If you've listened to their debut album, then you'd know this band is fond of doing things to break the simple verse chorus verse chorus breakdown chorus structure of metalcore. They've done this exact structure before where they throw in a random clean sung chorus sounding bit after having a refrain of screams that is clearly meant to be the hook. It's one of the things they do best and at first it's jarring but it absolutely grows on you.
I'm really starting to get into Polaris!!! I think if you like them, you should check out Alpha Wolf! My favorite song by them is Sub Zero, Russian Roulette, Golden Fate; Winter Break, or Black Mamba😁 Is it Pol-air-is or Pol-ahr-is?
@@twinny_mi trust me I've already been listening to Alpha Wolf they're great 😂😂 and its Pole-AIR-iss for North Americans and Pol-Ah-riss for Europe and Australia
Jamie is a NUT yo, this dudes energy is insane with the screams! Seeing them live was absolute fucking MADNESS they sound perfect and their live production just blows your head off. Fuck yeah!
I think they had the reintro as a part of their hype building process. If they exploded at the beginning it may have messed with the flow of the breakdowns at the end. As to that 2nd chorus, idk wtf that was about 🤣 it dug it. Dudes voices was sick. Very talented band.
Don’t stress too much about the arrangement. It’s prog. It’s fresh that a band isn’t sticking to the conventional intro verse chorus verse chorus bridge breakdown chorus Outro style like we predict music to sound like. What these guys have done with this song is extremely unique. It takes away from the comfort zone we all sit in, and leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting to hear the unexpected. 🤘
You’ve given me a different kind of appreciation for breakdowns, I can’t listen to a breakdown anymore without hearing your voice in the back of my head.
That breakdown going into solo (was it solo?) gave chills, literal chills. And the heaviness hit so hard I got taken aback. So all in all this song is r e a l l y cool
I don't know man, I really like when a band tries to move away a bit from that typical intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus formula, I think that the 2nd chorus or whatever was a nice change of pace and without it, the song wouldn't float as nicely if it was just a heavy smashsmashing all the way thourgh. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, I have seen them 2 times live, both as a support act and the crowd was shredded to pieces before the main band came on stage, so yeah, definetly go see them if you get the chance. :D
Sounds like that intro/re-intro is verse 1 and 2 next to each other. Then the slightly altered bit after it with the different feel is like a pre-chorus. Also that clean chorus is like a chorus extension. Flows well I thought!
Usually I am not that big of a fan of reaction videos since mostly people sit there and look at the video with nothing much going on. You on the other hand actually drop some comments and give your musically sound opinion, which I really enjoy. Also, your facial expressions make this 100x times better, you either look like you finally creamed your pants when a breakdown hits or look genuinely disappointed if there is none (I like to remember the Slaughter to Prevail-video when the first solo hits, haha.) Keep 'em coming!
Polaris have released 3 tracks off their new record so far, and although we already know how incredibly talented and amazing the instrumentalists are, I think the biggest thing to come from this is how amazing the vocals are. We know Jamie can scream and Jake can sing, but we've seen Jamie SINGING CLEANS on Masochist and he sounded amazing (we've heard a little bit of singing on songs like Dusk to Day), and on top of that Jake has added harsh vocals to Landmine and Hypermania. I think this album is going to be AOTY for me, I love these guys and they at the moment cannot set a foot wrong.
Nik I could legit just find new music Only through your reaction videos forever and I'd be okay with that lolol 😂 Love when it drops and ur face totally changes n u get so stoked 😳🤘🏻😂
I think my favourite thing about this song is that they don't blow their load on that first breakdown. Almost every single reaction I've seen seems to have an air of "hmmmm...." about the first drop, but it's all for the greater good in my opinion. Makes that ending hit so fucking hard. This song is an experience.
New Reflections, Hatebreed, Suicide Silence, Silent Planet, Beneath The Massacre, and Bury Tomorrow also dropped. I can't handle this amount of brutalness at once.
That clean part was like the clean part in Deadlocked by Wage War for me, where it kinda just came out of nowhere to serve as a bridge, but it wasn't really one.
Nik: Yes. Everyone watching: Yes indeed. All memes aside, I've never heard anything by Polaris before but I've been hearing a lot of good things from them recently. This was definitely a perfect first song to pick. It's a nonstop hellish ride all the way through.
Idk if you only react if it has a music video, but you should check out one of Loathe's new tracks. Either Broken Vision Rhythm, Heavy Is The Head That Falls With The Weight Of A Thousand Thoughts, or I Let It In And It Took Everything
I loved this one but I understand your take on the structure. They took the metalcore sound and said "na Bruce" to the traditional structure, completely throwing me off which I really enjoyed. Maybe that's the prog fan in me though!
*Yes*
Nik Nocturnal Phrygian scale with a wee bit of blues is cold 🥶. Loving the new Polaris 🙌

And as usual will be asking for Maximum the Hormone - Yoshu Fukushu ^^
Santi Ferrer ^^^^
The breakdown is sick!
Whoever mixes Polaris needs a raise
The mortal coils was great but this is just pure perfection
Same guy who does ABR! Carson Slovak (i believe thats his name) is the dude
I'd do it for free. What a pleasure
Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, who also did the Mortal Coil

That guy is a beast because ABRs new album production sounds GOD TIER. So does this, so that makes sense. That guy DOES need a raise.

I reckon one of the best reactions to the second breakdown
