@@Blurrish what's ur favorite 2019 movie's
This was the role for Taron Egerton. He can sing Elton, looks like him and captures him to a tee.
Barely looks like him
Are you?
I have to respectfully disagree here. While it's a good movie, he doesn't sing all that much like Elton at all. I wasn't a huge fan of the way he sang these songs. But people liked the movie so that's all that matters
@@armandarmand8691 eh not really.
@@mannyrodriguez3933 Exactly and yes I agree he doesn't sound exactly like Elton but I kind of prefer it that way tbh. I can watch this version and the OG version with Elton and get something different enough to appreciate them both. Its kind of why I didn't like Bohemian Rhapsody (which still feels weird to say considering how much I love Queen) because they just copied the songs and performance to the point where I'd rather just watch the OG songs and not have to sit through the movie.
I personally like the slowed down beginning. It’s like the show realization he’ll be okay.

Feels like he making it up on the spot which always sounds slow

PeupeuMcGee Sorry, I mistyped. I was worn out that day, so my brain wasn’t even close to 100%.
PeupeuMcGee Cheers!
Thats actually really interesting
I would have really loved if they recreated the video, but still it looked pretty nice
this hits you SO hard after all the heartbreaking moments in the film
It really does
When they hit the first chord in the beginning, I literally yelled, "Awwww!"
Yeah
Maja when I saw this I nearly cried and said “that’s where he got it from” and silently said “I’m. Still. Standing. better than I ever did.” As He said the chorus.
I was waiting for this song for the whole movie, and when it came out I cried a little, because of the emotion of the song, and because my sister (actually my best friend with whom I have never fought) and I have history with this song.
It was beautiful
I love how you can tell Taron Egerton is barely containing his excitement throughout this. It's like he's ticked off a bucket list item, he's so happy.
Taron has been massive fan of Elton since his teen years so yeah it does feel like he's putting 110% to this role
@@Bjork4sand now he's blessed enough to call Elton John, one of his friends to a degree. This is probably the greatest moment of his life.
If I had a nickle for every time he’s sung this in a movie I’d have two nickles, which I know isn’t a lot but it’s funny that it’s happened twice

It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic
To be honest, I don't think it was a good performance! I don't see Elton, I see Taron! In Bohemian Rhapsody I saw Freddie, and forgot it was Rami!

In my opinion, the ending to this movie is one of the most motivational movie moments in history. It shows how everyone can move forward and recover from a dark spot in your life.
During the entire movie, I thought they would end with candle in the wind. Then he started singing this and I immediately burst out in tears. Some people don’t like musicals, but what I took from this is that he was searching for love and validation from everyone. He just really needed to love HIMSELF.

I don't think enough people really understand how incredible Egerton was in that film. It arrived after all the "Bohemian Rhapsody" hype and almost immediately disappeared in the wake of that and it's a damn shame because Egerton really deserved more recognition for his performance.
I'm a huge Queen fan, but Rocketman was so much better as a biopic, and Egerton was far superior to Rami Malek.
How in the world Taron didn’t even get an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actor” will always be a mystery…
I also think this is absolutely the best “biopic” movie based on a singer, I like how surprisingly mature it is
He won other awards for the best actor and the Oscar’s are a f-ing joke sometimes. Shawshank won 0 Oscar’s and look at it
Those awards are all bias garbage anyway.
It almost feels like the opposite of the Queen one that came out around the same time, but in a good way. Love them both but this one is at turns dark and grounded with moments of magical realism and doesn't shy away from heavy stuff where the Queen one's more of a fun romp through Queen's history but less fantastical in terms of the musical numbers.
@@charleshoppner4111 well I promise if Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t such a monster success the whole “singer biopic” genre wouldn’t be as big as it is now (this movie was in development since the early 2000’s but I still think I’m correct). However, when it comes to biopics I was always a fan of them being R. Because if *anyone* (including myself, and probably you as well) decided to tell their life story, it’d definitely be R, too. For biopics, you can also go deeper into personal issues with an R rating, something you can’t really do with a PG-13 rating. You don’t need to make a movie R to make it a masterpiece (look at The Empire Strikes Back, WALL-E, and the original Beauty and the Beast) but I definitely think the best biopics tend to be R and they really benefit from that.
It's always politics, the Academy does it in a certain way and they likely don't think Taron's worked enough or had a storied enough career to receive a nomination let alone a win.

I like how this song basically sums up the entire movie
It sums up Elton John
It's interesting that this song came out seven years before he went to rehab in real life. My only dislike about this movie is that it took some serious liberties with Elton's real life, but since he obviously supports and produced it I guess it isn't that big of deal.

1:40 I absolutely love that little piano line right there. It stuck out to me the first time I watched it. It isn’t in the original song but it’s a fantastic echo of the vocal line just before it.

With this it was motivated behind Tarron getting into the mindset of a real person during the darkest times of his life, in Sing it was him getting into the mindset of the fictional son of a fictional criminal who happens to also be a gorilla. This song hits hard after watching the heartbreak and pain he went through for so many years. This movie gave me new respect for Elton and the guy who plays him in the movie. Elton is one of the hardest roles to play because he's a real person, who dealt with serious struggles. Trying to portray that is difficult. He had to be Elton while not completely being Elton... Very sad that he Will fight against great actors at the Oscar like Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale, and the other potential names. He's great here, even more than Rami Malek last year
Yeah, he has way harder competition than Rami Malek. But I dont think Joaquin will win as he doesn't really want it and what's the fun in giving it to someone who might not even show up. Christain bale has a case, but I haven't heard crazy buzz about his performance (yet). I really hope he wins though

I’m so glad I watched kingsmen, otherwise I would’ve missed out on the treasure trove of talent that is taron egarton
The music video with Taron is amazing but for me, it’s the slow intro. It works so well and completely changed the song for me, as if I was listening to the lyrics for the first time. Taron basically improvised the walk from the rehab room to the door of the clinic on the day of the shoot because it wasn’t shot during principal photography and they didn’t have a choreographer on set. To me, his walk is perfect: vulnerable yet playful, melancholic and energetic at the same time. The ending of the film basically feels like Dexter Fletcher and Taron Egerton are handing Elton’s story back to him. A perfect transition!
