I’ve been playing guitar for 8 years and you’re entering the best part of learning, it’s so addicting in the beginning and you’ll play for 5-7 hours at a time. Just learn chords and songs at first. Then work on riffs and solos. This is the best time man!
I've played guitar for 3 years now, and the best advice I can give is no matter how many ruts you get stuck in is push through and try getting your pinky as strong as possible because I refused to use my pinky in the beginning and it was only hindering me. So push through, and dont give up
That’s actually really good for a beginner. Most people don’t play like that. I remember when I first started playing guitar I also felt unmotivated, but I didn’t give up. You got this. We all gotta start somewhere❤️🤘🏻
I can't wait to see your progress. Watching people learn guitar is one of the most inspiring things for me as someone who's been playing competently for years. It reminds me of when i was in that skill level and getting better and reinvigorates my will to practice and learn more
You got this man! Guitar hero is way more useful when it comes to the real thing than people give it credit for. It gives you a very good sense of tempo and it helps you stretch your left hand's fingers. Also, I've teached guitar quite a few times in my life and trust me, most people give up way earlier than the level you're at at the moment. You have a solid foundation!! Cheers man, looking forward to the montages of you learning how to downpick!
I'm really amazed to see this actually, and it has lit the spark in me to try and self teach myself the guitar as well. I hope the best for you on your journey and that I can hopefully keep motivated too and grow in it like I am sure you will.
Hey UKOG, as a guitarist who’s been playing for nearly 14 years now, I just want to let you know that it was actually Guitar Hero that got me started with wanting to learn guitar. Don’t be afraid to stream your progress like Randy, it might be a little bit of friendly competition for higher scores as well! My good friend who I used to be in a band with in high school and I always had that friendly competition with each other and we’ve pushed each other to get better every step of the way. We recently put out a video here on RUclips under the project name Vexaria, with a song we wrote called “The Road Ahead”. Speaking for myself, I practice at least three hours a day every day and I’m clumsy as hell, so don’t get discouraged! Can’t wait to see how much you progress. I’ll give it a year and a half before you learn One in its entirety! 😊🤘
I bought my first guitar last year, and basically I know nothing still. Learning a instrument is a beautiful thing. I played trumpet for 8 years and still pick it up time to time but learning something new is exciting I’m excited to see you play more!
Dude this is awesome I actually burned out watching you play guitar hero so this is absolutely perfect. I'm really interested in seeing if rocksmith can help you actually learn guitar and if playing real guitar is something you like as much as guitar hero. I'll definitely be watching mate!
im so excited! i had my guitar for 3 years now and never had the bust of motivation to actually learn for more then a month. but im so happy to start learning with you
I’ve been a fan of guitar hero since I was a kid and I still am to this day. I always wanted to learn guitar, and a few weeks ago, I got a guitar. The same day, I got a pair of kittens. So, I haven’t really touched it. But I told myself, “Hey. You have one now. For whenever you have the drive.” Maybe I could learn a few things from you. UKOG as a teacher would be a great class. ^w^ I love your positive energy, and I hope you continue to enjoy yourself in the days to come. No matter how far or not far you go with learning the guitar, have fun. Enjoy the journey. It seems to me like you’ve just been doing you, and you’ve been doing good, so keep on going! But you, me, and all the others here who are eager to learn, well, we’re all students. So no pressure. We’re all noobs together. Before I ramble any more, I just wanna wish you well. Accomplish the dream we all had growing up with GH, and become a guitar god! Or don’t! Just take care. Keep being you. Later. 🙂
Fair play UKOG, good on ya - I’ve played guitar for 15 years and it’s something you never fall out of love with. Been a fan of yours for years, looking forward to seeing you 100% Through the Fire and Flames 💪
I relate to this video cuz I, too, am burnt out from CH and I also used to play the guitar but lost interest as well. But no matter what you do, make sure you're happy doing it, cuz your mental health comes first
When I was 7, I started playing guitar hero and that inspired me to learn real guitar 8 years later and I’m still in love with playing the guitar Good luck with learning the guitar UKOG I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!!
Hey man, just found your channel today. I’ve been learning guitar for the past couple of months now. It’s honestly so much fun. You got this. It’ll be rewarding in the long run!
