In this video, I'm sharing with you my evolution into machining, which started once I put my first RC car together. How it propelled me to start my own RC Car Kit Manufacturing Business called "Tigermoth Racing" and how that evolved into my machining and prototyping career.
I'm also showing my last RC acquisition: The. XMaXX Monster Truck.

This is so crazy because when I was 14 years old I started putting together my team associated rc10 T3 and then I began slamming it out in Hammad and Ghuman CNC machine parts. Also JPS aluminum machined rims and also Lunsford titanium turnbuckles ..Then I decided to become a machinist and still am to this day and the parts that I couldn't buy I made myself. Such a similar story kind of crazy

You never know, sometimes those childhood experiences change the rest of our lives.

I was 10-11 when I got introduced in hobby grade RC. My first RC was my older brother Marui Big Bear.

I miss those days of rc vehicles that were just fun. I want to make some vehicle kits like that. These modern cars are made to go 100 MPH.

Great Video. I spent a lot of time growing up with RC cars. I was making my own parts as well but pretty rudimentary as well. Mostly with a dremel. I loved cars but they were to expensive. Had maybe 10-20 RC cars across my young life, emaxx, tmaxx, and D8 to name a few. I was doing nitro to brushless conversions right when brushless was just starting to be found (in RC world). Never knew about machining until last few years (13 years later) but looking to learn as much as possible about machining. Thanks for sharing

Thank you. I have always been fascinated by power transmission and suspension systems. RC is an excellent hobby to explore lots of designs. I have a collection of 60+ rc vehicles and aircraft that I have enjoyed over the years as well. I am glad you are enjoying the videos, we are having fun making them and look forward to the many many things we can share as we go.

I remember when brushless came to rc cars as well. Lots of guys were spending 1k+ on systems that still had cogging and starting problems. The tech of motors/ESCs and lipo batteries has been the biggest advancement in the hobby I think.

In my LHS someone had a xmaxx that was all aluminum, I looked at that and laughed, I knew it was only good as a shelf queen

Awesome video. My son and I 3d print planes but would love to put a kit car together with him! Are your kits still available?

We do not currently offer any RC kits however we consider diving back into it again. Maybe next year when the shop is fully organized and in tip top shape.

Cool hobby, is there much overlap with drone fans or are the car guys a separate group?

My experience has been that the groups are pretty seperate. This may be because there is a whole world to learn about in each category it can be overwhelming, but there is nothing stopping anyone from racing cars and flying drones for example. The skills carry over and they are all fun. I have done cars, trucks, nitro, electric, boats, airplanes, drones, helis and enjoy them all.

It seems to be what the new hotness is, I knew guys that loved racing 8th scale buggy ans truggy, then sell it all and invest in drones, then sell all of that to get into crawlers.
Another big thing that happened was because of covid.
Ppl stuck at home bored so they bought cars like crazy, my LHS Cyclone Hobbies couldn't keep cars on the shelf
