Man can you please bring roadkill back on to Motor Trend please I really want to see you some other projects back on here I miss Freiburger and Finnegan
I always go for the GTOs as long as they're not over done or extremely outrageous. Also as long as there is not another car that is just as good as the GTO so I'm hoping that the GTO gasser wins
The suspension is mainly the leaf springs which the axle assemblies are mounted to then the leaf springs are mounted to the frame or body or both. Shock absorbers are used to smooth out the ride
Heck yeah the GTO has won, if I come across the toy I'll get it well because I'm obsessed with GTOs especially the 1966 Pontiac GTO my favorite year of the goat and my dream car too.
The D-Rex guy is lying about building that truck. It was built by an awesome custom shop named GodMudders that started in alsip, il then moved to San Pierre Indiana. They built it, not him, he may have purchased it from them, or had them build it, but he did not. I as a teenager saw then building it around 20 years ago or so. I delivered parts for a Napa store, and they were one of our clients.
Just an idea, if you're all traveling this distance for this competition maybe you should think of stopping at some of the children's hospitals along the way. There's allot of children who are cooped up hospitals fighting for their lives. You all could make a world of happiness for them. Just by setting it up, so if nothing else they could watch you all parade through the parking lot while they watch from their windows. Bringing life sized cars that resemble the very toys they play with! It'd be something spectacular to them I'm sure!
What's a 720? I know a lot of cars mostly classics and a lot about how they work but not many engine names. So if a 720 is a modern car or engine then i probably don't know what it is.
This Chicago show was poor. They had like 20 demons with very little done to them. Yea they are 100thousand but they already have a hot wheels demon. Someone brought a old grand Cherokee with nothing done to it. Where are the rules? Out of all the cars I seen 5 maybe that were even worth the 1:20min drive. It was also hot as 🔥out. Fans should be the judges. Forgot to mention they had things inside Walmart that were nice for any fan. The amount of hot wheels they had available were kool I guess but still not really worth the time really. I left the show inside and out in about a hour wishing there was something more to leave with.
My Grandpa has the ‘57 Corvette :)
So proud! ❤️ (1:08-1:39)
He has a beautiful car. Hope that he gives you rides in it!
So proud of my Grandpa and his beautiful car. (1:08-1:39) 🚗 ❤️
I love the DeLorean Monster Truck.

Some sweet cars!!!
All are beautiful in special the blue combo ;)
I still have a bunch from when I was a kid
Drex owner: its got a 4 link suspension
Camera man: shows a leaf spring.....
Lol
You don't understand what suspension links are. They are nothing to do with the shock absorbers, they are what attaches the axle to the chassis.
The suspension is mainly the leaf springs which the axle assemblies are mounted to then the leaf springs are mounted to the frame or body or both. Shock absorbers are used to smooth out the ride
Really cool, i love hot wheels 👌
Thank's ✌️
I wish I enjoy Chicago hot wheels show
The extreme sacrilege that is the DeLorean/Blazer combo...
I agree with it winning but dam there were some others just as good. Congratulations to the GTO owner.
That 327ci Vette though. Debedebedebedebedibedee!! Twiki!
Me and my Gasser Model A was like in it three times real fast. Cool
Wish my car was done. Would love to make it hotwheels worthy
Just beautiful!
I wish my car could be one

Straight-axle mystery
A 1965 GTO QUARTER-MILE CAR IS REBORN
By Matthew Litwin from the August 2007 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines
SHARE
“We know that it was raced back in the day,” says Mike Zettle. “The individual my brother, Steve, bought the GTO from had found it in upstate New York, and all he had really wanted was the engine and transmission. He was going to scrap the rest of it; he thought nobody would want a ’65 GTO with an Econoline straight axle.”
Steve, age 24, and Mike, 32, are serious gearheads who love fast Pontiacs. Their father, Rich, owned a 1965 GTO, just before he was called to serve in Vietnam, along with his friend, Mike Gagliardi. Before embarking, Gagliardi quickly sketched out a drawing of a straight axle ’65 GTO with the logo “Zettle Bros. Speed Shop.” Said Mike, “Growing up, my brother and I would always see that picture hanging in his shop all the time.”
In the spring of 2002, the two brothers were driving through a nearby town when they saw the nose of what they knew was a ’65 GTO, sitting high in the air, out of the corner of their eyes. Another lap around the block brought them face-to-face with the object of their affections. Thinking the engine was no longer in place, they quickly discovered that it featured the aforementioned axle. Under the hood sat a Chevy 454, attached to a four-speed transmission.
To the best of their knowledge, the GTO originated out of the Syracuse area. “According to the VIN tag, the car left the factory in white paint and a red interior. In fact, when we purchased it, the original paint was still on it, with several minor touchups throughout,” said Mike. “If there had been any markings on it back in the day, they were long gone by the time we found it. A lot of work had already been done over the years. Race seats were already in place, the worn door panels were there, and the back seat was long gone. For some reason, they used some kind of torch to cut the speakers out of the rear shelf. We’ve been inquiring about its history, but it looks like it was raced locally on weekends. A few people have come forward thinking that they had seen this car, but some of the details just don’t match up.”
They began work almost straight away, starting with fixing the body, performing all the work themselves. “It was in tough shape, and someone had done some frame work,” recalls Mike. “We welded in some patch panels on the front fenders and the floor, but we had to install a new floor in the trunk and new quarters-the left side in particular was all rot. Surprisingly, the rockers were in great shape. We live about 60 miles from our hero, Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick, so we were inspired to keep it as a straight-axle racer. Having not been around in those days, our dad Rich helped out quite a bit, telling us what was right or wrong for the period.”
Gone is the Chevy big-block, and in its place is a 1970 Pontiac 400 bored .030 over. The cylinder heads are 143s, from a’67 Catalina, which aid in the 10:1 compression ratio. The engine package includes a roller cam and Pete Jackson “noisy” timing gears. The intake is a Wenzler high-rise with two Holley 390cfm four-barrel carburetors, topped off by a Hilborn bug catcher.
“The transmission is a Turbo 350 with a B&M 3500 rpm stall converter in it. We kept the Ford Econoline straight axle, and the rear is a Dana 60 with a 4.11:1 gear set. Disc brakes are on all four corners. Other than the machine work, we did the rest of the engine and transmission work as well,” said Mike. “The tires are 4-inch-wide Pro-Tracs up front and Radir Wheel 10-inch cheater slicks in back, all mounted to Cragar S/S wheels.”
The brothers didn’t want vinyl lettering on the car. “We took the sketch to my dad’s friend, Bill Foust, who was at the strip when these things were running. He knew exactly what we were looking for. All the lettering was done freehand, and the logo on the door is real 14-karat gold leaf. It’s probably the most expensive set of Pontiac doors,” laughs Mike.
The GTO was completed in 2004, just in time for the 150th anniversary of the founding of their town, Forreston, Illinois, where they debuted it. “We had some issues along the way,” recalls Mike. “It was overheating, and we discovered that the aftermarket water pumps are not quite right-we needed to create a spacer plate. With the different heads, we had to really adjust the timing, and jetting dual quads was a bit of work. We have not raced it yet, but we have run it on the street. Byron Dragway is only 16 miles from our house. We’re still trying to discover more of its past.”
