Hahaha..the first Alan Partridge! Clodagh very attractive, super figure and beautiful hair but like pretty Pickettywitch Polly seemed to have been a dearth of really good songs to showcase such wonderful talent after 1972. Think we all got swept along by glitz and glam rock...then came punk!
There were some good songs but her career was inviegled by some nasty types at the BBC sadly. However, she did very well without having to rely on the ephemera of pop!
Think a big disadvantage was trying to get airplay for your newly released record when TV shows and radio was so severely restricted to just BBC/ITV/Radio1/Luxembourg. Simply not enough outlets. And probably far too many artists competing for that limited airtime. Could there also have been a degree of corruption, to oil the greasy wheels. etc, IYKWIM?
