The exact same thing happened to my S8. Numerous times I had taken photos underwater in pools & lakes with no problem. One little drop in salt water & it was done. I didn't even realize there could be an issue. It was working fine, then it just stopped. I let it 'dry out' & it started working again. However, it wasn't charging properly & the batter was draining quickly. Days later I noticed water under the lens on the selfi camera. I pulled out the sim card and there was water on it. Not sure if all this effort is worth it, but this is a fantastic video.
I think the water resistance is supposed to be only good for rain or the accidental splash of water, not full submerging in water, even though some of the advertising show differently. Drying it out may take days or even weeks if you don’t open the phone. Perhaps some components will need to be replaced if it doesn’t switch on anymore. Hope you can fix your S8 if not for the phone, at least for the data on it, in case you don’t have a backup
The same happened to mine!! Have you got yours fixed? My photos weren't saved elsewhere as I was on holidays with no WiFi so I'm afraid they'll reset it to factory settings
How about submerging it in a bowl of rice for several days, depending on how wet it gets?Apparently, the rice absorbs the moisture. I did that once and it worked! The phone had been lying in the rain for several days. 🙈
Hello, few days ago i had liquid detection alarm on my galaxy s8 when plugged in charger. Today one third of my touch screen became unresponsive. Can it be caused by water damage?
hahhaha this guy is amazing hahahhahah after 15min. fuck it... Ill buy a new part. it would be even more awsome if you just trwe it away at 16min hahahha i have the same problem with my phone. it went scooba diving in the toilet
Hey .. Thanks for the video ! How do you check what circuit is broken .. Is there a procedure to do to check that ? My samsung was damaged by water and I want to identify what part has been damaged .. How do you know that?
i just did a visual check and was guessing it was the usb connector because it looked burned/charred. maybe try using a multimeter to see if there is any current on the different components? there should be instructions on youtube on how to do that with a multi-meter.
Look for corrosion and rusting you'll want to really look close for some blue debris around the connectors use a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol and brush around where there's corrosion and rusting if there's too much you'll need to replace it but if not it's saveable. Usually the damage is to the daughterboard and the bottom where the charger and 3.5mm jack are so you'll want to check around there too and if it doesn't charge try wireless charging because usually it is just the daughterboard and make sure you know that the damage is definitely in the area you see so I'd look at some other videos too to make sure. Good luck!
my phone is a little old and I just had it wet from a kiddie pool and everything seemed to work fine for 5 hours until now when the screen just started flickering and it seems everything else is working fine except for the screen quarantine isn't really convenient so do you have any tips or just general instructions to follow for this specific case for me to fix it on my own? I'm watching the whole video btw
It's better to turn it off completely (shutdown) and don't charge ìt or turn it on for a week or 2 until it's completely dry. You can take out the sim tray also to let air in while it dries
@@1emc Hello, my phone also got water damaged, but did not know i should keep the phone off. My screen still appears, sometimes some pixels seems damaged, but goes back to normal. My touch screen on my phone is not responsive at all. I guess i should just leave my phone alone for like 2 weeks? Thanks!
@@costiForzzza Couldn't ffix it :( planning to get a new phone. Wow been like 2 month without an actual phone xD(using a spare that cant call but little internet).
My S9 won't turn on I think it's water damaged you think it's fixable I checked the water damage sticker but it's not red or anything so I don't know 🤷🏽♂️
You can just let it rest in a dry place for a couple of days before trying to switch it on. You can also open the sim tray so that there is some air current into the phone. Also don't charge it while it's still drying.

Well mine worked after 1month later
after getting wet I think I had it charging for 2 hours :( Can I still fix it?
Can anyone help me my s8 definitely has water in it I can see it in the flashlight and camera and it won't turn on
Wait a couple of days until it's completely dry and try again. If it still doesn't work, one or more internal components may have to be replaced.
Internal components such as what I think it might be the screen any I dea can water damage the screen inform me thanks
I can't get the back off and keep accidentally stabbing myself
maybe heat up the back of the phone some more with a hair dryer so that the glue gets softer
