This vid brings me piece
Its a good tear down, but there is 2 pieces I wanted to see removed for custom painting.
Brilliant! Thank you very much for making this.
Your welcome 🙏
Thx 😊 needed to clean some dew off trigger
Thank soo much u really saved my skin there
My buttons have been very sticky ever since I purchased mine, now my RB button is hit or miss with inputs. I appreciate this video so thank you sir. 🫡
@@focusedking5275 🙌❤️ you are welcome. I need to make an updated one to be fair.
Great Video! I'm at the same spot most people seem to get stuck the analog sticks seem like they wont come off. I really cant afford to break this controller its the 5th one I got from sending them back to Microsoft and this one has not a single issue with buttons sticking or stick drift like the other four.
Did anyone who commented ever get the analog sticks off?
The only thing I can say and it may sound wierd. But gentle force. Its screwed on. And much like many things are screwed tight at first.
Had to open the case from my controller that lil metal section on the d pad went under the down button ... once i pulled it out it made the the bottom d pad to stop sticking
The rubber grip parts of my controller is coming loose on both sides, like I can peel it back a fair amount and look inside the controller up by the triggers. It seems like the rubber is stretched or something, it doesn't want to go back in place, and I don't know how to fix it. The controls work just fine, it's just a comfort and OCD kind of thing
On the elite 2?
Aliexpress get a new case change it i did the same 20e
Hey Dutch I have an elite series 2 my trigger is sticking so i bought the small torx i have T4-T10 and none of them seem to fit you said it was a T6 I am noticing inside the screw there is a small pin in the center does this require a special torx set for controllers this is the 1st screws after taking the front plate off btw? great vid by the way ty. Edit they do have special tools i found them they have to be hollow point torx
yeah sorry - hollow points sometimes! some don't have hollow point screws - its a weird mix! - you can get cheap kits online!
@@WanderingDutch yep I ordered a pair ty for responding
Are it’s internals better than standard Xbox controllers. I’ve seen hella people complain that the elite breaks very easily.
Yes far more robust. It has small support pillars internally.
They're definitely built stronger, but it pales in comparison to the engineering of the dualsense edge.
Bro what should I do if my joy stick aren’t unscrewing I’ve been at this for a while and still can’t
Sometimes you need to apply a little more pressure to them. Not too much. But enough.
@@WanderingDutch so I tried it but it either just clicks the joystick down so idk if I should turn it really lightly to where the stick doesn’t move around everywhere or just keep on trying the same
I have the same issue and I’m scared I’ll break it, did you ever get it
@@hondamerlin968 gentle force is all i can suggest keep the pressure on but don't "yank" it haha.
where the heck can i buy a replacement battery for the elite 2 controller. looked everywhere with no luck.
Your likely only to ever find them on ebay from Chinese sellers.
Do you know which parts are involved in controlling bluetooth? Mine stopped working after I disassembled my controller to clean it.
There are 2 little cables that clip into tiny circles.
How do I get to the battery if you don’t mind doing another tear down video for people who want to replace the internal battery please
Yeah sure
How are you just twisting the joysticks, my shits are impossible
They can be difficult at first. It's a fine line between force and too much force.
Only try at your own risk, I've had one of the sticks snap when removing.
To replace the shell/bumpers/triggers you won't need to remove the sticks. Only if you want to change the buttons.
@@WanderingDutch yeah idk dude
Initial screws are actually T9
Yea i know - old video, but i had a question. Can you install led lights under the buttons to make them light up in the dark?
Yes
@@WanderingDutch Then I very humbly ask you to TEACH ME BRO!!! I also have a weird thing going on where if I try to play Stanfield with my elite 2, some of the buttons don't work, but if I use my standard controller that came with the series s, everything is fine?
Do you know what the 2 wires that connect between the 2 different boards are for?
Usually for both the Rumble and the trigger rumble between the boards to interact with the inputs of the button presses etc.
Will removing the warranty tapes on the screws mess up a warranty that I have on the controller?
