sanpt7777 I totally understand the friend you're describing. I happen to like the whole motif behind the Melvins being different but not in an annoying way, just interested and driven to do things they find appealing. (Weird notes, chords, keys, etc.) I hope to see them live, they are playing in CA in the near future.
The challenge with Melvins compositions is all in the rhythm. You only need minor knowledge of the fretboard to play most stuff on Ozma, but you'd better have a good memory.
actually the main riff is pretty tricky to play on guitar is simple yet very confusing, if u have small fingers playing it in bass is basically impossible
I love Buzz's playing style so much. When I first picked up guitar in the late 90's, his style along with James Hetfield's were the ones I tried to really emulate. It's hard to describe, "percussive" and "economical" are the two best descriptors I've ever been able to come up with.
@@jtsotherone yeah you are correct. I rewatched it and I was being overly critical. I was probably in a bad mood or something. If ur just putting shit out there its already better than 99.9% of people.
It's his signature EGC guitar. Actually the guy who worked with TB back in the day came in with the inventer of the EGC and helped him with the making of these great guitars. There cool. I had the tyranny. Very rad but not for everybody.

Hate to say it, but it was probably the name for me. I remember listening to Megadeth, Metallica: cool names, and that's just ones starting with M, lol. "Melvin" sounds like a name the jocks might call me before beating me up. Even punk bands, Clash, Dead Kennedys (my favorite name), Misfits, Bad Brains, Black Flag. Why would any self-respecting band call themselves Melvins? Sounds like a Buddy Holly cover band.😂

+gakfas Ignore Brian Smith, he's just chatting shit. With that being said, Buzz is Jewish, and for someone like him to tour in the middle east would be extremely dangerous
Im a big fan of the dead, and it's super cool to see him using a TB like Garcia in the mid-late 70s but the tone and sound of the guitar couldn't be more different. Garcias notes were crisp, clean, and we're distinctly perforated from one another. Buzzo on the otherhand uses heavy distortion, it sounds like he's plugged into a transformer or something, the sound is very electrical and each note kind of vibrates into the next. Good stuff.
He looks like his guitar sounds I love the Melvins. I heard the song “Night Goat” while tuning into radio stations of the coast of California (I was a Radioman in the navy around 94) They constantly put out music

I learned how to play Honey Bucket 10 years ago thanks to this video.
