21:25 this likely has to do with the reworked codex. I strongly suspect the new battle focus might be moveshootmove and thus will seriously increase the point cost on all eldar ranged units
I doubt it'll come with a huge points increase tbh. Likely the battle focus will be a D6" move-shoot-move. Put that up against a handful of guaranteed sixes whenever you need them, as well as the single hit- and wound reroll detachment rule being watered down by 8 other detachments, and I can honestly see the army becoming a slight bit less elite than it is now. D6" extra move is nowhere near as reliable as plugging in a farseer-juiced up fate dice.
2:24 i think this has to do with their mew codex and likely big changes. As someone leaked the CP to have a warpspider, guardian, spiritseer and wraithblade. Which is 50 points under the CP box average. So likely a lot of eldar units are going to be more expencive. I predict they get default fire and fade to replace fate dice.

@@LoftOfTheUniverse They should make an Avengers upgrade sprue for the guardians tbh. 10 helmets, loincloths & scopes and they'd have Dire Avengers that look SO much better than the "current" (i.e 2004) ones.
As someone who builds Eldar for the aesthetics, the power sword options are nice because the fit the whole "leader figures have swords" effect I go with. So I'd probably put them on even if they aren't as useful in the game.
I still think they are releasing Karandras but the Fuegan being leak basically made them scramble a bit and decide to just reveal Asuman as well so they would still reveal 3 aspect warriors and 3 phoenix lords and the 8th detachment has to be Corsairs. While there are a bunch of cool "leaks" going around, the Voidscarred killteam literally has an index keyword completely unique to them. Their killteam can be made into a battleline and special infantry team so already. A couple of vehicles, maybe another specialty infantry and some generic characters for leaders and you got the same level as harlequin and enough to make a special army box for them.
Not if the rumours are true, and the rumour that predicted that Karandras had been forgotten was the same one that correctly predicted a brand new, never before seen warp spider Phoenix Lord, so the odds don't look great.
@@BaeBunni I am not sure, I would need to go back and check. It was covered by Chapter Master Valrak but I am not 100% sure if he had one source or several. Of course if it is all one source and something they predict turns out to be false that undermines confidence a lot, although correctly predicting a warp spider Phoenix Lord would have been one heck of a guess.
@@samhunter1205 Just saying that I think because there is atleast some logic to it. If we never got the Fuegan leaked it would have been Him Baharroth and Lhykis, then reveal Asumen and a possible Karandras later to keep the hype going because they aren't releasing aeldari at the same time as Death Krieg. Part of the aeldari rumor are also about the aeldari combat patrol and that it's going to have 10 dire avengers and 5 new warp spiders. And as cool as that is it sounds a little to good to be true that they would throw in a brand new plastic model into the discount box the day they release. It would make way more sense if they did Dire Avengers and Striking scorpions. It keeps in theme with the pushing aspect warriors and they are the oldest aspect warriors after the new launch. Now my logic might be a little out there, but it would have made a pretty synced theme announcement of Aeldari Combat patrol being mostly aspect warriors and then announce Asumen and Karandras then to be like "hey new players if you buy this box you should buy their leaders too."
@BaeBunni I am not sure I really follow your logic, but I suppose we will find out soon enough. I think striking scorpions in a combat patrol are very, very unlikely because they are a kill team kit and I don't think they will include those sprues, with all the options and extra details, in a combat patrol. Even if they forgot him I do hope they rush Karandras out, he has one of the more unique stories for a phoenix lord, not actually being the progenitor of his shrine.
I absolutely adore the new fire dragons. They updated them perfectly, keeping everything cool about the miniatures, just improving the poses and making them plastic. Seriously, I can’t think of an update we’ve had that’s this faithful and accurate to the original models in the past few years. It’s something to be celebrated, I think.
