@@RoysGarage808it went exactly as your video showed. Your step by step tutorial was right on. Unlike the fuel filter for the 2.4 in my model, Toyota made the lower ball joint very easy for your average shade tree mechanic. I got to say I haven't had much trouble with this Toyota, but finding a( step by step to the point) video like yours was very refreshing and it doesn't get any better than that. Thanks again.👍
Great video, down to basics to get back on the road. 👌😁 It’s worth mentioning that this is for a 5-lug wheel Tacoma. 6-lug wheel Tacoma’s (Pre-Runners and 4x4’s) have a different suspension. Some part stores list 4 Wheel Drive and 2 Wheel drive, but this is misleading because Pre-Runners are 2 Wheel Drive but have the same suspension as a 4x4. The wheel lug count is the best way to tell the suspension type you have. 😎👍
This is one of the best explained with camera angles& not that long but very informative, I’m only wondering about the torque specs, other than that keep up the great videos , thanks
Thanks Roy, this was very easy to follow. What about torque specs? This is going to save me $$ have to wait for the monsoon season to stop in NE Pennsylvania though. my 5 spd Base Toyo Tacoma has 200K on the little beastie! I will let you Know How I made out This will be my first time.
There’s probably most likely torque specs but unfortunately i do not know them, I’m sure you can find it on the manufacturer’s website! Let me know how it goes and Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@RoysGarage808 I think I have the same problem, when re-connecting the outer tie rod to the hole in the ball joint at 6:05, the bolt keeps spinning and you can’t get the nut to tighten....do you have to smash the tie rod down into the hole first to make it snug or is the tie rod bad too?
@@josel.martinez6700 I would say try and (gentle) pound the tie rod into the spindle so it doesn’t spin and then try to tighten it up. If it’s a new tie rod, it’s usually no trouble but if an old one, it would be worn out. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
The best, today, is manufacturer. Now days the aftermarket parts for ball joints are not the greatest. I would suggest that if you’re planning on keeping the vehicle for a while more, get the manufacturer ones but if you’re not, then buy an aftermarket one. For this video I went with Quick Steer part# K90261, it’s an affordable brand that works but not the same quality as the original. Hope that’s helps and thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
In terms for importance, they’re both important, not one more than the other. The way I determine which on to change is whichever one is worn out, if they’re both worn out then I change both, if it’s o my one side then I only change that side. It’s not like the tie rods where it’s good to change both at the same time, you just change the ball joints as they wear out. I hope that answers your question and thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Which pin are you talking about? Is it the carter pin? If so then just get a wrench and turn it, you just have to break it off since you’re going to change it anyway. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
That was the best video on wrenching I've seen in a long time. Thanks for the tutorial. Got to do mine tomorrow
Let me know how it goes and thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

I have a question on a part that holds the spendal to the outer control arm. It's a bolt that holds the spendal so it don't turn
I’m sorry but I don’t quite understand what you’re asking, what exactly are you asking about the bolt that holds the spindle?
@@RoysGarage808 I think I have the same problem, when re-connecting the outer tie rod to the hole in the ball joint at 6:05, the bolt keeps spinning and you can’t get the nut to tighten....do you have to smash the tie rod down into the hole first to make it snug or is the tie rod bad too?

Thanks Roy, makes me feel like I could do that myself. Is the upper ball joint much different?
It’s fairly different, the upper ball joint is a part of the upper control arm so you have to replace it all together. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you Roy

Is lower ball joint the most important to change out? Or both upper and lower
