      i feel you, i struggled with spanish too! for comprehension i watched a LOT of netflix shows so i could understand more or less any common conversation after a few months. speaking is hard but it’s really just a matter of practice, confidence, and being ok with making mistakes!

    Congrats! I have just entered DP2 (class of '24) with UPG of 41/42. However, I do have a concern for the EE/TOK parts. Seeing you do so well in all of the subjects but still got a C in EE, is it really that difficult? And also wtf are those 2024 TOK essay questions 😭

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Год назад +4

      hi! I think I struggled with the EE largely due to my topic choice - it was difficult to collect sufficient data and apply enough economic theory. In general I’d say stick closely to the grading criteria (I definitely didn’t refer to it enough). As for TOK, I just looked at the m24 prompts and they do look tricky! tbh I think TOK is really subjective and largely down to luck - I rushed my essay but spent lots of time on the exhibition, yet I scored higher on the essay.
      You’re already in a great position with your PG so I wouldn’t worry too much about the EE/TOK points - unless you need like 42+ for a scholarship/uni req, it’s not worth the time and effort for such few additional points in my opinion.

    Congratulations!!! I'm going to take the IB exams in November 2024, I hope I get over 35 points. Are there any tips for writing the TOK essay? I'm kinda struggling on TOK.

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Год назад

      thank you! I recommend watching videos from the channel 'Get an A in TOK' on RUclips, also get lots of feedback from your teacher and read the criteria closely. I honestly felt that TOK was very luck-based seeing as it's very subjective and the grading is done externally, so don't stress over it too much and prioritise your other subjects. good luck with your exams!

      for spanish i found immersion to be super important - i watched 200+ hours of spanish movies + tv shows (always spanish subtitles, sometimes spanish audio too) which helped so much with vocab, understanding fast speech, speaking naturally etc, and it’s super fun hehe
      for math i’d suggest revision village, getting a tutor + consistent practice above anything - i have a full video on ib math up on my channel :)

    Hello, this is my first year of IBDP, and I was wondering if you could give me some tips to getting above a 40. Also how were your marks at the beginning of your IBDP were they bad, moderate, or good? And would you say the generous conversion rate saved you? Sorry if I’m asking too many questions it’s because the stress is real.

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  8 месяцев назад

      hi! if you’re in first year i’d say the most important thing is building good study habits/routines. my marks at the beginning varied quite a bit, for some subjects like math & spanish i was at a 4-5 level but for the others i was mostly getting 6s and 7s. hope that helps and don’t stress too much in year 1, it’ll be ok :)

    hi i am taking novemeber 2023 exams and i just wanna ask what are the most important tips for subjects ike chemistry or math sl becauee those made me have lower Ib scores and yeah i am kinda stressing because it gets closer everday. I jsut hope the grade bundaires arent that bad

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Год назад

      hi! I didn't take chemistry but for math I'd say do lots of past papers and focus more on your weaker topics. the grade boundaries are normally lower for math than other subjects so even if you're getting lower grades now there's a good chance those same marks will be a higher grade on the finals. good luck!!

    • @salt5711
      @salt5711 Год назад

      maths generally has a low grade boundary, I got a 45 yet my grade was a 5. So as long as you have a decent grasp on the concepts and do even a few practice papers, u should get at least a 5. I'd say worry more about chemistry, it usually has tough grade boundaries so it is even harder to score more

    @jq4s Hey congratulations!! Fruits of your hardwork an perseverance i guess.
    I have a doubt. Is it needed to admit a child in IB since Early years? Like lkg and ukg or it doesnt matter if we join the child in state/cbse/icse/igcse etc and then shift her to IB?
    Is ir recommended that since eaely years and pyp IB is needed if we plan on joining the child in IB in the later years?
    Please suggest. Thank you and all the best.

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Год назад

      hi, thank you! I did pyp and myp as well and I don't think it's necessary - maybe some of the writing/research skills from myp can help but the ib (diploma programme) is independent - they should be fine regardless of what programme they have studied before :)

    • @salt5711
      @salt5711 Год назад

      People say MYP trains the child better, but that is BS. MYP doesn't even help you with the exam-taking skills, the only useful thing for DP that you'd derive from MYP is the essay-writing skills since that is highly looked upon in MYP. However, with some at-home practice, that won't be tough. MYP only has mocks planned out for students in 10th, maybe 9th, that too online mocks (due to there being e-assessments rather than traditional paper exams for their board examinations). If you want to focus more on exam-taking skills to prepare them better for DP examination, I recommend another board like IGCSE. This is because exams on paper are kind of stressful, and writing by hand takes more time than typing, so it is harder to manage your time as well. Also, if you want to prepare for DP, REGARDLESS OF YOUR BOARD, WORK ON YOUR TIME-MANAGEMENT AND BUILD DISCIPLINE EARLY ON. DP is only hard and not manageable because of poor time-management skills. Apart from studying, work on building discipline and to work when you need to, and not when you just feel like it. Lazing around will get you nowhere + these skills are also useful in your actual life than just in IB DP.

      @@salt5711 Yea thank you for your response. But my main question is, Is it needed to admit our children in PYP since Kindergarten in IB schools? or can we carry on with CBSE or IGCSE syllabus and then shift later if needed.

      hi this is kinda late but as someone who was in cbse from 4th till 10th grade and then joined IB [will be going into dp2 in july] i highly, HIGHLY recommend that you let the kid stay in cbse/icse till 10th at least because, coming from personal experience, as much as i hated the exam taking style and teaching style of cbse, it got me used to a different type of rigour that igcse/ib kids didn't have coming into dp1. For math especially, because cbse and icse math is quite in-depth and we don't get to use calculators, IB math gets pretty easy [i took AI SL in IB and Standard Math in CBSE] the only difficulty with math would be getting used to the calculator, otherwise its pretty chill. The rigour a kid faces in CBSE/ICSE and IB is totally different but i feel both are necessary because in my own experience being in CBSE taught me how to persevere even though i hated the fact that i was forced to study subjects i wasn't even interested in, and that makes IB a little bit easier to handle as at least here i get to study what i want to, and that makes the rigour of it worth it. hope this helps :)

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Год назад +1

      for both i used revision village, revision dojo, the oxford textbooks, and most importantly past papers!! more specifically math is more towards practicing a lot whereas bio is just memorisation haha

    • @salt5711
      @salt5711 Год назад

      @@jq4-s Bio is sort of memorisation, but wouldn't it also require some practice? At least in my mocks, I see a lot of application based questions. But tbf, I guess if you memorise and understand your material you can do those questions with ease, regardless of whether youve done practice papers or not

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  11 месяцев назад

      definitely, but i’d say for bio you need good content knowledge to even attempt practice qs - compared to subjects like math (and physics/chem from what i’ve seen) where practice is essential for properly understanding the content