In the lore the Warp Spiders’ Phoenix Lord was lost to the warp in ages past. I’d be surprised (well… not really) if they made her suddenly hyperactive
GW needs a hotfix for the blue/black craftworld that somehow didnt see a massive buildup of imperial forces, and somehow didnt notice a massive fleet coming at them. While being the covert ranger/corsair craftworld. Probably one of the worst examples of GW writing
The same rumors the predicted the spider phoenix lord apparently also predicted a Corsair release wave so I'm guessing that there may be a Corsair detachment
Valrak's rumors still have a "new" Corsair 'jump pack' unit + a redone Vyper kit. Also some whispers about Prince Yrriel getting a resculpt as well ;-)
@@drunkenastarte5243 yeah Corsair mistwalkers I think was the forge world name and it may be the Corsair vyper which I believe had separate rules. Been ages since I've seen any of that stuff tho
I wouldn't give any credence to that. GW teased a Spider lord in one of the Psychic Awakening books and the release pattern of Aspect+PL would also lead to a natural expectation that a Spider lord would be on the way, so predicting a Spider Lord is something anyone could have come up with. The fact that there is one doesn't suggest that any rumour mentioning it is likely to be accurate.
@philipbowles5397 well they are updating forge world models into the main line too. Corsairs will either be updated fully or sent to legends by the next codex and given that the kill team box for them was popular updated corsairs is very reasonable
Shadow Specters going to legends would be kind of a bummer since they look cool. But at least that would be one less thing to collect, especially with these nice new releases coming out.
Eldar had the oldest models left in 40k, but not the oldest range. Going by the average ages of the ranges Tau and pre-10th Ed. Tyranids were both older, because although Eldar had a bunch of old kits they've had multiple new ones in almost every edition. Most of the basic Tau kits are still the 3rd Ed. models with the odd extra component or upgrade sprue - Devilfish/Hammerhead, Fire Warriors, Crisis, and prior to this edition Kroot. Most of the other kits are from 5th Ed., and prior to the Kroot refresh the range hadn't had any additions other than a reworked character per edition since 7th.
Karandras would make a lot of sense for an "Arks of Omen"-style release wave. Notably, there is another Striking Scorpions Phoenix Lord MIA after falling to Chaos, which would be a great short-term plot anchor to throw for Aeldari vs. Drukhari after refreshing the Aspect Warriors.
I have been musing that there could be an Aeldari vs EC/Slaanesh box, which would: - premier Karandras and some of the new, upcoming Emp. Children units - include a 5-elf squad of the recent Striking Scorpions killteam - maaayyyybe include a new Dire Avengers sculpt?? Maybe a bit of a reach, but they could easily be a small objective-holder unit that usually fits in with these types of boxes - maaayybe get a new Vyper sculpt? That feels like another reach, but damn that thing is old and it is a medium-sized solo model that they like to include in these types of boxes. While I would like a new Vyper, I do think that it is more likely that the Vyper and the Falcon-body tanks will get resculpted for the next big-release-wave (so not for a while) maybe Saim-Hann-styled
Dude I’ve been WAITING for new Aeldari. I’ve always wanted to start collecting them but was afraid the second I did they would update them right after lol.
And Karandras for the time being. Not sure if any other ranges still have 2nd Ed. kits - was the Chimera ever redone? If the Autarch Skyrunner isn't dropped from the book as I expect it to be, it's still riding a 2nd Ed. jetbike.
Sanguinary Guard out here catching strays. I feel like I'm the only person who thought those big dumb angel wings on their original models were straight up clown shoes.
8th detachment could be a "milita" focuesd one, guardians, support weapons, rangers and maybe the tanks. Could also be a "outcast", rangers and corsairs. Bit worried about Swooping Hawks losing the jump of the board, unless they get some big changes to weapon profiles it feels like Warp Spiders will just take over their role and push the birb bois away.
Auspex's original Asurmen leak was apparently of an image from an army box, so if this ended up being the real model we've now seen it's likely Eldar will get at least two army boxes - one with Asurmen but apparently no other new stuff, and one with the rest.
I’m excited for the Ynnari detachment and all the Drukari data sheets. Also The Harlequin rules. I’m nervous to see what might not make it officially to 10th edition.
