Being immortal in DOORS is actually kinda horrifying imo. Being unable to truly die, but still being able to feel pain as shown by the health bar, everytime we take damage, we feel it but can't die. When Rush attacks us or when figure rips our head off, we can feel it, every single time. What did we do to deserve this?? Edit: What if The Hotel and the subfloors are some sort of purgatory for our character? lol dont take this too seriously guys
Not just revives but in general The fact that you even respawn in the lobby hotel after each death (without revives) also is part of your immortality The most obvious place this comes into play is with the Backdoor, as that sublevel canonically takes place after the rooms, and seeing how the rooms can only be accessed at door 60 it means the player canonically had to die after beating the rooms in order to go back to play the Backdoor
There is some kind of religion (idk which) where to go to the afterlife you have to pay a ferry man (pretty much just a boat driver) so maybe you don't pay guiding light but the ferryman (also in pressure you actually pay a ferry man to revive)
curious light wants us to go into rooms so we can unlock the exit for curious light and lets the light into the basement (backdoor floor) and essentially meaning curious light is freed
I think that the red light does not necessarily want us to fail, it provides harder challenges with more rewards, and easier challenges with less rewards
Yeah! If the red light (potentially named mischievous light) wanted us to fail, and has access to the modifiers, why wouldn’t they just set it to as hard as possible? And why would there be easier modifiers in the first place? I personally see the red light as not necessarily against us making progress, but not wanting our journey easy, hence them potentially disabling the powers of the crucifix on seek, figure, and grumble. I also feel their potential name (mischievous) might give a hint on their personality, too
perhaps it's because they're offering us worldly desirable things, such as the knobs (currency/money in game) if we diminish guiding light's power so it can gain total control over the setting. Something like how people "sell their soul to the devil" in order to gain power, influence or wealth.
you can physically see the red light when you use the crucifix on seek and figure. The red light exists only to stay on the opposite side of the guiding light.
This also makes sense considering how you get to the backdoor (which is canon) because if you want to get there you have to get the achievement and die
Yo chedder balls i have a theory about guiding light, can you make a vid about it. Here it is: I know real big lore, in the hotel + update we are met with el globlino and bob the skeleton. In the game you can listen to globlino and one of the speech says “Düd we were at the garden once with böb and he stepped on a spiky thing ( snare ) and i never heard a peep from him since” which comes in the fact that bob was a real person, but died to snare reaching door 90 to 99 which is the garden. I theorize that bob somehow got in this hotel died and became the infamous Guiding light. If you listen so closely you can hear screams and wind across the room that confirms that garden is haunted and bob is ( may ) the guiding light. Thanks for reading
It’s a good theory, but one slight problem. El Goblino THINKS Bob is still alive, which means he wouldn’t have carried a dead Bob all the way back to Jeff’s Shop without realizing that Bob has perished.
Bob is from Nicorocks5555's (the creator of The Rooms) another game called "Bob is Missing", if you play the Rooms you can see a name tag wrote "Bob", El Goblino also mention that Bob seeing a light that isn't blue (Curious Light), it means Bob was working in the Rooms until the entities showed up and he had to escape but he ended up in the hotel and died

I think that Curious Light has its own goals and motives, and the player just so happens to be there while Curious does its goal. maybe it's using us to help it? It's very clear Curious is supposed to be an inbetween between the red and blue lights, but the specifics are unclear.
My theory: We, the players already died. We are the spirits, that explained why we are immortal, because we are in afterlife. We are the spirits that stuck in some sort of Purgatory, a waiting place where we wait before going to the court, where we will be judged before going to hell or heaven. Either we will go to hell or heaven based on how much we commit sins while we still alive. Purgatory could be a happy place, normal place, or a place of suffering, it depends on your sins. But it seems like we're in the bad purgatory because we constantly haunted and being tormented by the entities, because we have so many sins. But when you looking at the new Guiding Light statue, you notice there's a writing in front of it, it's a Wingdings font, and if you translate it, it says "Limbo". Limbo has many meanings, but I think it gave us clue where we actually are. "In Catholic theology, Limbo (Latin: limbus, 'edge' or 'boundary', referring to the edge of Hell) is the afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the Damned. However, it has become the general term to refer to nothing between time and space in general." "If you say that someone or something is in limbo, you mean that they are in a situation where they seem to be caught between two stages and it is unclear what will happen next." It means a place where we went after we died before getting babtized, maybe similiar to Purgatory, we being tormented for commit so many sins when we still alive. A place where we between time and space. A place where we won't know what will be happening next. It make sense why Guiding Light's statue is an angel, because they will guide and protecting us during the Purgatory or Limbo. I'm not a religious expert, I only theorising based on Christianity lore, which is Doors took inspiration of.
Guiding light isn’t the statue it’s an architect plus one of the developers says that doors isn’t biblically related but idk y he said that since there is literally a crucifix

nice vid but i dont think the red light is against us. i think it still wants us to get out but wants something in return. I have a theory guiding light can interact with the entire hotel but is not strong enough to control entity movements that’s why guiding light cannot move closest near you because hide exists
Well I think that the hotel was made to keep the entities frome escaping... We cant escape either so.. what if we (the player) are an entity ? If DOORS is a state between life and death, maybe in our past ife we did something so bad we deserve to be treated as an entity in a never ending loop to be punished. If you really think about it, the lights dont ACTUALLY help us escape or show us an exit, they just tell us to keep coming back, thus making our endless suffering longer and maybe infinite...
I know this might sound insane but what if game development takes time, they wanted to make sure doors floor 2 wasn’t mid and it just released while pressure was doing well

It wouldn't suprise me if the lights turned out to be evil. They are perfect for a twist villain plot imo. If this is the case then I believe that Curious Light is the most likely one. I mean surely there's a reason why they are locked up in the sub-floors, right? I don't know if I'm the only person who noticed this, but I feel like Curious Light acts a bit different in the backdoor. If modifiers are on you can see Guiding Light and the red light next to Curious light, but they are tiny in comparison. My own head canon is that Guiding Light and the red light feared Curious Light's power so they split Curious Light into pieces and locked them away in the sub-floors. And by escaping the sub-floors we are freeing the parts of Curious Light. This could perhaps lead up to a secret ending with Curious Light. This is just what I think is most likely. Not canon.
