The conductor giving the narration about the Moffat Tunnel does a wonderful job explaining the history, and the engineering of the tunnel and its effects upon the region. You may say that's his job to do that, but I have taken that trip through and heard nothing at all. Hats off to you Sir.

His job to talk all the way through the dark tunnel so claustraphoibic passengers stay at ease.

WOW I had always been wishing and still do so. To be on board the train if possible on engine cab. As RIO GRANDE slogan says THRU THE ROCKIES NOT AROUND THEM. Nice job and what a great idea a tour guide inside the tunnel, introducing us to the MOFFAT TUNNEL itself. I congratalete the idea, the best tour guide TO HAVE BEEN choosen THE TRAIN CONDUCTOR.

The Moffat is 6.2 miles. The Swiss dug the Gotthard Base tunnel 35 miles through the Alps at a cost of $9.5 Billion. Opened in 2016.

Took the ORIGINAL California Zephyr AND Amtrak's attempt. Absolutely no comparison between the Vista Domes on the original Zephyr and Amtrak's upstairs lounge car. Vista Domes let you see front, back and sides; you could see the track ahead and feel like you were the engineer as well as a sightseer. Also, absolutely no comparison between the service, accommodations, and food on the original Zephyr and Amtrak's version. Just a shame.

Well, what else can you do? Amtrak is government funded, and the government doesn't fund stuff like that, unfortunately.

@@maxbuskirk5302 When you're maintaining the defense forces that keep the Free world free, then there's not a lot of Govt. money left over to fund the luxury of "European Rail."