I suspect 'Dragons can be equipped with flamers' means exactly what it says, rather than just the Exarch. The Exarch already has a flamer option, so it would be a strange thing to get confused about if it's just a case of the Exarch's weapon option not changing. Despite their entire theme being 'embodying an aspect of Khaine', lore has always been fairly light on just what each Aspect is meant to represent but it seems to be more about the aspects of the god's nature rather than any specific tactical doctrine. Fire Dragons thematically represent his aggression through "fire and flame", not "Khaine's consummate skill as a tank-hunter", and the fact that Exarchs have always had weapon options implies that Aspect Warriors train with more varied weaponry than we tend to see on the tabletop. 'Each Aspect is a set of mono-armed specialists with a distinct unit role" is more a mechanical identity for Eldar rather than necessary being lore-accurate, so a squad of Fire Dragons with flamers can make perfect thematic sense even though they'll play very differently from a squad with fusion guns. It will be hard to make them worth the same pointswise, though, especially since the new reroll hits squad rule does nothing for flamer Dragons. It's a way of expanding the roster of Aspect gameplay roles without making a whole bunch of extra infantry kits, and perhaps something they could have experimented with with some of the other refreshes (maybe Reapers with anti-tank or anti-horde weapons, or Hawks with something other than lasblasters).
I'm assuming the Autarch Skyrunner won't be in the Codex. The model (which was part-resin as well as using a 2nd Ed. jetbike) is no longer on sale, there's no hint that it's being updated, and it's not an especially useful role since there's another mobile Autarch option.
I really wish we have a big box with the new releases. Imagine a huge Aspect Warrior army in a box. As per the Combat Patrol, my guess is that, if they follow the "theme" of this release, they'll pack some of the oldest Aspect Warriors. Dire Avengers, Howling Banshees and Dark Reapers, with an Autarch, possibly the Winged one with less options. Considering Karandras is lost as per background, I don't think his miniature will come back at this moment. Maybe in the future, as you mention, in the end of edition campaign, as already happened with Jain Zar. I've always wanted an Aspect Warrior army, and now with the new miniatures and a dedicated detachment I don't have an excuse anymore.
@@Grinchpryde exactly! Yet a conclave is so cool! I totally want to play them! If they had like one more attack per model and an AP of -2 it would be worth it.
I'm skeptical that they wrote a full 24 additional detachments for a holiday promotion. My guess is that factions that already have codices will get new detachments, but the rest will be content previewed from unreleased codices. I could be wrong, and we will know either way in a month or two.
Aeldari getting a 24 inch move unit give me hope for grey knights having an actual melee detachment with advance and charge and some added bonus so dread knights still benefit
The Eldar release looks like it's set to be the best release in 10th. I've been happy with SM and Orks, while Admech was a downer for me. Eldar were my first army in 3rd and boy am I glad I don't need to see my badly painted and chipped metal models again soon.
Lorewise the Shining Spears had an explanation for their Phoenix Lord not being on the tabletop. Drasanta explicitly went missing after he banished N'kari; and unlike the Striking Scorpions didn't have anyone take over for him. Outside of him, Amon Harahkt of the Eagle Pilots also lacks a Model, and the Crimson Hunters lack any Phoenix Lord at all. The Shadow Spectres were FW so them and Iryllith are gone, while the Slicing Orbs, Crystal Dragons, and Ebon Talons lack models and a Phoenix Lord.
Hey Auspex! I was wondering if you were going to do a video where you talked about what type of detachment every faction would like in the Grotsmas calendar?
Bare-headed Warp Spiders is silly. They jump through the frickin' Warp. And Aspect Warriors have _always_ been helmeted because it's a big part of the lore of the Path Of The Warrior. The PL looks nice, but i wouldn't dare take it anywhere to use it. Looks like it would be incredibly fragile. Edit: Same applies to Hawks with the fragility. Obvs GW isn't selling enough glue! Great sculpts but my god i'd be terrified to touch them!
The helmet is a bit misinterpreted. They have a "mask", meaning that they behave, think and only show a certain aspect of themselves, like a role. Imagine an actor always acting like the role they are interpreting, even in their personal life, completely removing their personal self. That is more like what the living Path means in practical terms. For me though, it does not make sense in general to be helmetless in any war like situation, so I always make them with helmets, if possible, unless the pose is better without it.