AY UKOG! I've been playing guitar for about 10-15 years now (depending on what you consider "playing" lmao) and I'd be more than happy to help you out in any way I can! Just say the word and I'll hit you up on Discord and share some tips and tricks. PS. You might already know me as the guy who made that shitty metal flamingo cover a few years back haha
1st lol. I've been a guitarist for a few years now, and don't worry about a lack of motivation. Every guitarist goes through a phase of neglect. And you have a great guitar for a starter, having HSS pickups allow you to get a variety of tones. Keep rockin' man! 🤘🤘🤘
The one thing that is important when your new, is play the stuff you want to play. I u love metal and want to play that, then do it. When your first starting you don't need to worry about all the scales and chords and theory and such. Just play what you want for a little while so you can keep that motivation until you get somewhere
Yes, I love this! Just remember every great musician started off the same as you, even the god himself (Steve vai) has said how bad he was and a really slow learner. It's all about practise and drive, you've already shown how much drive and passion you have with guitar hero, if you've done it on that you can do it with this too. Can't wait to see your progress mate.
I learned to play guitar and bass with Rocksmith, the best thing about it is that it makes practice fun. My top tip is to try all the lessons, they are the best way to learn how to read the interface. Good luck!
Quick tip: Rocksmith works best with a guitar with dual humbuckers, it will still work with your current guitar, but it has better detection with humbuckers
Really cool! Looking forward to it! If you’ve had that guitar for years, you should probably give it a proper setup if you haven’t already. While there’s a lot stuff you should probably have a repair shop do, stuff like intonation you can do relatively easily at home. Not absolutely necessary, but it’s something to look into if you haven’t
I've been playing guitar for about as long as i've been watching you. It's tough to stay motivated sometimes but it's worth it. Being able to play your favorite songs or just dick around with the guitar is fun.
Pretty looking guitar. If you stick with it I'd be excited to see your progress and the purchasing of new instruments, amps, pedals... ect. As a player of 20 yrs it it always awesome to see people pick up any instrument. Good luck Ukog!
Can't believe this man played One. I like One. In all seriousness, your chord work was good for a beginner and your picking seemed pretty good too. Advice for getting finger positioning and accuracy that really helped me was practicing basic chords and transitioning between them, scales for dexterity (pentatonic is the first that comes to mind) and learning the basics of music theory to be able to have fun improvising and have it sound good. Best of luck George!
Don't get discouraged if you don't see any immediate progress. I've been playing for nearly 13 or so years. And I'm still not very good, but I still enjoy fumbling around. Just play what you enjoy and enjoy playing Rocksmith. Eventually you'll just have the thing on you all the time when you're watching RUclips or whatever, just playing the same songs just purely based on muscle memory that you could barely get through when you were learning. Can't wait to watch your progress.
First thing I did was downtune to drop C and learn SOAD songs. Some are easy, some are challenging, all are great for practicing guitar. Linkin Park as well.
I started practicing guitar 3 weeks ago! Can play a couple of songs, but nothing special. If you ever pick up acoustic I really suggest this one youtuber called Soviet Guitar. His tabs are pretty easy to pick up so I'd say giving him a watch. But either way, good luck to you! Really awesome to hear that you're gonna start a new journey.
I always wondered why UKOG stopped the guitar hero streams, but I am glad it was for the better. I really hope youy achieve your goals and good luck on the streams!!!
I got bored of gh/rb so I switched to real guitar I love it so much. I can also play songs without having someone to chart it for me. So this was a huge step. Once you get the chords down everything gets easier. Solos get easier too! Keep it up!
I think this is a great thing Ukog. It’s not bad to try to venture into new things like, actual guitar. Feeling burnt out from a game seems normal. Happens to most of us. I can’t wait to see more of what’s in store for the channel from here going forward 💯👍🏼 If anything some advice I’d give is to buy new strings if they feel all dirty and old. A set of 9 Gauge or 10’s should do, I’d recommend 9’s though. And when Doing so, to clean the fretboard with some lemon oil from Dunlop. Always have extra guitar pics, not too much just. A good safe amount you’re comfortable with
Hey George , great to see you here aswell! Ive bought my guitar last year during the beginning of the lockdown here in Belgium... ive learned to play through youtube videos/lessons but mainly through Rocksmith! For me personally it helps a lot to improve certain aspects of the guitar en it keeps me engaged to keep on playing due to the fact you can jam along with your favorite tracks ... i also suggest to check the site for the custom dlc tracks the community makes. To guide you through the Rocksmith community , you should ask Chainbrain ( RUclips Twitch ) some stuff because he plays rocksmith as a main thing on his channels! Cheers lad , stay good!
