Just bought a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2 door and putting on 33" tires next week. Glad I found this video. You do a fantastic job explaining things to us "noobs".
Don't have a JL or JT, but a JK, and still love watching this stuff and learned something new. Also, let's not gloss over the way he always presents not just the fix, but what is actually going on to cause the issue AND he goes over other options (wheels, spacers) and then shows us a extreme budget solution. Love this shit.
Ripley reminds me of the dog (Chaser?) that could remember lots of toys. These pups are smart. Now on the Jeep fix - So glad you tried the easy cheap fix. So many would by spacers, new wheels, different sway bar,... Another quality video.
Ruby is smart just like our Bella Boo who is a female Borador. Part Border Colie, part Labrador. They go nuts for water, so can't was a vehicle with her outside lol. Great fix video.
Did the basically the same in 1996 Tacoma to the 96 Tacoma. Although the stops are in different locations. Good fix . So far haven’t had that problem with 2 door 2021 same tires Wrangle Willys edition. Like your videos ! Thanx .
Great video ,just what I need when I first replied to your video I thought you were making the adjustments from the front of tire . Then I see it from the back of the tire . I’ve have done it used 2 washers seems too have helped. Thank you for all the info you give .
You once again provided a fix with a simple solution. This video will probably save people time and money. Thanks for posting. 👍 My wife enjoys your videos but is disappointed when you don’t have a Ripley segment.
This is the only channel I have notifications on for. Always awesome when I see the notification 😅 Awesome video! Love seeing pippy. I'm more of a 2 door person 😆
Thanks for the tip. The best solution, though, is to get the correct wheels with the correct offset. I hate the idea of increasing my turn radius and maneuverability. Before installing my front stubby bumper. I found slight rubbing between the bumper filler and the larger 35". Filler removed, problem solved. Thanks for the good tips!
These are factory wheels and so they are the correct offset. Installing aftermarket wheels with different offset or less back spacing will move the steering axis inclination and that will adversely affect your scrub radius. They will also move the wheel center line and that will create more leverage and cause your ball joints and unit bearings to wear out prematurely. Clearly, with 35" tires or bigger, there are sacrifices that need to be made to clear components on your Jeep but that doesn't mean they are "correct".
Or, go with "pizza cutters" and install LT255/80R-17 (33" x 10.5") tires. I have the Toyo Open Country AT3's on my 2020 Willys on the factory 17" x 7" Moab wheels and they fit perfectly with no rubbing. Love your videos and really enjoy the Pippi series. Just offering info as I build my Jeep along similar lines. Oh, and for those with the automatic transmission, you'll need to have it re-programmed for the taller tires so it shifts properly. And, how smart is Ripley?! Wow! Keep living well, my friend! Pete - KI7LIL
You are lucky your car is so high I have a lowered coupe and i'm trying to diagnose rubbing. To make it even more difficult it only does it when i'm not moving and holding the brake and turning close to or at full lock. I am not sure if it does it while driving because I would never turn that wide while going any significant speed but also it does not make this noise when I put the car in park and turn lock to lock. Only when holding the brake with some weight load on the suspension i'm assuming is causing this issue to present itself.
You are correct, not all measure the same and these are a bit bigger. Also, after making this video, we measured both the JL and JK sway bars and found that the JK ones are actually wider at the bend. So, that is a factor as well.
Great video, thank you . I have a 2023 gladiator Mojave that came with Falken 285/70R17 . I would like to put Falken 315/70R17 12.5” wide. Do you think I would be able to install these without doing any other modifications?
Howdy Eddie ... so this actually happened to me on my 2000 tj BUT THEY WELDED ANOTHER nut to it instead of having a Washer ..anyway I didn't get charged for taking it out
Great video Sir, I see that yours was rubbing in from the front tires and you made adjustments from the front .Mine is rubbing from the back at full turn. Would their be a stop on the back side?
Do you think Pipi would make it through Deer Valley (not in snow of course) ? I did it 2 years ago in my TJ and U would think the climb up the southern end from Hwy 4 would be a challenge on the smaller tires and no locker.
Thank you for posting awesome content. Can I please ask if your front tires rub on the coil bucket when you are at full flex with the sway bar disconnected? I’ve just fitted the same size to my sport on stock rims. Thank you.

Is there a lift on this Jeep? And what size tires? I'm going to use my stock Jeep wheels with 305/70r17 tires and add a 2 inch lift. I'm hoping I don't have any rubbing issues and I'll never trust wheel spacers.
No. Just enough to stop the slight rubbing we were seeing in specific situations. Anything more and you would start to see a slight difference in turning.
If you watch to the end of the video, you'll hear me say that IF I had rubbing on the other side, I would have installed a washer there. As in, you just need to adjust for the rubbing side.
@@Loss8131 The biggest tire that came on a standard TJ from the factory was 30". The Rubicon came with 31" tires but typically, you'd need at least a 1.75" coil spacer lift to clear them at a full flex. Anything bigger and you would really want to run wheel spacers or new wheels with less back spacing to prevent rubbing at a full turn.
I have seen jl sport owners with no lift put 315 70 on their stock rim which are 7.5 in wide. Is this safe? I’m looking into 305 65 on the stock rims if safe, otherwise I plan on putting these tires on a 8.5 in wide rim with about 5.25 inches of back space / 15 to 20 positive offset. Will both of these combinations rub? Not as an off roader, just as a daily driver?
I think the bigger question is whether or not the tire shop you use will install them. If they do, you should be fine. If not, THEY will say it's because it's unsafe.
I started watching your videos after buying my 2023 jeep JL but I have to say the end had to be my absolute favorite part 😅

Shouldn’t the stops both touch at the same time at full lock
Umm, yes, the tie rod connects both sides and that is the exact reason why only ONE steer stop would touch at a full lock. As far as some kind of 'strain' goes, I have no idea what you might be imagining. Sorry.

Depends on the tire and what wheels you're running.

If you watch to the end of the video, you'll hear me say that IF I had rubbing on the other side, I would have installed a washer there. As in, you just need to adjust for the rubbing side.

Not by enough to make a difference or that I can see or even tell.