On top of the above, the 'bare' heads are also tied specifically to the Ynnari, since they are their own sperate faction and bring together Eldar from all facets of Eldar society & various different Paths
The helm was never any more than a helm with targeting sensors and other standard military gear. The 'war mask' idea was a retcon, and since it comes from the novels I'm not sure it's ever become official canon. In general models with access to helmets who aren't wearing them in the middle of a battle are silly - the models only capture one moment in time, and it's to be imagined they put the helmet back on before jumping.
In lore, the helmet has been described as the physical representation of the War Mask (the psychological state of mind). The exarch, who is "permanently wearing the war mask" _might_ go unhelmeted because they no longer require that physical artefact as part of the ritual. But still. Warp Spiders *_literally jump through hell_* Regardless of any other factor, going helmetless in those conditions is silly.
The 9+10e update is comparable to the Nelson 5E or 10E update. It is a bit of an issue that so much is rework and there are few new units for GW to sell.
I expect a big reduction on drukhari units available for Ynnari. I don't think they double a lot of datasheets on both books. The worst case is only wyches and incubi getting a datasheet(the only ones that appear on studio "official" ynnari pictures, Also incubi has ynnari bits in their kits) but probably things like Mandrakes, Scourges, Beastmaster, Ravagers, Archons are out. I have doubts on kabalite warriors, bikes, hellions and transports.
Probably pair them down to just Kabalites, Wyches, Incubi & Scourges. Plus maybe Venoms & Raiders as their transport options... Keep in mind, Yvraine herself was of course a member of the Wych cults, while her 'protector/bodyguard' is closely tied to Kabalites & Incubi. Scourges could/should still work in the mix, since they are the unaligned & neutral messengers of the Dark City. Would love it if Ynnari could keep Hellions too ;-)
Hey auspex! I’ve been watching your channel for awhile, love the videos - have you thought about covering the lack of pariah nexus mission packs for sale?? I’m from Canada and I haven’t seen them come back in stock once they sold out, it’s extremely frustrating.
Curious what their Christmas detachment will be, given their Army rule is changing…..did they confirm their Army rule is changing with the December Update?
8:33 I think the Spinaret rifle was actually a rapid fire weapon in the past nothing special about it and I think it had a 24 range on it I doubt it will be worth taking over double spinners or melee
The previous battle focus not that great. Most things that wanted to advance and shoot already had assault weapons. Move shoot move was handicapped by terrain making it -3" to the D6" roll. Assault melee units didn't care.
As far as quins they removed all of their rules so unless they give back rules the they had the detachment isn’t going to be enough to make them a playable faction
5:25 well the charge after flicker jump is not really that amazing the unit only has S3 attacks with the exception of the exarch if you give them melee weapons so unless you charge other T3 units not all that impactful they are a shooting unit and not the best one the eldar have
Imagine killing 8 or 9 models and then charge into a primary and take it.... the movment is the main thing the rest is icing on the cake. The 1 exarch can get 10 melee attacks....
@ I don’t know what 8 or 9 models you are talking about but you already pay 125pt and to add a phoenix lord to the unit that is most likely going to be 130+ pts that is a lot of points to pay for a unit that will just be removed from the broad next turn if not from overwatch
If this codex only releases by april then there is no way GW will make their release schedule for a 3-year edition. We're halfway through and only 12 of the 26 (27?) factions have their codex (-supplement) so far. I think it's quite likely both Guard and Aeldari are coming in january, early february at the latest.
18:20 Hope it's not move shoot move it incentivises obnoxious plays where you let a micrometer of gun hang outside of the ruin to then hide behind it again.
I remember when we'd get sixish years for an edition and they were largely minor tweaks for playability rather than abjsct balance. Balance was a thing the table worked out among itself. The rules existed and we were trusted to figure out how to have fun. It feels real bad to be sub half that time and so much focus is placed on forced balance. Jack should exist and the table/tournament should be expected to create specific rules (like many other hobbies that can be casual or competative) for their own environment. I should not expect to just play hut instead need yo discuss rules of engagement with my opponent. And I see what too much focus on the former from the corporate side of things.