I don't know if this is a tip or advice or whatever, but as a guitar player I'd say if you can eventually master the tones from clean all the way to heavy distorted, then you can become a very flexible player who can play probably pretty much any style on electric guitar. To me that's far more impressive than being able to mindlessly shred all day long. Nothing wrong with shredding, is just if that's only thing you can or want to do then it becomes boring because there's not much emotionally or melodically valuable about just shredding.
I was actually thinking of writing a joke comment along the lines of “SIKE, HE’S FLAWLESSLY PLAYING THE _ONE_ SOLO” and then he actually played the _One_ intro (very nice, by the way) I like how many people are going towards Rocksmith. Who knows if someday I’ll start as well... these kinds of videos surely are pushing me towards it. Wishes for you to become the very best like no one ever was on guitar!
Amazing news! But beware, if you're gonna play Rocksmith on PC, you might run into audio input delays. I *think* this can be mitigated by using an external sound card, though I am not 100% sure.
i hope you know about custom songs. customforge has everything you need to know ;) you can also use a usb interface to reduce latency if you want. or run the rocksmith cable into a wireless system and play with no cable;)
And as a semi-pro guitarist, learn how to read tabs for learning songs. Figure out what songs you wanna learn and what songs have mixed patterns. Keep practicing, take breaks when needed. Don’t give up and I promise you, you will do great. I learned how to play the Psychosocial - Slipknot solo in 3 months of playing
Hey George you probably already know this but I hope you can get the guitar a proper setup! You can take it to a nearby luthier for that. Not only will it help with note detection in RS, your guitar will just sound better and feel better to play overall. Much love!
I really really recommend getting a cheap audio interface + "RS_ASIO" mod for rocksmith instead of the realtone cable. You'll get way less input latency and way better quality that way. If you really get into it you can also pickup a drop pedal so you don't need to retune your guitar midstream to play songs in different tunings, which i'm sure you will since you enjoy metal.
@@Chainbrain It is, but as a streamer he might even already have an interface he could use to get an even better experience from the game. Just trying to inform him that RS_ASIO exists, and is an option.
as a guitar player that plays rings of saturn songs every day, this is actually really good for just starting. Also maybe try finding a better position for your picking hand because the position youre using in the video looks very uncomfortable (at least to me it does lol). Another thing to keep in mind is that when you pick you want mainly only move your wrist, not your entire arm. I saw you were using mostly your wrist in the video, so keep doing that. Also staying relaxed while playing will make you mess up less. Hope this helps!
I will give a little advice, i play guitar hero and regular guitar. From my experience string skipping and alternate strumming is really hard to get used to. keep your hands relaxed and play it the most comfortable way [:
Make sure you take that thing to a store and get it properly set up before you go on your Rocksmith journey! Guitars go super out of shape after many years and start to feel really awful to play for many reasons. It’ll help you a lot I promise.
