- Not too much different about this other some choir added and slightly more intense drums. But just enough added to make it that much more intense.

Savathun’s fight is what i had always hoped campaign bosses would eventually become. Oryx and Ghaul were good tastes with their own movesets but Ghaul was VERY squishy. Savathun and Calus proved to be pretty good fights with sizeable healthpools on Legend.
Savathun was still infinitely better, lore is better, fight is better, and she ended up giving us a weapon (Parasite) that allows for the highest burst in the game.
Calus’s fight sucks all of the ass solo. That tiny arena did not need tormentors to suppress you and a million enemies to boop you off, ESPECIALLY in the second phase where if you get hit, you die because Calus just one-shots 100 resil guardians sometimes. And if you survive, you’re all the way off the edge
Calus lacked something Savathun, Oryx, and even Ghaul had, that being SPECTACLE.
@@owenrobinson5031fax Owen, I was able to find a way around and survive phase 2 solo, but still such a pain
@@owenrobinson5031 as a solo strand Warlock, Legendary Calus was a breeze, I just kept flying through the arena. 2nd phase actually reminded me a bit of Tartarus from Halo 2, so maybe that's why I was mentally prepared lmao.
Anyway, Savathun still was miles better: the emotions, the stakes, I could feel all the years gone by culminating in thay very fight. Calus? Meh, underwhelming to say the least.
This on legendary on release was a different beast
I here the 3 1/2 hour extended Version until I could defeat her
Was still so much better than calus. The relief you got after finally beating savathûn compared to the feeling of “that’s it” for calus is unmatched

Just defeated her on legendary for the free weekend and holy moly what an awesome fight.
the Call To Arms at 5:54 is burned into my brain from how many times I wiped here on Legendary
We had quite the theme to end off WQ. Lightfall will be an interesting time to see what comes close.

Excluding soundtrack, it aged like a fucking milk....
The lightfall raid themes and some of the others are definitely a solid 10/10
It's really cool to hear the difference in tone between the first and second half of this track, especially with the vocals. The vocals at 1:39 are harsh and threatening, while at 6:21, they are more heroic, like the fight is about to be over at the end of this DPS phase
6 21 is also the motieff of Oryx, her brother, melting into the main theme of the song, blending into uh I forget the song name but it's the Guardian's theme. I agree with this statement
@@Billybobthebillygoat it’s not the Taken King motif itself, but it is from that expansion. It’s Surge of Light, which is the same track that plays when you get your 3rd subclass.
@@DarthDookieMan Also, notably, if you cut off the first note from that little motif it's very similar to Savathun's theme, just a few octaves off/maybe a different key. Fitting, for the first non-human Guardian.
They do this for most big bosses. The last part of an ost always has the more heroic part to it. The most clear place to see it is probably phase 3 Taniks or rhulk.
The development of Savathun's theme from imposing and powerful at the start of the track to something much more ethereal, somewhat uncertain, and almost heroic at 5:15 while completing it with a fourth, finalising figure (that may not be the right word) is amazing.
You can also hear a bit of Surge of Light near the end of the track, and if you cut off that bit's first note it's strikingly similar to the opening figure of Savathun's theme. I almost want to say it's the same thing just played in a different key. If I'm hearing that connection correctly that's some goddamn musical genius.
i think it's cool because they're sort of foreshadowing her "redemption" (i use scare quotes because i'm still uncertain of how redeemed she'll be, i really hope she becomes a solid ally); rhulk's theme does this too, in the final dps push there are triumphant sounding versions of the savathun's song motif, i think it sort of was highlighting she was sort of there in "spirit", since she sort of orchestrated us finding and killing rhulk and had been adversarial with him for awhile.
Another place it’s a clear triumphant start to a phase is phase 3 Taniks. It starts off with his usual imposing start then switches to a heroic version of look within only if you reach phase 3 tho. Only time Iv heard it in game was day 1
Never have I struggled on a destiny final boss like Savathun, but damn it was fun.

5:55 just perfect
3:10 there's something very imposing about the quiet yet still pronounced rhythm along with the darkness motif, then some of Sav's motif

It makes me so sad that lightfall didnt have the quality of the witch queen's campaign.
Legendary savathun boss fight can be summed up like this. If she looks at you your dead
