Been playing the hell out of this since it become available to play. It's been alot of fun, definitely gives me gears of war/darktide type feels, but alot more swarmy. Also can be real hard at time, in which i appreciate the challenge. Honestly, don't really think the trailers do the game justify, kinda one of those ones you just gotta play it to understand it.
Would like to recommend you guys check out Fear and Hunger and maybe it's sequel F&H: Termina. Worm Girl has a good video titled "What actually happened in the dungeons of Fear & Hunger" would highly recommend that to check out, she also has one for the sequel. Omni World has some shorts about quick lore of the characters, NPCs, and enemies
Do you know what it would be nuts? a gears of war horde mode style not only of 3 space marines, but what about bringing 10 CADIANS guardsmen? lesser men full of lasguns ready to fry the enemy?
10 Cadians vs a tyranid invasion? As gritty as Cadians are, that's literally nothing. Most battles for the Imperium involve hundreds of thousands to millions of guardsmen PER BATTLE. 10 Cadians would probably die to a single Carnifex or Zoanthrope, nevermind something like a Hive Tyrant or Swarmlord. Those things tear space marine squads apart unless they're named plot-armored ones like Titus.
@@Madheim777 Doesn't make a difference. 10 of anything short of primarch/custodes gets rolled by a tyranid invasion. You'd just run out of ammo even if you don't get overwhelmed.

It's worth noting that in most cases a single Tyranid stands zero chance of taking down a single Space Marine, but the Tyranids attack in massive hordes, and if there are enough of them the can take out a Space Marine just through sheer overwhelming numbers. But even then a Space Marine will not go down easily and likely will die surrounded by a mountain of enemy corpses. A single Space Marine is very much a one-man army in their own right. In most universes it's the non-humans that are the sort to lay waste to entire armies alone. Not in 40K. In 40K the Space Marines are those army-annihilating monsters instead. It takes a lot for anyone/thing to go one-on-one with a Space Marine and actually have any chance of winning. Though I'm by no means a lore expert on 40K. My only real experience with Warhammer is via Vermintide 2 & Mordheim: City of the Damned....which are both part of the Warhammer Fantasy universe rather than 40K itself.
The tyranids are less of an "enemy" as they are a force of nature. All of the forces you see on a single planet, as many billions or trillions as there might be, are like a single pinky finger of a giant hand reaching across the stars. Their numbers are literally uncountable, and are known to use tactics like simply throwing so many flying bioforms at an anti-aircraft turret that it literally melts its barrel or they clog it with so many bodies that it can't fire anymore. So long as the swarm recovers at least as much biomass as it used in an attack, it's worth it. They're far more than any one faction or race can handle, with the possible exception of Chaos or the Necrons (both of which the Tyranids avoid fighting because they just can't eat them). Usually by the time a planet sees the spores falling on a planet, it's already over and the only solution is to Exterminatus the whole planet. They send gene-stealers years or decades ahead of their invasion to prepare it by impersonating or infecting high governmental figures to break down defenses from the inside. The only human who has had a solution for the Tyranids was Kripmann, who preemptively used Exterminatus on planets in the path of the swarm - and the Inquisition determined that he was too extreme and excommunicated him. Short of the Emperor being reborn or some last ditch alliance between the races, humans are doomed to be consumed by the Tyranids.
@@marekmiaszewicz3296 A lictor as well could quite easily kill anything short of a Chapter Master or Primarch. Normal Space Marines are literally playtoys for them in the lore. A single lictor can take down an entire planet's government by itself.

Hell, the Carnifex is to me more like a Tank or other combat vehicle than any sort of infantry. Also, I'm far more familiar with Warhammer Fantasy than 40K. I'm starting to look into 40K itself more though. As it stands I'm more familiar with stuff like the Skaven than Tyranids.
The game has exceeded my expectations, even without being a WH40K fan, it stands on its own. It won't be game of the year, but it is nevertheless an excellent game, and very fun.

you have something similar in DarkTide. you play either as an Ogryn, a Zealot, a Psyker or a Tactic guardsman.

you should read novels or see the animations, the warhammer 40k universe is very rich. also has RTS games very good or other action games as well.