Great that you said this George. Hope you can continue to move on from the clone hero stuff going forward if you don't enjoy it anymore. I'll try to be there for the rocksmith streams and maybe I can get motivated to pick up my guitar and finally start learning it myself :)
It's nice to see the guy i looked up playing guitar hero starts playing a real guitar I legit needed to give up guitar hero entirely to play real guitar
As someone who leard from rocksmith 7 years ago, please please please do the training games in the guitar cade. They will greatly help with technique, chords, and note recognition
It does make me sad. So many of my fave players are seemingly dropping away from Clone Hero (subsequently at the same time I have less time for it, just bought a home, that’s a big thing for my age in Australia). But if this is what you need to do, so be it. It should be a good ride. Best of luck UKOG, hopefully you come back to Clone Hero one day, but no pressure
Guitar Hero controller vs. Real Guitar: -on a real guitar there are 22 frets and 6 strings, making a total of 132 possible "buttons" to press (frets), whereas the Guitar Hero controller has only 5 buttons -on a real guitar, the frets become increasingly narrower as you ascend the fretboard, making the margin for error increasingly tighter, whereas the Guitar Hero controller's buttons are of uniform width and height, allowing for a much wider margin for error for the player -on a real guitar, to create a note your finger must apply a precise amount of pressure - not too little or else the string will ring dull, not too much or else it will bend the string and sound out-of-tune. Whereas on the Guitar Hero controller the margin of error for pressure is extremely wide, as any amount of pressure that depresses the button will count as proper note activation. -On a Guitar Hero controller, the strum bar is stationary, in a fixed location. You only have to move it up and down to pluck notes. On a real guitar, you have to move the position of your entire hand/arm in order to pluck notes. It's actually not so bad for people with wrist problems if you mainly just move your arm rather than your wrist, but I digress. -on a Guitar Hero controller, strumming is at a fixed height and angle. You can move your hand slightly, but you cannot move the position of the strum bar. Whereas on a real guitar, you can move your hand and forearm into a wide variety of different angles and positions in order to apply different picking techniques. I don't want to go into great detail on this, as there are advantages and disadvantages to this, but essentially this makes the real guitar more complex that the Guitar Hero controller, because certain songs (Cliffs of Dover, notably) require being able to pick precisely and rapidly in different positions, and being able to transition between these positions smoothly and with perfect timing, whereas the Guitar Hero controller makes it unfairly easy by keeping your hand in only one position. Getting fast speed on guitar will rely 80% on your picking hand and 20% on your fretboard hand. If there are any other notable differences, they escape my mind at this moment. Perhaps I will remember them later. I look forward to seeing your progress with time!
my man! you will learn fast! I play guitar and guitar hero and since you got rhythm and hand eye coordination you'll be fine. also I'm sure you can hear how songs go and just start with chords E A G F C D ( most popular songs are literally 4 chords G E C D) or any 4 main chords (sometimes 3) and once you get Comfy with playing those Practice power chords but sounds like you have power chords down like how to play them... it's the ones where you bar the frets and have your middle and ring finger on the 4th and 5th string, i know it's weird but the smallest string the high e is the 1st string and the fattest one is the low E (standard tuning) if you wanna go heavy just take the low E (fat string) tune it to a D and you'll be in "Drop D) and just bar the whole fret and it's a "power chord in one" example everlong is played in drop d for example. but yeah basic stuff start off with hope this helps a little more. don't worry about how to read sheet music (ain't worth the headache you'll be fine) and once you get a feel for the chords and stuff start playing along to songs or record your own riffs you come up with and just jam over those. (that's how I practice my scales just record and doodle my friend) good luck on your journey I am so happy to see you and Randy pick up guitars bevsuse I know you BOTH will be GREAT at them eventually. yes your hands will cramp siemtimes and fingertips will get site and calloused but don't give up keep at it and you'll be rewarded with the feeling of music! I love playing something I've been working on it feels awesome but i honestly can't wait to see your progress and once again you know some good beginner chords and stuff already so getting back into it won't be bad! Good luck and much love brother! love, BOFA from Indiana.
Hello Ukog! I just wanted to say, almost a year ago, I bought a cheap bass with NO prior knowledge. Today, I can play very easily almost any Tool song (AKA Metal prog band, with one of the bests bassists, but I play without pick). If you want, you can become the fcking best, I'm sure. I wish you like Rocksmith, I'll try to stick on stream! Respects from Spain, a bad Guitar Hero player but a good fan!!
You know, guitar is a lot different than guitar hero. But I will say, I've gotten better at playin guitar hero after playing guitar for a while. I think your fast fingers will make you accelerate in progress in guitar playing.
that guitar is beauitful
You’re beautiful
make a band with you as bass and idk who as drums
when is the band

To be fair if ONE thing will transfer from guitar hero to real guitar its finger strength!
Marty Swartz will come in handy through the early ages
Absolutely. Marty is awesome! 👍
Carl Brown is miles better. And he actually plays shit correct.
