Maybe I have a setting wrong? But there is a bit of “tin-iness” when using this method.
Digital DJ Tips True but if your audio is selected in Serato to come from the computer I believe you should be able to capture that in a screen record. I’ve done it. Not as good a solution as the one you presented but an alternative one.
You can do similar in all DJ software, just get a small app called Black Hole or VB Cable for your laptop in order to "send" your Virtual DJ audio to any recording app eg Audacity.
No but the principles are the same, use a virtual audio cable to route your internal audio to a recording app OR use something to record the output of your gear

Hi Phil. Great tip as always, however, when I clicked on 'make audio available to other apps' I get a message stating 'this feature can't be used without Serato Virtual Audio. Would you like to install now'. I run the installation but it keeps failing. It then states to contact the software manufacturer which I've done, but wondered if you had any ideas? I am running Sonama 14.4.1. Cheers, J
No idea why you're having that issue, sorry. Serato Virtual Audio is doing the same thing as an app like VB Cable, Black Hole or Loopback does ie routing the audio internally, so you could try one of those instead.

you probably had your trim to high. look at your channel level. if it is above the 4th bar depending on what set you have (i have the pioneer dj ddj-sb3) the audio will sound terrible.

You need to route the audio internally so it is available for Audacity. Look at apps like "Black Hole" to achieve that (it is a "virtual audio device").
Since Spotify dropped streaming service for DJ Pro, I just switched to serato using Tidal. The interface and program is much better in my opinion. You should give it a shot, free 14 day trial of serato pro. I know this doesn’t solve your recording question though.

Good hack. A more complicated alternative workaround is to just do a screen record then extract the audio.
It still relies on being able to capture the audio from Serato though which is the issue.

You can, but you have to use an app like Audacity to do so and it only works when you burn to CD.