You mean times when it was possible for faction to never receive a codex during an edition and playe with old one? And years for rules with basically no faqs and fixing broken things? It wasn't so rose and shiney back then

@@LoftOfTheUniverse They should make an Avengers upgrade sprue for the guardians tbh. 10 helmets, loincloths & scopes and they'd have Dire Avengers that look SO much better than the "current" (i.e 2004) ones.
The shade thrown at the Sanguinary Guard was S tier
@samhunter1205 are they the same ones that predict we are getting new units in The next aeldari combat patrol?
I don't think there's ever been official lore about the Warp Spider, just fan canon that became accepted in the absence of any official lore.
@@philipbowles5397 I'm pretty sure 3rd ed Eldar Codex mentioned the PL being lost
The same rumors the predicted the spider phoenix lord apparently also predicted a Corsair release wave so I'm guessing that there may be a Corsair detachment
As a Ynnari player this is all very exciting!
They'll be back. Eldar will need models in the future editions.
I really hope they make a battlebox out of these aspects + leaders
Karandras would make a lot of sense for an "Arks of Omen"-style release wave. Notably, there is another Striking Scorpions Phoenix Lord MIA after falling to Chaos, which would be a great short-term plot anchor to throw for Aeldari vs. Drukhari after refreshing the Aspect Warriors.
Shining Spears also missing a Phoenix Lord😂
Tbh I'm fine with no flying base eldar for an edition
Crimson hunters Phoenix lord when?
@@ThineDude this is what I have been asking
@@ThineDude They don't even have Exarchs these days...
I have been musing that there could be an Aeldari vs EC/Slaanesh box, which would:
- premier Karandras and some of the new, upcoming Emp. Children units
- include a 5-elf squad of the recent Striking Scorpions killteam
- maaayyyybe include a new Dire Avengers sculpt?? Maybe a bit of a reach, but they could easily be a small objective-holder unit that usually fits in with these types of boxes
- maaayybe get a new Vyper sculpt? That feels like another reach, but damn that thing is old and it is a medium-sized solo model that they like to include in these types of boxes.
While I would like a new Vyper, I do think that it is more likely that the Vyper and the Falcon-body tanks will get resculpted for the next big-release-wave (so not for a while) maybe Saim-Hann-styled
New Vyper kit is rumored to come with corsair release in 10th , they will have refreshed yriel and some other fw corsair units in plastic
OMG THE PHOENIX LORDS SCULPS, LOVE EM
Dude I’ve been WAITING for new Aeldari. I’ve always wanted to start collecting them but was afraid the second I did they would update them right after lol.
Yep exactly the same
Your patience seemed to have paid off now, soon.
Alaitoc will probably be the base war host detachment. Corsair will be the 8th with more reveals.
So the viper and falcon are the last 2nd edition kits still around now that warp spiders have been upgraded?
And Karandras for the time being. Not sure if any other ranges still have 2nd Ed. kits - was the Chimera ever redone?
If the Autarch Skyrunner isn't dropped from the book as I expect it to be, it's still riding a 2nd Ed. jetbike.
As soon as I realized that wasn't likely an exarch, I got so hyped.
I automatically didn't like the Dire Avengers because of the old Asurmen model. Now it looks pretty decent.
I hope the launch box would be all 3 or the new aspect warriors + 2 Phoenix lords.
Still think the Autarch Skyrunner should be able to be attached to Shining Spears. Give both units a bit of extra punch
I hope they finally give some AP to the psychic weapons of prophets and seers
Yeah, warlocks aren't worth at all the point costs, specially against more heavily armored enemys like Space Marines etc.
@@Grinchpryde exactly! Yet a conclave is so cool! I totally want to play them! If they had like one more attack per model and an AP of -2 it would be worth it.
