hello montessori friends! i hope you enjoy this video on the pros and cons of montessori education. let me know what you think below. also, have you ever attended a montessori school or taught at one? do you have children that attend montessori schools? i would love to know!
I love Montessori and I was wondering do the schools go to high school level? And would it be beneficial to send your child to a Montessori middle and high school
Chelsea, I’m going to simplify a really long answer haha. I think a GOOD Montessori school is the best form of schooling. And what makes it good of course is not the Montessori but the teachers who create, shape, and share the curriculum (and the resources the teachers have to do so). There are some Montessori high schools but they are not mainstream or necessarily “easy” to find. I think K-8 is more impactful than 8th-12th. I hope this helps! If you have any more questions please feel free to email me. My email is on my about me page. Be well. 💕❤️
I’m currently am having to decide (by August 2nd) if I want my son to go to the new Montessori school in our area. He will be the oldest kid in the class, and he already thinks the place he goes now is for babies. (He’s 6). I’m so torn
Oh goodness! That’s not a lot of time at all. Follow your womanly and motherly intuition. And if it doesn’t pan out, the decision is not irreversible. If you have any further questions about Montessori education please feel free to send me an email. It’s in my about me section! Be well. Sending love, light, and discernment your way! ✨💕
I work at a Montessori preschool and I find it more strict and rigid than a traditional preschool. I love the lessons they have, but they make children do work time for 3hrs and I believe that’s too long. Most of the children don’t want to work that long and follow so many steps. It’s also too much cleaning for them. I feel like they spend most of the time cleaning spills and what not. I think the children need to be playing outside more at that age.
It definitely depends on the school. My old school had longer work times but the students were given plenty of outdoor time, while still receiving lessons, having independent choice work, and practical life skills. As with all things, results may vary. ✨❤️
I'm no longer a teacher. However, I definitely felt "cult-like" vibes throughout my entire time in Montessori schools. I think it's almost impossible to be part of such a (North American wise) small program and NOT come off as a cult. AND, at the same time, when I become a parent I still want my child to be in a Montessori school until they reach high school and would send my child to either of the schools at which I previously taught. It's one of those things where I believe ultimately the pros outweigh the cons.

The teachers get paid peanuts...
It definitely depends on the school!
I've got to say if you goal was to make this sound like some sort of weird educational cult then you've succeeded.
