pace and I find it a chore to get through-I'd actually place it below her debut & Dream Street.
That's quite a statement placing it below Dream Street!
@@SalRocha OK maybe it's a stretch placing it below Dream Street but though individually I enjoy all the songs it's just not well sequenced- Damita Jo is far better!
Very sweet record 💕
:)
