not many pedals excite me because you hear one you hear them all but this Fender The Santa Ana Overdrive excites me with the boost tone and just the overdrive tone itself is my tone i would use in my signal chain.
They seem to meet the design goal of making a user friendly pedal that provides usable features. The switchable bypass is such a simple idea and could be really helpful with a longer signal chain. Glowing knobs? Awesome.
Great pedals, I just bought the Full Moon Distortion. Any chance of doing a video just on the Overdrive/Distortion pedals explaining the nuances between them and the subtle differences so we can choose better between them?
Hey Fender! Just bought the Marine Layer from these awesome pedals! Bought it because that is the most I can give for a a pedal. If this pedal was similar in price I would buy it without thinking twice! I really want to support this but can you try and put the price a bit down?
I only wish you'd play more variety, meaning chords, rhythm and a different range of lead you know? Some shred stuff, some blues stuff, some simple stuff
This sounds beautiful & warm on this demo so I bought one. However through both my Vox and Laney amps it is harsh and thin. Maybe better through different amps, but guys just beware may not sound this good through the amp you have.
One thing we (we overdrive pedal concessionaires) do when judging an overdrive pedal is we try to hear what they sound like with little to no gain on the pedal, then a bit of gain, then a bit more etc. So far the vids I've seen feature only heavily overdrive examples, which many pedals do well... how are we supposed to gauge the transparency of the pedal (we need you to set the gain at a very low setting and play), or how well it cleans up when set high and then turning the guitar's volume down and playing (you know, turning the guitar down for a cleaner rhythm or a cleaner lead or for finger-picking etc before turning the guitar volume back up for more gain and crunch)? We need these examples demonstrated please. Yes, I'm sure eventually someone will produce a vid that includes these demonstrations for this pedal, as many already provide as standard procedure, but I'm only suggesting this here because I love what you're doing... and I'll add that Fender's Namm person (I forget his name, he's good and all) also did not demonstrate any of this... it was more or less a demonstration of medium to full gain and full up on the guitar etc. Good job overall, and the lead playing at the end-fade out sounds pretty damn transparent and sweet (rhythm playing sounds great also) so, bravo Fender, y'all know what you're doing, these features are incredible, I will be getting this pedal now (and I can't wait to grab one of the new solid state deluxe reverb amps, tubes are fantastic but also a frickin' drag for a touring guy like me!
Tried this sonic destructo hellraiser today. Sweet baby jesus, what a crazy good box of wtf ! The stringy throaty dirt that does what your pick and fingers tell it to do with all the dynamic response you could want ; or not want if you're accustomed to your dirt boxes being mushy and compressed. The tag may look a bit steepmat first glance, but for any player whose volume knob is actually a rotating channel switch, this box of sonic delight is anodized nirvana.
Great video! How would you classify Fender Santa Ana Overdrive? And does it stack well with Boss Blues Driver BD2 & Ibanez Mini Tube Screamer TSMini? Signal chain- Empress Buffer+ -> TS Mini-> BD2 -> Santa Ana.
Got one, love the pedal, i'm from Brazil. Why the pedal "short cut" the signal when we engage it? Ex: I'm playing with it off. If I keep playing and hit the pedal, it cuts really quick the signal and then I hear the signal with overdrive. Why is that? My other overdrive pedals don't do that. Just wondering and trying to learn more. Thank You.
Allo ??? The boost doesn’t affect the color of the sound ? NO - It’s increase dramaticaly the brightnees of the crunch, that is quite disturbing on mine. Information that could be helpful : you can tune the amount of boost with the dedicated trim pot inside the pedal. Have sold mine.
@Fender do you need a special power supply to use this pedal I'm looking to buy it in the future but I'm a little unclear so what you mean with the power supply requirements if I power this with a 9-volt battery it won't work or it doesn't take an 9 volt battery like most of the other ones? Also is the function to select the boost function as a volume or gain boost only accessible via a footswitch or is it just a regular switch on the back of the pedal? I don't own a footswitch.
Is there enough mid boost to sound big with a Deluxe Reverb Reissue? I just go the amp and tried it with a Bluesdriver and is sounded horrible. Putting a tubescreamer before the bluesdriver makes it usable, but it's still a disappointment.
Did I hear you guys correctly? That there is a switch that allows you to set the boost switch to either volume boost or gain boost? Therefore you can’t boost volume AND gain at the same time.? That would turn me off buying this. Or did I pick it up wrong?
I'm sure from what I have heard ,when boost set to level will increase the volume of whatever gain and volume is dialed in. Just the gain boost lifts the gain independently.
The way people fidget with tap dance around knobs in these videos drives me crazy. He flicked every knob 1/100th of a turn and back 15 times before the guitar even gets a chance to make a squeak. Doesn’t do much to showcase the pedals depth
The one I got just did not sound nice through the clean channel on my Fender Hot rod. It colored the sound in bypass. I wrapped it and sent it right back. The drive did not come anywhere near as nice as the drive switched in on my hot rod. The reason I bought this was to get the same sound without blasting my ears off. I put a Fender Telecaster through it, was not impressed at at all, could not get a nice sound out of it at all. I will stick the the amps drive channel way better.
Disappointing Hi! I just bought this Pedal after watching the video and the time delay when switching on/off is very disappointing. However this time delay is not shown in the video. That’s definitely something that the two guys in the video should talk about but unfortunately they are Fenders Puppets (come crawling faster obey Fender Fender... ;)

Really liking this range. Lots of clever engineering and design decisions made. Price is great too. Go Fender!