Yes removing warranty tapes voids warranty. That goes for any modifications or self repairs. If its within warranty. Send it for repair first. If it isn't or if its a Modification then at your own risk continue.
@Henry Jacobs you answered your own question. Will removing a "Warrenty" sticker void warranty 🤣 its literally what they put them on for
Hey man where did you get the tools to open the controller? Because I’m trying to open it with a screwdriver and it’s not budging
Amazon
my xbox controller just won’t connect or power on it will have the white charge button but won’t turn on
How long have you had the controller for?
If its just a battery issue that is easily solved - thankfully the internal battery is easily replaceable - and getting to it doesn't require taking the sticks off.
If its a sync issue try connecting it with the cable directly to the console and see if that synchronises it again.
What size a the screws the small one on the back plate what hold the pedal chips ??
T6
@@WanderingDutch thank you so the other bigger ones to remove the middle body are the t8 yes ?
Would it be possible to remove the joystick base and put it on a different controller, with the tension mechanism still working, or would I also have to desolder the whole mechanism?
Have to de-solder everything.
Ah that suck. Appreciate the reply though.@@WanderingDutch
How did you take off the anolog sticks? I keep trying to take them off but they are too strong
Gently keep turning to the left but with a little force. Not too much but it will loosen and unscrew. Have to be careful however too much force can break it. (I have before).
I made a little tool for it by finding a thin piece of metal putting some curve to it so it goes under and taking a dermal to notch it out (like a wrench, it has 2 flat spots for something like this).
I still can’t get the anolog sticks unscrewed
@@SnackAttack1985 I found a fix you just have to twist to the left harder. It’s very hard but possible
Saved me from ruining my controller lol was about to chink it into the abyss😂😂 life saver homie
So my left analog clicks down and works fine, but it doesn't click how its supposed to. Its like a way softer click.
Do you often press down on the stick for inputs? (Do you have it mapped as an input for most games)? If so that's just the stick broken in essentially through use - the analog module is actually quite small and basic in every controller - in theory it wouldn't take much to break any of them through prolonged use - as long as the input still works as intended I wouldn't worry about the feel - only time to worry is if it gets "crunchy" in which case its broken - that of no click and no input - which means its been pressed in too hard and the small node has been broken.
I appreciate your time.
I can’t twist the right thumb stick off and I’m worried I might break it any tips
There's no easy way - from the many I've worked with - I've found the tautness on each to be different - some are easier to remove than others - Gentle but consistent pressure on the turn should work.
I followed the tear instructions and the right thumbstick broke while trying to unscrew the dome. Broke as in it turned but never came off so that I could remove it. I said "good riddance" to this expensive mistake and tossed the elite series 2 controller in the trash.
I switched to the controller that came with my Xbox Series X, which works perfectly!
What size screw?
For what part?
Hey
Heyy!
You didnt show how to take bumpers off or triggers of in either one and thats what i need sooo plsss
I will create an updated Disassembly video soon!
My right thumb stick keeps rotating left until it falls into a position where it cannot move at all then i have to rotate it to the right again, and my left stick feels welded instead of glued, it wont budge a millimeter. Any suggestions?
You merely used your fingers, i had to use the large stick and my t shirt for grip to even slightly move the right stick. wtf is this sh!t, microsoft
Left sounds like it's threaded. And right is just tightly screwed on.
You may need to replace the module for the left stick if that's the case.
I broke one of mine attempting removal the first time.
Obviously they don't want just anyone modding their controllers haha. So it's on our heads should we do it 😅.
But in terms of difficulty removing. I've found several different controllers have been easier or harder to remove than others.
Only suggestion is just slowly rotating counter clockwise. Not too much force but eventually it will loosen and unscrew.

awful teardown
Awesome. Make your own then.
What a awful comment.. I think you did it good! first time I've seen your videos I'm gonna subscribe and refer my friends to your channel..
My right trigger keeps on clicking every time I click it
What do you mean clicking?
@@WanderingDutch like a faint clicking sound