Almost 30 years (or over 30? I lost count lol) to get new sculpts of Warp Spiders.... wow
I think they first saw the tabletop in early 1994, so more than 30 years.
@maxmagnus377 time sure flies when your army gets 3-4 models every 10 years
I'm skeptical that they wrote a full 24 additional detachments for a holiday promotion.
Not an Aeldari player but Lhykis and the warpspiders are tempting me
I've always thought a Crimson Hunter Phoenix Lord could be an awesome concept.
Im so excited. I just broke another Warp Spider, and a Swooping Hawk last night cuz Im clumsy.
The helmetless warp spiders look bulged and ugly imo
But still.
Warp Spiders *_literally jump through hell_*
Regardless of any other factor, going helmetless in those conditions is silly.
I seem to have chosen the best and worst time to build an Eldar army...hopefully we get Karandras and I can have some patience! lol
do keep your helmet on while jumping through the warp
The 9+10e update is comparable to the Nelson 5E or 10E update. It is a bit of an issue that so much is rework and there are few new units for GW to sell.
So excited!!
Would love it if Ynnari could keep Hellions too ;-)
@drunkenastarte5243 Maybe kabalites are in, yes. I think scourges are going out too, I hope not as I have two units, but...
That Flamer Fire Dragon does kinda look like he's got different legs than the other pics.... Maybe that is just a normal Fire Dragon with a Flamer?
Hey auspex! I’ve been watching your channel for awhile, love the videos - have you thought about covering the lack of pariah nexus mission packs for sale?? I’m from Canada and I haven’t seen them come back in stock once they sold out, it’s extremely frustrating.

Now to times what the Warp Spider Phoenix lords Role/Lore gonna be like
Curious what their Christmas detachment will be, given their Army rule is changing…..did they confirm their Army rule is changing with the December Update?
GW really trying to get me to buy eldar
8:33 I think the Spinaret rifle was actually a rapid fire weapon in the past nothing special about it and I think it had a 24 range on it I doubt it will be worth taking over double spinners or melee
"All dis stuff looks too Panzee ta loot!" ~Gobstoppa da Evalastin'
Isn’t the Shining Spear Phoenix lore confirmed gone in the lore?
The same was true about the warp spider lord until now
The only reason you would take the one flamer over another pike is if it made them cheaper
The previous battle focus not that great. Most things that wanted to advance and shoot already had assault weapons. Move shoot move was handicapped by terrain making it -3" to the D6" roll. Assault melee units didn't care.
Slowed the game down, the things that should have it didn't (dark reapers etc), way too swingy, half of the army didn't have an army rule.
So Drukhari get…..?
A codex later in the edition? With a character and/or a bigger release of models.
This is going to be expensive huh
BIEL-TAN PLAYERS LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was hoping for a Corsair detachment with better Void Pirates...
Stay tuned.
New characters are all going to cost $45 a pop bare minimum. I wouldn’t be surprised if the spider leader costs $53 msrp
Tho.
12:08 when will the crying stop?
Give the harlequins their own codex back 😢
Still a little sad that the eldar primarchs barely get a fraction of the power
AELDARIII!!!
The eldar players eating good now I have seen everything
I wonder if they're going to fold Dark Eldar into a faction of the Eldar codex
No its actually huge
18:20 Hope it's not move shoot move it incentivises obnoxious plays where you let a micrometer of gun hang outside of the ruin to then hide behind it again.
Isn't fire and fade the same but better? Sure it costs cp but you have a full additional move and not this one D6 random crap.
Blame GW for writing bad rules. Why would I as a player expose more of my model than I need to?
Ironic really slannesh gets updated emperor's children and so the eldar get updated aswell wonder if the dark eldar will get updated aswell
These sculpts are awesome, but I really, really want rid of the tall, dumpy Vyper minivan.
It wasn't so rose and shiney back then
Maybe Pancreas will stop making lore vidoes to blame his skill issues on losing to Chaos. 🤔
Model sculpts change that?
Will they're weapons still have garbage range or given the true weapons ranges that's been hidden from them all this time and where's the true ra model as the death jester imposter sucks