Keeping with tradition, Fender only makes the best you can buy! Love it!
**facepalm**
@@aryansahu2332 shut up
Fender is amazing at what they do
Thank you guys. You have made an entire line of wonderful effects.

Nice work guys!! These pedals are really something

Fender is making some great sounding pedals.
I keep coming back to this video I have to have this OD! Seems a bit too high in price though by $50
I only wish you'd play more variety, meaning chords, rhythm and a different range of lead you know? Some shred stuff, some blues stuff, some simple stuff
Has a nice smooth tone, I love it!

Sold!
Amazing playing and gear :D
Great pedal
Which of Fender's distortion pedals can replicate the Super-sonic distortion sound?

Bê Santos I have this same issue.
Sounds great!
Rick, you have great vibrato... and feel has a lot to do with your vibrato... Think BB King.. Best vibrato in the business.
Allo ???

Nice Sounds
Powerful!!!!!
Awesome
Might just get the pedal, especially if its got my hometown on it.
Raymond Morales Hell yeah! That's pretty much why I wanna get it 😂
Can you boost the volume and gain at the same time.
What pickups are in the Strat? Amazing pedal and well demo'ed.
sounds like a tube to me.
Lovely.
Hey guys I'm a noob when it comes to pedals. What kind of pedal(s) do I need to get a John Frusciante tone?
Max Islas I’m new to the pedal game myself. equipboard.com/role/guitarists. Is a good resource to see which equipment musicians like Frusciante use.
Wah, distortion, vibe Pedal, delay, reverb maybe a fuzz
What amp is being used? that clean tone sounds amazing! I wanna try my pedals with it
the guy with the strat plays with a Blues junior, the other guy have a princeton reverb.
sounds cool :)

Pecaram por não colocar um controle de volume pro Booster. Tirando isso o pedal e top
Do I need a preamp pedal on top of this in my gig?
Can you daisy chain the Power supply with a standard Boss Centre negative supply? If so, what's the draw please?
Sounds a whole lot similar to the built in drive channels on the blonde fender bass breaker.
I'm really confused between this thing and the greer lightspeed
Is there enough mid boost to sound big with a Deluxe Reverb Reissue? I just go the amp and tried it with a Bluesdriver and is sounded horrible. Putting a tubescreamer before the bluesdriver makes it usable, but it's still a disappointment.
Mmmm sweet
Where can i get that black stratocaster with that humbucking pickup?
Look up black Fender hss strat lol
Did I hear you guys correctly? That there is a switch that allows you to set the boost switch to either volume boost or gain boost? Therefore you can’t boost volume AND gain at the same time.? That would turn me off buying this. Or did I pick it up wrong?

I would guess that boosting the gain will boost the volume too, it usually does.
how do you control the level of the boost?
I would like to know too.
hchoe741 There is a small dip swich-like toggle inside where its possible to adjust the level of the boost mode! Just wish it was on the outside..
I’m a Fender fanatic. But for with $30 more a can get a D&M Drive from Keeley. In my opinion o e of the best Boost/Overdrive you can buy.
but thats a completely DIFFERENT kind of pedal.
Cawfee Dawg
I agree 100%
The D&M drive is a different beast than this box of doom.
talk, talk, talk, talk, more talk, pedal song, talk, talk, talk
The way people fidget with tap dance around knobs in these videos drives me crazy. He flicked every knob 1/100th of a turn and back 15 times before the guitar even gets a chance to make a squeak. Doesn’t do much to showcase the pedals depth
Haha yeah it’s annoying when in demos someone is barely moving the knobs but keeps touching them and not really showing you everything. 🤨
It automatically makes your guitar sound latin
The one I got just did not sound nice through the clean channel on my Fender Hot rod. It colored the sound in bypass. I wrapped it and sent it right back. The drive did not come anywhere near as nice as the drive switched in on my hot rod. The reason I bought this was to get the same sound without blasting my ears off. Maybe try the pugilist. I have one and it's wicked
anyone try this on bass?
The Jewel light is way too bright, so much so you cant see which flick switch you are switching.
YES!
It is very bright
Oof why are the video and sound off?
In and outs should be on top
WAY too much talking. Go watch an EHX pedal demo and take notes.
Sounds great, but 200$ is way overpriced!
not true.. a FET overdrive with this functionality is atleast 249.00 from the boutique guys.. fender just made it more affordable.
Josue You can buy a Ts9, Ts808, Full Drive-2 or a OCD for much less!
So go buy one. Better yet, bring your $50 pedals to market.
hi man. the $$ is high, but it does feature some great and useful design features.
Still much cheaper than the likes of Wampler, Keeley, Lovepedal, J Rockett etc.
They look really good but the Santa Ana Overdrive sounds a bit piercing. Do not like that. The distortion pedal sounds better to me...
This pedal sucks. Fender has put out some really good pedals, but for $200, this pedal couldn't be less worth it. GARBAGE.
Disappointing

I returned it for this reason. I thought it was a manufacturing issue and contacted Fender directly. The latency is built in and makes it unusable.
Fender: the pedals link in the description above is dead.
