    Join us for our first sailing aboard the Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection Evrima. This is the first in a series of 8 or 9 videos detailing our trip.
    On this episode, we travel to Fort Lauderdale and have a very good dinner at a small italian restaurant. After a good night's sleep ,we head to breakfast at Joe's Cafe. We decided to wait until 2:30 to board as we did not want to wait in any lines. Boarding took about 10 minutes total, and most of that was the walk through the terminal to the ship. We met our personal concierge, had lunch in the pool house, and dinner at Talaat Nam. There was probably music and dancing at the sail away, but this took place at 11:00 pm. We were in bed!!

    Darren and Johnetta, enjoyed your first day on the Ritz Carlton ship and looking forward to see more days ahead. Johnetta, we enjoyed your VLOGS and trip with your Mother but sorry for the unfortunate port cancellations due to bottom fouling. We are leaving for the Regent Explorer and 14 night Japan cruise of 28 March 2023 next Sunday and your filming helped show the ship.
    We were on the Regent Voyager in the Baltic in August 2022 and met in the dining room. Gene and Marla. Excellent food there as we both agreed. Did Seabourn Odyssey Vancouver to Papeete in October past. Keep up the good work!

      @@DJTravels Seabourn Odyssey trip from Vancouver to Tahiti was wonderful. 27 days and plenty to see. You were wondering about the food. Highest quality, like Regent Voyager but not as expansive a menu as Regent offers. It was very good, service excellent and ship was "shipshape and Bristol fashion", as they say! looking forward to Japan voyage.

      We plan to do a comparison video after the series ends, but overall, we actually liked the Ritz a little better. They had a few miscues, which we will explain as we go along, but service was comparable, and Ritz really knocked it out of the park with the food. Price wise, Regent is more economical (if you can say that at all about a luxury cruise).

    So happy to find your channel, yes, I “liked” & subscribed 😅, we are avid cruisers and have sailed to Eastern and Western Mediterranean multiple times via The mega ships on Royal Caribbean, However, we are looking forward to embarking on and exploring the yacht community of cruising, quite a different experience I see. Question please, is the alcohol included in the fare as well??

    • @DJTravels
      @DJTravels  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, the alcohol is included. There is a big difference in the atmosphere between the big and small ships. If you are looking for a calmer cruise, and don't need loud music and crowds, this might be for you!

  • @KimmyQueen

    Hold champagne glasses by the stem or the very bottom. Not by the body because you warm the champagne. It would have been cool to arrive a little more tidy and less casual to the cruise. With that said, it is always nice to see normal people in luxury travel.

    • @DJTravels
      @DJTravels  4 месяца назад

      Yes, we were hurrying so I just grabbed the champagne the easiest way possible.
      Regarding our dress, we tend to dress very casual on any day involving travel. So whether we are boarding a cruise, luxury train, first class flight, etc. we will be dressed very casually. If I am the one paying, it is up to the business providing the service to impress me, not the other way around. If there is a dress code, I always comply. But I make no apologies for being comfortable when I can!!

    The dining venues seem to be very loud, especially Talat Nam. I can't tell whether it is because you don't have a furry thing on your microphone or whether the restaurant, etc. is simply noisy. We take care to dine in quiet surroundings when possible and will be looking forward to learning about the noise level.

    I am not that familiar with your channel yet, but I would like to suggest that you show the food, if you like, but don't eat it on camera. It also takes up too much percentage of time on your video. Again, the background noise from plates, etc. is distracting. I’ve heard horrible things about this Ship/ Yacht. First of all it’s about 60 feet longer than some of the most visible and popular privately owned yachts on the Med and Caribbean.
    So Ritz goal was to make people feel like they are on chartered yacht of your own. Many reviews show no concierge service or very very late , broken jacuzzi ‘s , poor food. Waiting over 15 minutes for dining service to begin. I have to say the Ritz has failed miserably and really needs to think about stopping this cruise and regrouping. It may be way too late but they have to try. Restart with all new staff that are up to the mark, new menus, make sure every thing is working . It’s unacceptable for even one thing to be broken if guests are on board. Make it look and feel like you’re on a private yacht not a mediocre cruise. I mean I think there are ferry’s from New York City to Fire Island that provide better service.

    • @DJTravels
      @DJTravels  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, we had heard bad things also. However it turned out to be very enjoyable. We sailed about 6 months after their initial cruise, and there were some hiccups, but nothing major. I have not seen any reviews since the early days, so I can’t speak about how it is today.
      Our food was great, service impeccable, but there was a broken jacuzzi.