Next video: man plays Soulless 5 without actually learning it
That’s actually really good for a beginner. Most people don’t play like that. I remember when I first started playing guitar I also felt unmotivated, but I didn’t give up. You got this. We all gotta start somewhere❤️🤘🏻

To guide you through the Rocksmith community , you should ask Chainbrain ( RUclips Twitch ) some stuff because he plays rocksmith as a main thing on his channels! Cheers lad , stay good!
Gotta say, that was actually pretty good. Your skill is way higher than mine. 🎸
6:46 Me. I wanna learn guitar but i have no idea where to start.
if you have a console Rocksmith 2014 is GENUINELY an amazing way to start
you'll be great in no time man. already having the finger dexterity helps a ton
I was actually thinking of writing a joke comment along the lines of “SIKE, HE’S FLAWLESSLY PLAYING THE _ONE_ SOLO” and then he actually played the _One_ intro (very nice, by the way)
I like how many people are going towards Rocksmith.
We have all got to start somewhere my friend, look forward to seeing your progress! What days do you stream now?
gotta start somewhere dude :) best of luck on your journey
gotta start somewhere took me 2 years to make progress good luck man. also work on finger independence. pretty important imo. you've got this
Join my band
And as a semi-pro guitarist, learn how to read tabs for learning songs. Figure out what songs you wanna learn and what songs have mixed patterns. Keep practicing, take breaks when needed. Don’t give up and I promise you, you will do great. I learned how to play the Psychosocial - Slipknot solo in 3 months of playing
I love that Trivium T-shirt, it represents George soo well~!
Metal band in the Lotus Gold-leaf colours^^
Cannot wait to watch this journey.
Realtone cable is fine
Sounds good, heres to a new journey 👍
i used to have a guitar that was almost exactly like that
just seeing this gave me the motivation to pick up my bass
It's nice to see the guy i looked up playing guitar hero starts playing a real guitar
I legit needed to give up guitar hero entirely to play real guitar
As someone who leard from rocksmith 7 years ago, please please please do the training games in the guitar cade. They will greatly help with technique, chords, and note recognition
As a guitar player myself, very cool.
Where have you been
It does make me sad.
Real Guitar:
-on a real guitar there are 22 frets and 6 strings, making a total of 132 possible "buttons" to press (frets), whereas the Guitar Hero controller has only 5 buttons
-on a real guitar, the frets become increasingly narrower as you ascend the fretboard, making the margin for error increasingly tighter, whereas the Guitar Hero controller's buttons are of uniform width and height, allowing for a much wider margin for error for the player
-on a real guitar, to create a note your finger must apply a precise amount of pressure - not too little or else the string will ring dull, not too much or else it will bend the string and sound out-of-tune.
(that's how I practice my scales just record and doodle my friend)
good luck on your journey I am so happy to see you and Randy pick up guitars bevsuse I know you BOTH will be GREAT at them eventually. yes your hands will cramp siemtimes and fingertips will get site and calloused but don't give up keep at it and you'll be rewarded with the feeling of music! I love playing something I've been working on it feels awesome but i honestly can't wait to see your progress and once again you know some good beginner chords and stuff already so getting back into it won't be bad! Good luck and much love brother!
love, BOFA from Indiana.
i think i might do this as well, ive got a stratocaster, i want to learn guitar, i like rhythm games..
Nr 1 tip, Learn the songs you wanna learn! Don't need to go deep with anything, have fun with it and rock out to your favorite jams!
He's back😆😆😆
I got same problem with games. For past 2 years I just don’t want to play games at all. I don’t know what happened. Just stoped at 1 day
Awesome! Looking forward to it
i have a basic £100 electric guitar and it’s not great but i had a go with it and i kinda gave up. :)
Im so glad you got inspired by randy to play guitar, It's no guitar hero but you do what you enjoy and dont let any 7 year olds ruin it. rock on!
"maybe my love for this game will grow again" It doesnt :(
This is frickin hype, lets go.
You know, guitar is a lot different than guitar hero. But I will say, I've gotten better at playin guitar hero after playing guitar for a while. I think your fast fingers will make you accelerate in progress in guitar playing.
Tbh I recently stopped playing clone hero because I’ve just seemed to find it boring. Everyone else that I know who plays it is getting bored as well.
